People hate on him for screaming, but have you tried doing it the way he does? It's not easy. Doug Walker is a genius and a really talented comedic performer. It's a shame we don't see in him real movies or tv. Maybe he's made too many enemies in the entertainment world lol.

Remind that while his quality of work dis decline, it really only did slightly The real reason he's less funny now is because you gee up and your palate for what is "funny" matured.

The past two weeks I decided to rewatch a lot of his old videos starting from the very beginning. A lot of them I haven't seen since they first aired back in the day, and I'm really surprised how well his humor holds up. I genuinely laugh at them more now than I did a decade ago.

I think one of the most interesting things I realized about Doug's videos, is he actually commands your attention. I initially had the marathon as background noise while I worked, but I realized eventually I couldn't do that anymore because his physicality, facial expressions and acting he does while doing his reviews makes it hard to enjoy them as just an audio experience. Which honestly makes him a step above most other people who did this sort of thing, as you can easily put them on as background noise.

His jokes are still really good when he's making fun of movies. He still gives me genuine keks

He has a good eye for timing and delivery with his jokes, I'm surprised how racy a lot of his older reviews are by today's standards too. It's sad because they're still really tame, but it's weird how much difference ten years can make on the internet. Just a few episodes ago I watched one where he dropped the n word, I can't even fathom the response that would have gained if that was a modern episode of the show

I honestly think that the effect of the Plinkett reviews on modern commentators might be why I'm starting to enjoy older NC stuff more than I used to. I really hate the smug and aggressive delivery of lots of the people making similar content nowadays inspired by RLM. Doug when he does it doesn't come across as self-imposed superiority over the writing staff of the stuff he's reviewing and is just a loser making some comedy roasting a movie he may or may not have enjoyed watching.
