Depends on the preservation process. Certain chemicals might preserve the bodies in different ways. I'm pretty sure arsenic was banned by the 1940s, so it's hard to say what would cause something like that to happen.

You actually have to rent your spot in a cemetary. In Europe at least, I don't know how it goes in the US. You can rent for up to 10 or 20 years, I think after that they just destroy your body to use as sand or something.
