Netflix dub is more of a case of noticing the actors aren't acting. I'm fine with the original hammed up performances of the ADV dub because I like the theatrical aspect of storytelling, which often involves communication of a mood/idea/etc rather than realism. The modern one feels like a lot of standing around muttering under their breath in place of actual intensity in the first dub.
