Why is this the only case where the movie is better than the book it's based on?

*COUGH*

This would be the best example actually. I've read the Jaws book and I think it's as good as the movie.

How exactly are the LotR movies better than the books?

because spielberg smartly cut out the lengthy boring subplot where hooper cucks brody that serves no purpose in the novel

The movies don't molest us with a flood of useless made up names and stories about magic men living in the woods and shit

Also Gimli being the comic relief is a huge advantage over the boring ass books

No. Fight Club, American Psycho, Sideways, Godfather, The Shining, Clockwork Orange, Die Hard, LA Confidential, Silence of the Lambs, Forrest Gump and No Country for Old Men exist.

Now give me an actual argument, please

ur a fag

there u go

>Godfather
Wait, the Godfather was based on a book? How's the book? Is the Godfather Part II also based on any book?

>Is the Godfather Part II also based on any book?
Parts of it are taken from the Godfather novel.

>American Psycho
>better than the book
Kys faggot.

I don't even know how you can argue otherwise.

>Jaws
>Shawshank
>Green Mile
>First Blood (they changed the ending which worked in a book but would have been terrible for a movie)
>Silence of the Lambs (toss up)
there's not many, but they exist
a local theater always shows Jaws around the 4th of July, thanks for reminding me to get tickets OP
I completely forgot about that shit, that was such a stereotypically grim 70s thing to add into a story
on the very off chance you're not memeing, the plot of the godfather is lifted entirely from the book which also had flashback scenes to Vito's rise which were later used for Godfather Part II. All the 1950s Michael stuff in Part II was original material, and Part III was 100% original. The book's author co-wrote the screenplay for each movie. It's a good book, check it out

It's one of the best books I have ever read, really fucking great novel. The movies are all based on the one book, II + III more loosely than I

>Last Of The Mohicans
>The Shining
>Starship Troopers
>Jurassic Park

>implying you've read books
Reading a book is different from watching a movie. Books are far more engaging and require effort. Movies are literally spoonfed experiences. Doesn't surprise me that Yea Forums actually thinks a movie can be better than a book.

>blocks your path

Bullshit. The book scared the shit out of me when I was 12 or 13, the movie did nothing. It's a good movie, but it's not better than the book.

The film is only good because of the Indianapolis scene.

>Books are far more engaging and require effort.
lol no
Books are the most pleb medium available, the only people who think they're good are pseuds, the medium is dead for a reason, we already realized that

>>Jurassic Park
No

Because the film is literally just an abridged, neutered version of the book that cuts out most of the violence, things such as Bateman's hate for what he calls "nigger music", the brunt of his spiral into lunacy, character moments for Bateman such as his ex girlfriend showing up and us seeing him be uncomfortable and sperging out, his brother showing up, the display of his sense of humour by coating a urinal cake in chocolate and giving it as a gift to Evelyn, watching her eat it then breaking up with her. The film retardedly makes things ambiguous when in the book he definitely does everything.
The film is watered down and is carried entirely by Christian Bale's performance. Without him doing meme lines it would be unwatchable.

Starship Troopers is leftypol shit

This thread has been posted everyday this week, because the OP is trying to get us to do his homework for him.

I only posted yesterday but expect more threads, once I like something, I make sure it's the only thing the board ever discusses. Unless I'm lazy

Bladerunner is better than Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? though.

2001: A Space Odyssey

If we're willing to expand into Yea Forums territory, I've always found The Crow to be a much better film than its source material. It's more focused, the soundtrack adds a lot of atmosphere, and the casting from top to bottom was fantastic.

The sequels, though ...

I feel like One Flew over the Cuckoo's nest and To kill a mocking bird are pretty close

Fight Club

OFotCN is dogshit compared to the book.

The movie was so much better, the author retconned the book and just wrote a sequel to it.

This

But also, Rambo 1

Dilate

The lefty commentary is weak enough that it also works as a right wing propaganda film

Also this.

i heard that the trainspotting book is worse than the movie, can someone confirm?

>it's a timeless classic... gulpgulp... this soi drink is so delicious...scary shark is scary

The Princess Bride and Forest Gump are both better than the books that they're based on.

Correct on the gimli part you’re dead wrong on everything else

The Natural
The Shining

Ah yes the movies only give us the REALITY of what happened in Middle-Earth, the place that exists

Nothing by Neil Gayman is really worth reading, but Stardust and Coraline are good movies.

frankly I can't think of a case where this ever happened.

American Psycho

1984
