Unironically a way better moving than 3 and a much better end to the series. The stupid twitter bait doesn’t detracts how solid it is.

How can anyone like this. Woody literally gives up his life so he can be blacked by Bo just because Bonnie won't suck his dick like Andy used to. And on top of that he can't even talk because he gave it to a thot that kidnapped him.

Terrible movie.

are those the bogdanoffs?

I'm not gonna see it? Why can't he talk?

Phone call for you

>barely any development
>buzz barely in it and is retarded
>other toys do nothing the entire film
>uneven pacing
>not funny
>everyone out of character
>no justification for woody leaving
>contradicts other films multiple times
>forced emotional ending because toy story 3 was sad

Attached: the bait is no good.jpg (330x179, 20K)

He means he can’t use the voice box, Woody can still talk fine.

I liked the movie, but they made Woody so much stupider just to make Bo seem smart. Why do movies these days fall for this?

this is seriously the most frustrating kind of movie
it's bad but it's not offensively horrible, or awful it really is just mediocre but like they could've fixed the problems the movie has easily and yet they put out what feels like a first draft and got praise for it I'm sick of this shit

Attached: cool cat.jpg (1280x720, 88K)

>it's bad but it's not offensively horrible, or awful it really is just mediocre but like they could've fixed the problems the movie has easily and yet they put out what feels like a first draft and got praise for it I'm sick of this shit
I felt this way about Toy Story 3 so I’m curious just how bad 4 is

Guys, the message of the movie is a that the only thing that matters is LOYALTY.

Better than 3.

fuck off mario

3 was a much better film in terms of plot, emotion, and character development. Plus it had a very good ending. But 4 was funny as fuck.

>doesn’t detract how solid it is
>detract
diminish

like hell it is. Bonnie didn't even abandon him and he left her ass to live his hedonistic life of sin. Woody is going to be so completely empty living this way after a few years.

i'll be honest I never got the hate around 3. At least in that movie every character has some sort of role to play and has the same personality that's been established over the other films. 4 has little Buzz and barely none of the other toys who just sit in the same location for the entirety of the movie.

This. There could easily be something more interesting if there was dilema Woody faced where Bonnie or her parents were thinking about giving away her old toys including Woody. But Bonnie never interacts with Woody for the ENTIRETY of the movie. The only thing we get is Woody being placed in the closet at the beginning and exposition. So Woody leaving Bonnie makes no fucking sense.

only zoomers hate 3, you're unreliable as a critic

>At least in that movie every character has some sort of role to play
Haha Buzz is Spanish!

3 was mediocre but gets all the attention because of the incinerator scene.

Hahahahah yeah i do remember. But in 4 haha Buzz is just a retard in this one!!! Remember how STUPID he was in the previous toy story movies?????? Lmao he doesn't even know what a CONSCIENCE is XD

Buzz is just autistic. He does manage to do something this time.

Does Andy comes out in this?

right right just like in 2 how Buzz basically set out the entire rescue mission and found Al's Toy Barn, or in 3 when he escapes the daycare room or saves Jessie in the dump truck or even in 1 when he and woody fly in the sky. Toy Story 4 is just more of that CLASSIC Buzz like how he can't come up with any of his own ideas so he presses his own buttons thinking it's his conscience which not only makes him get caught by a carnival worker and put as prize but also HILARIOUSLY crash into a ferris wheel and porta potty AND jeopardize the existence of his toy companions by alerting Bonnie's parents on separate occasions.

andy was kicked out of college for trying to get multiple girls to play with his toys

and also raping a couple

I liked 3 and 4, but I wish Buzz had more to do in this movie. I feel like they only kept him in for marketing, his little moments were good but he wasn't important.
>so he can be blacked by Bo
Stop talking in buzzwords.

>watched the first 3 films for some reason before watching this

4 just felt like a whole different movie. the characters act nothing like way they did before, not that it matters because other than woody none of the main character have a part other than "being there"

not the worst thing ever, but a completely unnecessary tacked on sequel i wish i didnt see

I liked Lotso

>woody no longer makes andy or bonnie happy
>decides to help toys find kids and make them(the kids) happy
it still sorta holds up, it's just that woody doesn't see himself as part of that cycle anymore

>getting mad about a cartoon movie for children
That’s gonna be an oof from me

there's actually like 4 of them in the movie

Bo just deserves to fucking die.

Glad it's doing poorly in China.

Attached: 1561244311940.jpg (354x630, 77K)

Ham is barely on the movie lol

People change. This scenes in canon happens like 10+ years before this film.

This was one of the creepiest movies I've ever seen desu. They literally reward the evil character by ripping out woody's voice box and suddenly make her a good guy. It's fucked up.

Also, every toy was underused. Buzz had literally no character in this movie.

Attached: roadside_picnic_cover_picture.jpg (825x464, 201K)

Lotta loyalty for a cucked cowboy

voice box was given to that “villain” chick. gabby.

i just laughed at Bo Peep being an independent woman who don’t need no man.

for many years she survived being a nomad, basically? with a skunk car?

>literally spend the first two films focusing on how a toy's life is to be played with by a kid
>B-BUT DON'T YOU JUST WANT TO SEE THE WORLD WOODY?
Why are they trying to humanise these characters and giving them free will? They're fucking toys. Just make a film about toys behaving like toys. The Wreck it Ralph sequel did the exact same thing. You can create a story without breaking your own rules if you're smart enough or just leave it alone.

These aren't people, user.

Attached: DVqUsRVVMAAz40_.jpg (331x352, 16K)

I’ll just pretend it all ended in 3. Thank you.

i particularly enjoyed the complete retcon of buzz, woody, and bopeep that completely ruined the dynamics and charm that the old movies had. buzz is now a bumbling retard with no good explanation why, woody is no longer the hard logical leader he was, and bopeep is now an independent wamen adventurer/fighter/tech geek. Also the fact that all characters in a position of leadership were women didn't help. At least they gave bopeep some nice hips and gave us those ass shots.

I rewatched the first 3 this weekend. 1 and 2 hold up spectacularly, 3 is so needlessly dark and traumatic it doesnt even feel like it's in the same series

>$0.5 Disneybucks have been deposited into your account

>woody leaving
What happens?

>Unironically a way better moving than 3 and a much better end to the series.
100% wrong.
What really pisses me off is there's a seed of a really good movie in there, but the finished product doesn't capitalize on it

I think it was supposed to be that bonnie already forgot about him and he had a love interest in bopeep, but neither of these points were developed and communicated properly. bopeep isn't even the same person anymore, but there is never a conflict between them about it. woody just loves her because he loved her before she left.

agree, 1 and 2 are perfect. Something about 3 is just unsettling.

3 is a product of its time just like 1 and 2 are.
they definetly arent part of the same timeline when it comes to cultural spirit.

I realize this is a Pixar–Disney movie. But watching Woody’s insistence on inserting himself into a situation where he’s no longer needed made me think: God, that’s such a baby-boomer move. Or maybe it’s a Joe Biden move. Wait, wait: It might be a Jay Leno move. Whatever you want to call it, it’s a Pixar movie version of a real-life phenomenon in which older men refuse to step aside so that a new generation can step up, take charge, and prove that they are capable of running the show as well as capitalizing on opportunities and benefits that older men have enjoyed for decades.

I guess he just wanted to bang Bo? It wasn't really done very well and just came out of the blue. Although there was a shoe-horned flashback scene where Woody and Bo have a moment and they depart one another because they barely had any good chemistry in the previous films. I assumed when reading the spoilers a month ago from the novel that Woody left to help any other abandoned toys out there to find their kid, but the film doesn't tell us and Bo Peep just wanted to explore.

he abandons Bonnie to stay with Betty in a random carnival

>I wish Buzz had more to do in this movie. I feel like they only kept him in for marketing, his little moments were good but he wasn't important.

Holy shit, this.

I liked 4 but Pixar seriously didn’t know what the fuck to do with Buzz.

3 was about all of the kids who grew up watching the original Toy Story movies becoming adults. It's why Andy is moving out to college and it's a darker movie overall

Pacing. The plebeian’s critique.

It felt too short to me. Everything felt super rushed, especially the end and they never really drove home the point of any of their themes, just scratched the surface.

wheres the bopeep porn

i need those hips

I haven't seen the movie, but this all sounds like they betrayed the spirit of the first three and butchered the characters to boot.

FUCKING THIS

rumor is that Disney has not been really happy with Tim Allen and probably would have removed him all together if not for his importance in the Toy Story brand

The Toy Story franchise is the closest thing we have to an undisputed national anthem, a popular belief that celebrates what we think we all stand for — cooperation, ingenuity, and simple values, such as perpetual hope. This fact of our infantile, desensitized culture became apparent back in 2010 when I took a knee on Toy Story 3 and Rotten Tomatoes sprouted death threats — as if I had made Ilhan Omar–style comments against the history of America and its institutions.

That mob-like mania is depicted during a fairly creepy sequence in Toy Story 4 when cowboy doll Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks) explores an antiques-and-consignment store and is threatened by a menacing phalanx of lookalike, think alike, act alike Pee-wee Herman dolls. It’s a Pixar vision of a high-tech lynching, but this mad dash by revengeful analog gadgets also, inadvertently, symbolizes the conformity that has taken over amusement culture: The Toy Story franchise proves that movies (especially from Disney and Pixar) are produced to be critic-proof.

Attached: armond-white-hedcut.jpg (200x200, 24K)

I'm sure it's good and I might watch it at Christmas, but really, why does anyone care about this shit? If you're childless, over 18 and going to see this at the cinema you gotta get your head checked. I kinda get Incredibles 2, as that's more adult. But Toy Story is the same thing everytime and straight up for toddlers. Just don't be a cinema creep.

the first movie had a woman operating a vehicle. its alkways been feminist trash

This movie was terrible.

>capeshit is more adult

Attached: 1524550615269.png (768x752, 168K)

I love this man. I understand why most people would give it a positive review, because it's probably a good kids flick. But Armond doesn't just review films as a product, he reviews us all.

My heretical point, when writing about Toy Story 3, was that this insulting franchise delimited movies — particularly those targeted at children — as no longer expressive art but mere products synonymous with toys and the utility of toys: All reflection and imagination is left to the manufacturer. There’s nothing for the viewer to do but worship the formula.

In Toy Story 4, the familiar characters including Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), are joined by a new creation: Forky (Tony Hale) is not an expensively manufactured doll but a doohickey handmade by Bonnie, this story’s new human child progenitor (a mixed-race girl to replace the original white boy Andy). Bonnie invests wishing into Forky, a plastic spork outfitted with pipe-cleaner arms and pasted-on eye decals. No different from a perfectly used ragdoll, Forky recalls the lonely desperation of Blade Runner’s toymaker who said he made his friends himself. But that notion is even darker and more complicated than Pixar’s nihilistic Wall-E. Thus, Bonnie’s awkward, Asperger-spectrum imagination brings unfair competition to Pixar’s toy-movie monopoly, so Forky is characterized as a snarky, neurotic outcast, an existential threat to the regular toy characters who are easily marketable tie-in products.

Attached: armondwhite090223_250.jpg (250x375, 13K)

>human family dealing with change
VS
>pieces of plastic dealing with change
well?

Toy Story 4’s unsurprising journey-home plot confirms that Pixar practices Big Tech industrial hypnotism. Fans — Pixarnoids — who don’t think outside the toy chest, or even care about the development of ideas, will settle for routine, politically correct placation. This comes in the form of Woody’s old flame Bo Peep (Annie Potts), who returns from the first film as a newly empowered woman. She even instructs Woody about “change.”

But if Toy Story fans are also film students (Pixar has given rise to a new category of unapologetic but not necessarily cinema-oriented geek), then Bo Peep will disturb their passive enjoyment. As a digital creation, Bo Beep’s plasticine sheen and feminine curves recall Robert Zemeckis’s eerie Welcome to Marwen, where female doll figures (whether heroic or villainous) came to life as representations of the social fears and psychopathology of its damaged protagonist, Mark Hogencamp (Steve Carell). Welcome to Marwen flopped because it fell between family-movie escapism and a social-justice victimhood tract. Zemeckis couldn’t navigate reality and fantasy and then trivialized the issue of post-traumatic stress by using superficial, high-tech placebo.

At least recognizing the desire to escape into childhood fantasy gave Welcome to Marwen substance worthy of viewers’ attention. Having exposed Hollywood’s animated anthropomorphic impulse, it relates to the current era of political hoaxes in which the struggle for political power (“control of the narrative”) reveals a loss of conviction and sense of futility.

But when Pixar introduces a new stuntman doll named Duke Caboom, he is redundant next to Buzz Lightyear. Duke Caboom offers nothing close to the giddy delight of that relentless, surreal, slapstick taxi-cab battle in John Wick 2. A less enjoyable franchise is perpetuated by Toy Store 4. Pixar continues to indoctrinate viewers into childish, compulsive consumerism.

Attached: 0.jpg (200x200, 8K)

of all things to hate why pick duke caboom? he wasn't bad. he could be done better, but the idea behind him wasn't bad and i thought he was funny. there are way bigger problems with this movie.

>advertising with Hamm
jesus

Based Armond.

He’s right. Buzz takes a back seat because he and duke are in the same role.

Woody’s reasons for leaving are very plainly laid out in Gabby’s monologue about being a toy that never got played with, whereas Woody has had a lifetime of being played with. Woody doesn’t leave because of Bo Peep, he leaves to help lost toys find kids who will play with them, which they show him doing during the midcredits scene. They narratively give Woody the push to leave by having Bonnie ignore him in the beginning, she never plays with him and Jessie is her sheriff instead. There’s also two conversations that show Woody still can’t get over Andy.

Why didn't they just go to Japan and meet anime toys

3 is great

>buzz barely in it
Tim Allen is considered bad now because he's a conservative

Same reason why they make him a literal dumbass in this movie despite being the rational one in TS2.

Just that poster makes me never want to watch this fucking (((garbage))).
Bopeep has pants, negro toys, the gimmick characters.
Fuck off

>hot sexy animu girls figurines moving and moaning in kawaii voices and with a lot of panty shots and mayba even some sexy lolis
Just take my money already

This is every modern Pixar sequel where the roles are reversed welcome to the future and expect to see more of this

I actually would've liked to see a short or an AU film in which Woody actually goes to Japan and changes his mind.

They did the same thing with Bonnie’s parents

>oof
why are you still alive, redditor?

>PTSD body pillow character

could be funny

>"i must be loyle to my boo"

Buzz was “rebooted” last movie

Woody is a great hero and character and he sticks to his principles throughout the whole 4 movies stubbornly- doing as much as giving his organs to save a toy to make his girl happy. You're all nimrods if you can't see this.

Andy is an adult now, the scene is not pointless.

I havent seen this and i don't intend to, is there a time skip at the beginning just how there was between 2 and 3 since it took real time, or 4 picks up right after 3?

It's only like a year or two after 3. Bonnie is starting kindergarten.

You can accomplish that without having a stuffed bear running a concentration camp and the toys being confronted by the flaming, gaping maws of hell for no reason other than shock value

>Cut to buzz reaction shot
>buzz is also in the crowd shot

what lazy animators didn't notice this obvious error?

What a shame, i thought these movies were supposed to take place in "real time".

That's why i liked 3; the characters, plot and my life continued during those years between 2 and 3.

This one came too late for me to be invested in, it feels unnecessary and they changed Woody's voice actor in my dub.

Toy Story is literally about the existential crises of humans placed onto toys you retard

When you play with a toy you are projecting human emotions and sentiment onto them

Not memeing, this film genuinely looks soulless.
Disney has absolutely lost its magic the past 3 or 4 years.

Why can't this company leave anything good alone on its own?
It was already bad enough getting those pointless straight-to-video sequels/prequels at the turn of the millenium (besides Lion King 2), but now we've got those garbage live action remakes and a sequel to a definitively-concluded trilogy.

Attached: image.png (1169x857, 144K)

Why do histrionic manchildren who've never had sex have such a complex over Disney?

I dunno, you tell us ratto.

>Toy Story 1-3

>Toy Story 4

I wonder why

Attached: mfsdrt.jpg (452x523, 15K)

>just because Bonnie won't suck his dick like Andy used to

That's a completely valid reason to leave. Are you like one of those "nice guys" that keep hounding a girl after she rejected you?

Get over it and move on.

>no matter what
No one said that. Woody was loyal to Andy because Andy was loyal to Woody.

any sjw/feminist scenes? im skeptical when it comes to animated disney movies after cars 3 and wreckitralph 2

>he forgot about the second buzz
pure kino

Because Disney has a monopoly on their childhoods.

>Pixarnoids
oh yeah, I'm using this now

yes

>We stick together and we see it through
>WRONG

It's never about Disney's overwhelming market share, though. It's always THEY'RE RUINING MUH CHILDHOOD

sneed story

i can't believe they decided to release this movie with woody and buzz just splitting without any discussion whatsoever. buzz is just like "its cool woody you can leave me forever just to get your dick wet" and woody's like "ok see ya never".

I appreciate Armond and how he offers against-the-grain viewpoints on movies, but this review seems kind of fucking insane with how he just mentions completely unrelated movies based on the thinnest of tangents
Maybe I just don't get it

Disney doesn't learn

fans don't matter. its about indoctrinating the masses with leftist propoganda.

Leave film school, immediately.

Bo Peep being an action girl and not being a damsel in distress/wife at home might set red flags to the average incel.

god forbid people talk about movies on a tv and movies board.

The franchise is dead

>g*d
GRRR

can you speak english?

Woody gets fulfilment from being played with and buzz can see that Bonnie will probably never play with him.
The guy almost died for a retarded spoon because he feels so useless. He also tried to murder buzz when Andy stopped playing with him.
I think buzz being okay with woody leaving was fine and it made sense for the character.

My real issue is that I think Bo should have been a wild traveling toy. Really all she did was change a bedroom for a carnival.
Sure the carnival moves around but it's basically just a bigger bedroom with more kids.

Well I think she was with a kid. Then she was stuck in the antique store for a long time. When it picked up with her, it seemed like she had already been helping old toys get played with. She wasn’t with the carnival yet.

Didn't Bo kiss Woody in the other movies?
I was expecting them to kiss at the end and it was kinda off putting that they didn't; made their relationship seem less compassionate than I thought it should be.
Molly Molly or whatever the villain's name was was pretty weak and I thought it bizarre she got a redemption arc when the other series antagonists always get hosed at the end.

rly?

when is it proper to use "detract" then??

Pete's ending isn't so bad, he gets a girl who'll make him feel loved and a harem of barbies all too himself.

Attached: Amybarbiecolorfacestinkypetedwoeneamtpystory23.jpg (1079x600, 672K)

It's a disney film, of course it's going to be a little progressive. Nothing excessive or demeaning though.

KEK

The only villain who got a bad end is Lotso.

Sid got a union job with a 401k, Andy is going to be living with his mom when hes 30 without a job to pay off his tens of thousands of dollars in student debt from his liberal arts degree

On a serious note, the film could have easily shifted to being more horror. Had Gabby gone full vengeful after the rejection, she'd be plotting to off that girl while Woody and co. try to prevent her from committing murder.

No one saw that one im afraid.

>removed
wtf
yea, cause word of mouth hurt it like toy story 4!

Attached: 1550764682229.png (1012x798, 171K)

Jesus christ, I'm going to ignore this one, and say that 3 is the canonical ending. It was such a good note to end things on.

Yea, just like Stinky Pete.

>end to the series
heh

Even Rotten Tomatoes know its probably not over.

Attached: capture-20190620-184738-vert.jpg (592x453, 158K)

That is what I am doing user. It makes me much more comfortable pretending this film doesn't exist OR is an alternate universe where things are all kinda fucked up, like Bonnie not caring about Woody, Buzz being completely retarded, Bo being an action hero. If someone told me that this was meant to be a Shrek 4 kind of sequel where everything is backwards and its kind of a joke then I would have fallen for it. Everything feels retconned and out of character that it MUST have been on purpose.

>saves your movie

its a fucking commercial to sell toys that no body is buying

I'm actually really glad that everything is "underperforming" this year. Maybe retards are finally done with all the remakes/reboots/sequels, or at least ones that aren't Marvel-related.

It was written by a 43 year old woman & it kinda shows, it's not about a fun adventure for kids anymore

to be honest 3 was just as bad, but at least it wrapped up the trilogy

>just ignore it bro, it will go away

objectively wrong

agree

>literally spend the first two films focusing on how a toy's life is to be played with by a kid
The free toys spend their lives being played with by random kids in the playground, and they love it. Where's the problem?

Pixar have less balls these days, the villain survived in Incredibles 2 as well, while in the first Syndrome got cut up like an orange in a blender

because that would actually be fun

>any sjw/feminist scenes?
You're a walking caricature

Disney pulled Toy Story 3 from its grave, after it had pretty much concluded the plot of it's characters, to honeydick the people who grew up watching the franchise. They knew exactly what they were doing.

Andy made them kiss when he was playing with them in (I think) the first, Bo kissed Buzz as a message to pass on (???), but not a proper one.

Toys sells are down but despite this, Star Wars still beats Marvel

Wasnt Dinseys only flop that year and still reigned supreme. What is your point?

I would literally watch this even if the plot were too basic like learning there are other weird toys in the world.

It's definitely reassurance that despite what Disney and their thrall might have you believe, it's not just some vocal minority who had an issue with TLJ.

This series should've ended at 3. Bo is now a mary sue because every film needs a strong female lead now.

At the end now we have to feel sympathy for the evil bitch doll? Please.

I walked out when Woody came back to the antique store just to save the antagonist doll from the whole movie

I hated this movie. Either because It was boring or because this dumb kid wouldn't stop talking in Spanish in front of me

I'm fairly certain that at the end of 1 or 2, Bo Peep grabs Woody with her shepherd's crook and very blatantly kisses him offscreen.

The worst thing a bout all of this is that Woody chose Bonnie. He pretty much paints a giant sign in the sky to andy going GIVE US TO BONNIE which Andy obliges. Then he throws that all away for a toy that won't even care in a couple months. Bo is in love with the world, not with Woody, it's all selfish on her part. Film only moved me to disgust. And to think this was originally marketed as a love story. It's the furthest thing from it.

>all broken and she's over the concept of being with a child?

There's a comparison to be made with western women.

First movie is the darkest actually. Rewatch it. All the toys act like assholes to eachother and the humor is much darker. There's no "muh toy family" bullshit, they act more like it's a workplace where Woody is the top dog until Buzz shows up

No doubt Bo is the model western woman only to western women
