It took me way longer than it should have to realize the huge materia in VII were the elemental crystal from past games

they also started off mostly based of traditional fantasy but depending the setting the technology can be steampunk, modern or futuristic.

>religious iconography (though actually fighting gods is rare in final fantasy)
They should adapt FF4 or FF10 as an animated series though. Or FF8. Squall is the biggest chad in the series and Cecil isn't far behind. Tidus is kind of a bitch but he's actually interesting and grows over the course of his game.

A film adaptation of the story of Final Fantasy Tactics would be kinographie. Just a great story with political intrigue and machinations.
