Game of Thrones vs LOTR who wins?

That's not true because the weight of the last 2 episodes also heavily rested upon a strong finish to wrap up the entire series, not just to move the story towards the end. It failed in its main objective and was loaded with plot holes, inconsistencies, inorganic dialogue, etc. etc. etc. in nearly every single scene in order to reach the ending they needed to get to. Bran Stark doesn't even remotely function as a main character, let alone him being his glue that suddenly brings everything together with his "great" story, then you're supposed to just assume what about him afterward as king?

That's conveniently excusing that the last season had one major objective in mind and utterly failed to deliver on it If the ending didn't make sense, then you shouldn't have written and filmed that ending. It's that simply really, it's not rocket science.

George RR Martin has worked in the TV industry, he would likely recommend the same thing instead of embarrassing yourself like Game of Thrones did.

GRRM fucked up the books too, there's no way he is going to be able to provide a satisfying ending, he either won't finish them or the end will be shit.

Game of Thrones plays too much with fantastical elements while still trying to be le-serious-political-drama, the ending will have to fuck one of those threads, either it will be unsatisfying in the fantasy elements or unsatisfying in the real politic elements, you can't make both work at the same time

but while the charade is running he gets to throw a lot of flashy things at the reader to keep them distracted, which is good i guess

i'll agree that the TV series choose the worst solution and was unsatisfying in BOTH the fantastic and the political elements, instead of ruining one and sort of salvaging the other

but the political part was already kind of ruined with the septum 9/11, and with Littlefingers and Stannis death, and the white walkers plot was not developed enough by the point we got to last season to provide a nice fantastic wrap up for the series

LOTR is memorable. In 50 years it may still be a current topic in some more or less wide circles. I'm not sure the same is true for the HBO GoT TV show or GRRM books.
