I don't get it

I don't get it
Where they aliens?

They were future robots that upgraded so much they seemed like ayys.

Or they were demons that were afraid of holy water.

>where

Just saw a thread about AI with the same plot twist

That was the joke.

This movie bit hard. Every single one of these women was a complete retard.

Its an unfaithful adaptation of a book that is a thinly veiled copy of Roadside Picnic.

Literally Stalker for the social media generation.

The sequel, Authority, is also somewhat "inspired" by Snail On The Slope, also by Stugatsky brothers.

The third book in the series is a humiliating display by someone who has written himself into a corner and can't find another Stugatsky book to dumb down to get him out of it.

Literary criticism has almost completely failed at this point, I have no ideas what the reviewers are playing at.

Are you from Yea Forums?

Jews aren't aliens

Damn. I didn't realize it was a rip off of Roadside Picnic. Still enjoyable esthetics, especially in theaters.

is there black male white female brain washing in this movie

What is the point of these kinds of movies that just end in despair and everyone losing?

The alien was our propensity for self destruction

Higher dimensional entity using our reailty as a petri dish .

Isn't Pornhub enough for you people? There's plenty of WFBM movies there.

Menopause

Yes. In the first 15 minutes of the film, the main character cheats on her husband and gets blacked, for absolutely no reason. The important part is the cheating, the race if the person she cheated with could have been anyone, but they just had to go with a black male.

to provide suspense for ultra normies like you who want a happy ending every time if you're not sure you'll get one

Oh ok. I thought it was just so nihilist redditors could get their rocks off to how hard life is.

absolute trash movie

What are you a toddler? You really need every movie to have a fairytale ending?

Good soundtrack.

Perhaps in the end the aliens were the terrible haunting mistakes and resultant crippling depression we made along the way

I don't need it to end in the heroes lose and everyone on earth faces imminent extinction. What the fuck is the fun or worthwhile message from that?

there was an alien deus ex macguffin sphere

did you even watch this shit?

>when you think you got singles but on closer inspection they are actually dubs

yes there is
it's not surprising since the director comes from a family of very influential people in england. not exactly white too. has some arab blood in him.

The bear was spooky atleast

there's gonna be sequels based on the books

Thought it was some solid cosmic horror smothered in some comfy nihilism. It wasn’t sci-fi at all in my opinion. I really enjoyed it.

No there isn’t. The movie was not financially successful. Not enough splosions.

>doesn't see her husband for one fucking year
>cheats on him
seriously what the fuck

No it was more of a "fire"

Imagine if there was a planet somewhere where they never had experienced fire. A meteorite crashes down and starts to "create a field" of fire. The species are completely bewildered. Everything this red field touches becomes black and corrupted. Everything that touches it becomes "marked".

This is what happens in this movie. It's a meteorite that lands and has a slowly spreading physics effects we're not familiar with. It might look intelligent due to our lack of comprehension and might leave permanent mark of people want went into the field just like burns do but that doesn't imply alien intelligence.

Wow. Thats a perfect analogy.

You are probably white with a high IQ.

What's intelligence anyway?

The nerve tissue reaction process for adaptation to ever changing environments?
The meteorite doesn't adapt to environments - it creates environments or alters them

So it doesn't need intelligence

High point: The bear scene.
Low point: Anything with Tessa Thompson.

The anomaly represented a cancerous tumor.
