Book 3 is on par with the original series and has some of the best and most interesting set pieces and fights in the entire franchise.

a major flaw in the atmosphere of Korra is that there's no Aang, Momo, or Appa. they tried too hard to recapture the mythical/whimsical/adventurous tone, but when it's a teenager and a polar bear instead of a child a monkey and a flying six legged bison, it all feels wrong.

you can tell that they struggled immensely in nailing Korra's character because they're trying to force Zuko and Aang into the same body. everything in ATLA was centered on Aang's mystic childhood and it allowed other characters to serve as foils to not only aang, but the entire avatar universe, in the best way possible
