Asuka wasn't just raped metaphorically by the Angel, but that was supposed to imply it had happened to her in the past physically. I guess the biggest issue with this idea is that would probably pop up in her Instrumentality scenes, but then again I don't know...
It's a tricky topic to discuss. But, you know, you hear stories where someone who is molested as a child end up overcompensating by adopting a personality that seeks sex from clearly wrong places? Like the scene where Asuka straight up comes on to Kaji, that seems like a result of already experiencing sexual intercourse from a parental figure and internalizing that in a messed up way. And there's a huge theme of inappropriate child x parental figure relationships which runs throughout the series, and I don't know, maybe I'm looking too far into things but that's just the impression I got.
I say her "father" because what we see of him doesn't pain him in a good light, with him fucking around with his wife's nurse. He just rubbed me as a creep.
What? There is no implication of sexual abuse in Asuka's past or personality, Asuka doesn't seek sex, she's a pubescent that is fumbling around in the discovery of her sexuality but pretends to be confident in it. Misato sees through this, because she is actually the one who seeks sex in place of real connections. When instrumentality happens, Asuka says something like "Is this what I will be like?" in disapproval when an image of Misato and Kaji in bed appears.
The reason she's emotionally messed up is because her only real parental figure was mentally ill, otherwise she has the same parental abandonment issues as the other characters.

Don't ask any questions until you've watched the entire series at least 10 times
Isaac White
I'm a grown-ass adult watching this series for the first time because people tell me it's good and it's on netflix so why not second fucking episode is like 50% "tee hee I'm an adult woman living with this little boy tee hee I'm not planning on DOING anything with him *wink wink* tee hee" they have a scene where he's buck naked freaking out about a penguin or some shit and she's just ogling him for fuck's sake
Kayden Phillips
Should I just watch the sub on some anime streaming site?
Sebastian Scott
Eva is a garbage clusterfuck of story and characterization that isn't very well done by any aspect, but which attempts to compensate for its weaknesses by adding in waifu faggotry and NEUROSIS. The normal user can see this as the shit it is, and may enjoy it, hate it or be indifferent to it, but all the while recognizing that the series itself, regardless of their opinion, is plain bad.
However, these very aspects that try to smear over the shit of its core make it a breeding ground for aspie, unsociable underageb& faggots who engage in every kind of faggotry both online and in the real world. The broken, angsty characters all trying their hardest to hide from their mental issues, the SYMBOLISM, peculiar, complex machinery, the whole Freudian faggotry and everything about the Evangelion world fuels their fantasies of being a patrician, while the pity-party character backgrounds, emphasis on guilt tripping, and overall preachiness of the series make it fit just right with the mary-sueish drives of your average preteen and his sense of unwarranted self-importance towards the world. Exactly the kind of shit that makes little kiddies and underage retards eat this shit right the fuck up.
I think seeing her mothers dead body after she offed herself may have been the issue.
Nathan Cook
the characters are so fucking terrible, and yet episodes 19 - 24 and the film are sitll kino. How did they do it?

>Asuka says something like "Is this what I will be like?" in disapproval when an image of Misato and Kaji in bed appears. yes because all women are whores
Michael Nguyen
the beginning kind of lulls you into a false sense of security, the mindfucks all come later.
Angel Bennett
bruh it's anime and not even good anime just watch the Batman shows if you want good content or gundam if you want robots
Carter Murphy
I am confused, are you some sort of moralfag who thinks it's wrong for a woman to tease a teenage boy like that?
Tyler Gray
I don't like superheroes or series that last more than 2 seasons
Bentley Phillips
yes, pedophilia normalization is wrong
Jason Wilson
Unless it's okay for the teenage boy to penetrate her vagina with purpose and forcibly inseminate her then of course it's wrong
Ian Garcia
Soicringe.
Jack Price
>only castrated men oppose the predation of children back to discord, tranny
Justin Ortiz
Kek. Fucking older woman as a teen is glorious. Only jealous incels seethe.
Jace Morgan
You talk like you were sexually abused as a kid.
Did you get raped or something?
Charles Murphy
G Gundam specifically is the length of two seasons. The MC is the polar opposite of Shinji.
Asher Sanchez
Thats seriously just an anime thing that happens and yeah its retarded, but Im assuming you have not finished the series yet because it gets deconstructed later.
no, I'm literally 3 or 4 episodes in and I know it's an anime thing - nips do it because they're perverted, joos do it because they're subversive yada yada yada
Dylan Powell
Then stfu and finish the show Also checked so maybe Im wrong
Like the other user said, it's so you put your guard down.
It's all necessary to watch, but Evangelion doesn't exactly become Evangelion until around episode 16. You just need to be patient
Anthony Nguyen
>stfu and finish the show I plan on finishing because it's relatively short, but noticing some clear pedo normalization isn't going to change simply by seeing the ending yeah, if it's still boring for another 5 or so episodes I'll probably drop it, but it's good to know people say it's slow until 2/3 of the way through kinda reminds me of how people talk about TES games I mean yeah I enjoyed Oblivion, but I HAD 200 hours to blow on a video game back then... it was still boring as shit for the first 10 hours
Dominic Williams
What? He mother replacing her with a doll and then killing herself wasn't enough abuse?
The whole thing with Kaji is that Asuka is desperate for attention due to her need to feel validated in her existence.
Connor Walker
>pedo normalization for teasing a teenage boy
Can you fuck off back to ?
Kayden Adams
Do people here really dislike this trope? I guess it's a cultural difference. Vice versa isn't usually done but this is fairly harmless and is kind of irl true. Older women teasing young boys is seen as harmless.
Hudson Davis
>waifu faggotry but that's the second best faggotry there is
>If it's still boring for another 5 or so episodes Episode 8-12 or so is retarded as the lowest point of the series because it becomes very slice-of-lifey in a calm before the storm kind of way. You are probably going to drop it. If the first few episodes couldn't keep your attention, these certainly won't
Nolan Rodriguez
On episode 21 about to finish my first watch through. It gets intense.
Charles Hall
>Retarded *Regarded
Owen Murphy
she talks to her friend on the phone about being tempted to have sex with him while he's not even in the room
I am on the same boat. I am really surprised how shitty the animation is. At the beginning of the show a lot of character movement is just them doing a shuffle to a image. While the background isn't animated at all.
Aaron Myers
bruh moment (me on the left) imagine a kid's self esteem after that kek
Jeremiah Carter
truthfully I don't find it particularly exciting or engaging, but I have enjoyed the animation something about 80s and 90s animation that hits me in the right spot, regardless of whether it's japanese or american
Jackson Perry
It's weird desu. The shows main theme is basically asking people to not dwell too much on fantasy worlds and make connections with irl people. Basically it's against too much escapism.
Yet it's fans indulge in one of the most harmful escapist activities like waifu fagging.
>pedo normalization Being a pedo was never denormalized like it was in the west because Japan never had (((feminists))) subverting their country.
Zachary Davis
who fucking cares, get laid nerd
Lucas James
Because she doesn’t know how to connect to people without fucking them
Nicholas Long
no you need to torrent the 55gb complete directors cut edition with all the film grain intact, if you watch it filtered you're destroying the visual quality
Well it's good to know you are getting SOMETHING from it at least. Seriously if you can push through those few episodes I think you will find the payoff more than worth it
Michael Adams
nice try but women can't connect with people even when they do have sex with them
Eli Cooper
I really want all of you guys who've been posting this opinion for a week now to come back after watching the series and EoE and give us your new impressions of it.
Elijah Lee
are you a bong?
Jordan Adams
You're forgetting it's a TV show. Good animated parts are reserved for important things. youtu.be/0AY27gLWhtM
The overall direction and art are top notch.
Grayson Mitchell
>Shinji tries to sneak a kiss from Asuka while she's sleeping >she's crying and whispering "mama" that hit me pretty hard on the second watch. damn.

>Posting such a hard spoiler as an example user please

Wait are there actually morons ITT who wouldn't have banged a older woman given the opportunity in their teens? Holy kek, I guess that's what politics does to your brain.
Aiden Roberts
me cuz I'm a sneedcel and "older women" don't know what sneed is
Adam Price
I started watching two days ago, and that was my first post regarding NGE I'm currently still willing to watch the series through Not trying to trigger you m8 no, just an adult I don't give a fuck about the legacy of some hotel sitcom that wasn't even all that funny, I just can't be bothered to invest in a show that lasts 6+ seasons and fizzles with an unsatisfying ending >burned on sopranos, lost, got, and many others
Anthony Hill
I probably wouldn't if watched my mom die and never spoken a word to my father.
Especially if all my friends and the only people who I let get close to me were dying around me.
