The Legendary epic format is very hierarchical, very historical...it's viewed as being highly perspective-based, whereas the Postmodernist epic considers 'the human condition' in general.

Allegorical drama is mostly elegy and satire and those elements contribute to its bad quality.

The funny thing is that while Lucas crafted a Classical symbolic drama, Johnson managed to do something unique by combining mediaeval allegory with postmodernist allegory.... if he concentrated more on Luke as a character we would see just how syncretic he was being.

As awful in terms of writing and dialogue as the prequels, but with absolutely none of the creativity or heart of George Lucas. Also I don't know if it's just me, but the movie felt downright intentionally spiteful towards the original trilogy and its characters. It didn't develop the characters in any consistent way nor it had any coherent plot to speak of. Killed off the main villain for no reason, killed off Luke for no reason, turned Luke into a murderous psycho for no reason, also a coward and almost a traitor, again for no reason. It feels like if Rian had a bunch of shit ideas and when Disney realized he was going to ruin the movie they forced him to backtrack some of them, covering them up with more shit ideas of their own. The result is this embarrassing stinky poo that made a Han Solo origin story movie be the biggest bomb of the 2010s

and if you do add Star Wars then you have inconsistency in tone with the original trilogy (the OT was a space fairy tale), which is what already ruined the prequels.
