The thing is The Amazing Spider-Man series was going to have every villain comnected to Oscorp and Norman Osbourne. For some reason I prefer that than Spider-Man always having to atone for Stark's sins (it's Iron Man's fault every Avengers movie)and constantly living in his shadow. This leads to Dark Avengers, in which Peter defeats the twisted image of his mentor and becomes the world's greatest hero. After this Norman looses his shit and becomes the Green Goblin.
