Capeshit is literally like a drug to these people. Furthermore social isolation has made it difficult for people to infer a characters motivations or actions without it being explicitly explained to them via extremely hamfisted plot mechanics. They need to see a superhero face some existential struggle and lose their powers in a literal sense, since they cannot understand when a character feels hopeless or powerless due to realistic circumstances. Capeshit makes everything extremely digestible since each plot beat is extremely literal.

Reset the series completely and make it a period piece. Bond can do cloak and dagger stuff during WW2 as an SOE operative in his early 20s.

Then you can start adapting the novels again in the 50s as a man in his 30s.

And then again in the 60s in his 40s.

Of the last 2 godzilla movies I saw, the Toho one that had 10% of the budget of the Legendary one was better.
