Young Jonas thinks Michael killing himself set in motion the events that led to the night in the cave where Mikkel travels back. This is actually a lie of omission by Adam, the "loophole" out of the time loops is something else. He needed Young Jonas to travel and speak to Michael for another reason, perhaps to meet Claudia and ensure Michael kills himself. Maybe Jonas not being there would have changed something in his plan. We already know Adam is aware of multiple timelines as well.
