I'm a Newfoundlander and I no longer go for the hunt because I have a good job, but I went out a few years in a row and I fucking loved every minute of it. The cold is bracing, it's exhilarating, exciting and thrilling to go up to these fucking seals and crack them in the skull. After your first few kills, you get the knack for a fast swing that kills them in one hit, but the other seals know exactly what's happening.
For those who may ask;
Yes, I sell and eat seal meat, I sell the skin, the fat isn't used like it was in my grandpa's time, so sorry about that. Fuck the seals though, without the hunt they'd eat the fuck out of our already depleted cod stocks. Seals are like the rabbits of the sea.
