If Stannis does die in the battle (obviously not to Brienne) than Davos would serve under Jon to avenge Stannis. Jon might impress the Northern Lord’s so much that they name him KiTN then and there after winning and since Davos was the one to go for Rickon GRRM will either have Manderly say Rickon is too young and Jon has proven himself or Davos will show up and reveal Rickon was found dead leaving it open for Jon to rule the North. Either way my point is Davos would serve Jon in the books if Jon defeats the Boltons and thus avenged Stannis.

Stannis isn't dying to the Boltons in the books, he'll either die to the White Walkers, or he'll march South with the North's support and fight fAegon at the Trident (its obvious GRRM wants to make Robert allusions to Stannis, and Rhaegar allusions to Griff). Both get roasted by Dany's dragons moving in, taking the role of Randyll and Dickon. Jon doesn't need to get 'voted' in as King in the North, he was technically legitimized as a Stark by Robb's will, so there won't be any 'I'm not a Stark xD' memes.

Melisandre also won't have such a major role that she does. She and Selyse will burn Shireen and Stannis will just kill them both, opening him up to potential marriage and alliance with the Tyrells, but it won't be realized because Cersei will try to blow them up, partially succeed, and get hanged by peasants while fAegon takes over half of her role.

Her most immediate problem (which she knew was a big issue in season six when she said “an uncle OR TWO” don’t belive a woman should rule) is that Aeron Greyjoy is still alive and the two previous kings were Balon and Euron, his only brothers who left no sons as of Yara’s rule. Victarion doesn’t exist in the show so no other brother to compete with and Theon is dead. Aeron would have absolutely no doubt that he is now the rightful king and if he truly believes a woman can’t lead then he would try to take it. He also would surely have many supporters from both like minded Ironborn as well as people that think Yara is a complete failure (threw in with the mass murder Dany and is also afraid of dogs).

There isn't, which is why I said she won't succeed in the books. She'll fail and die, Boltons will die fairly quickly to Stannis as well. D&D really like leaving malicious villains around for some retarded reason after they've passed their expiry date. GRRM's story doesn't need either the Edgy Boltons or insane Cersei around.

There are other foes for Jon to overcome if he becomes KiTN or under Stannis' command and KiTN later on when Stannis does eventually die. There's Barbrey Dustin and her potential plans for reestablishing the Barrow Kings, there's the Vale and LF being a genuine factor rather than a meme character, as well as Manderlys' own interests to keep in mind of. Remember smaller lords in the books aren't a background like they are in the show and have their own interests.

D&D cut all that shit out, so they just threw Stannis' plot arc onto Jon and made Edgesay more powerful than he would be. Hell its possible Roose kills Ramsay rather than the other way around, before dying to Stannis.

It has a ton of really rich land around it, and even in its ruined state it's the biggest castle in Westeros. One of the biggest reasons it was never fully rebuilt was because it was just so huge that it would have cost a fortune/taken forever to build (the other reason is that it's a great symbol for why you shouldn't cross the Targaryens).

They said before in an interview that one of the best performances they filmed was Stannis’s extended death scene but they realized after it didn’t fit his charachter so they cut those lines. They were filmed though. It’s just amazing it took them that long to realize it didn’t fit. I still would like to see the full scene one day.

In the AFFC start which is the only one which you should be playing if you play Jon, Dany is stuck in Meereen far away where she can't help you at all. She can give you a dragon but I've never been able to ride one as Jon.

I don't know what he was talking about, but there's pretty good reasons to have Dany as a wife, the biggest is the dragons she brings, if you can become a dragon rider, you will become a beast capable sieging holdings with way more men than you have and in almost no time, which is just fantastic, plus of course they destroy enemy morale in battles.
She also is a dragon rider, so if you can have her commanding armies she will use her dragon to siege holdings, with two dragon riders even the strongest holdings will fall in almost no time.
Also if you are a dragon rider you get the dragon conquest causus belli, which means you can conquer. A lot.

She also has pretty good stats, and half of your wife stats are added to your realm, so that's good, and she has decent traits to pass down to your kids if you're going for some eugenics.

The biggest minus is trying to have kids, I don't remember if she becomes more fertile after a certain point or her stillborn chance is high, but that's the big minus.
