Read again. Metalocalypse was pretty much the last good original animated content. The fact AS corporate and Brendon couldn't agree to terms was a shame since he had the whole finale planned out, but since there wasn't a deal in place, the show just faded away with nothing new ever coming from it or having no actual closure. Metalocalypse was a genuinely good show.

The revival of Toonami pretty much sealed the deal and made it pleb central. Granted, a lot of the anime they choose were subpar (Blue Gender, scryed, Wolf's Rain, Witch Hunter Robin), but they were at least something experimental and new.
