I genuinely hate boomers. I live in a relatively small town in the midwest and I can't afford to move out until I start working on my doctorate because until then I simply won't have enough money. I work as many hours a week as I can get at a higher that minimum wage job ($11 an hour) but it usually ends up being 30-40, and it's not enough to live on by myself. I could get an apartment, but that's more than half my money gone each month. Factor in utilities, food, gas/maintenance on my car, internet, phone, I'd end up with $30 or so left at the end of each month if I'm being generous, working nearly 40 hours a week on average, while in school. It's not like I live in a big city either where everything is extremely expensive. There are 100,000 people here. Not to mention the exorbitant debt I'll go into to finish school, despite my scholarships and in-state tuition.

This is the world boomers created and I'd be fine with that if they would accept it's not just entire generations being "entitled" to things. They don't realize how badly they fucked it all up. They raped the economy, completely. Then they have the gall to call younger generations lazy and entitled. We simply cannot afford to move out and start families at 18, or even 20 now. 22-25 is the earliest I can see myself getting out of here. It's unbelievable.

Seriously, apply to hundreds of jobs. And learn how to sell your skills. Trial and error, fellas. Apply to shit you aren't even remotely qualified for. Apply to fucking everything. There's no limit. I had a job working on a very lucrative government program when my bosses told me that I was going to get to train team of Indians to "assist" me as well as get to design a piece of software that would automate most of my responsibilities.

It was pretty clear that they were likely to fire me as soon as it was done, so I trained the Indians wrong and actively sabotaged the development of the software. Sure enough, I got let go and the company eventually got thrown out of the program for submitting incredibly shoddy work, costing them tens of millions of dollars in the long-term. Just to give you an anecdote (even if you dont want it), I was treated like shit for 2 1/2 years going from odd job to odd job. I've worked assembly lines boxing up chocolates to cleaning floors. Most of the jobs I've worked at treated me like shit and the most I made at that time was 11 USD an hour.
I found myself one time at a job where I was in a machine shop and something about it really liked it. It was 43c in the summer and cold in the winter, but i really liked it and got a full time position because I worked really hard.

Always give your notice when you leave a job. If you were a good worker, and had a decent relationship with your boss, ask them if you can use them as a reference. Within a couple years you could leverage an entry level job into being well versed in every aspect of whatever operations your industry does, have worked with a bunch of people, been successful, demonstrated self motivation for advancement, and might be able to move into a leadership role, if you're so inclined.
