This is difficult to explain to someone who doesn't already get it, since you need a certain level of perceptiveness in the first place, and even if I tell you, you still might be puzzled.
But at the very core of it all, it's the case of someone who looks attractive/charming/whatever positive trait you wanna insert, but ISN'T intimidating either.
He's the guy next door who you wouldn't worry about approaching. He doesn't seem like a douchebag. Most of his characters appear authentic in movies, which furthers to that image.
He's the guy who no one noticed, who sat in the back of the classroom, and eventually blossomed into a butterfly. He made something of himself, but didn't step on other people to do it (at least that's how it appears).
He's that cute girl next door who isn't overly sexy, but who you sometimes like to daydream about.
And most of all he seems normal. All of his seemingly negative traits, like the shyness and occasional "autism" or whatever, are simply normal human traits. Us girls are fine with average, believe it or not. You don't have to be this 20000 pound, muscle bound superstar with an 11 inch dick, who just so happens to have confirmed kills in Afghanistan.
Adam Driver is sexy for similar reasons. You can tell he's just a normal guy who is passionate about his craft, and doesn't have any ulterior motives or is narcissistic.

I'm aware of his past history, and maybe that's why I mentioned him after my "confirmed kills" tangent, but he's still pretty average overall. He's no Alain Delon. He looks odd.
