Handsome boy is lonely and that make me sad :(

Because you are too simple minded to appreciate it. Stick to capeshit and let the adults discuss kino.

>why do people on /Television & Film/ talk about films

It's a legitimately good movie although a bit overambitious to try to do that universe justice with a story as large as the one they were trying to tell involving Deckard, his kid, Wallace, the off-world colonies, replicants that can have kids, replicants staging an underground rebellion and so on all before even getting into the character of K. A better soundtrack would have done wonders for it as well. Even with its minor deficiencies though, it's still better than the dog shit that usually comes out.

why did he cry> why are they programmed to cry?

It wasn't really better than the original though

Name one better film that has came out since Blade Runner 2049.

Because otherwise the "tears in the rain" line from the first movie wouldn't make sense.

BlacKKKlansman

This is the first movie I have seen live up to the meme hype. Absolute kino. I just watched it three days ago and I can't stop thinking about it. It's easily Villanueve's best, and I can't believe I'm saying that.

I watched it with my mom. I was 25.
I had moviepass at the time but just wanted to pay at the fucking terminal. "You have movie pa-" I shut her down saying I don't care. She probably thought I was pathetic for not seeing it for FREE, considering I ALREADY PAID FOR IT, and she's right.
Anyways she bought both tickets. Thanks. I l love my mom.
We watched in. It was December I think, almost out of theaters. We had the back row to ourselves. She tapped my shoulder and showed a pic of her phone, showing running time, 2 hours 49(?) minutes. She goes "Did you know this?" I say "Yeah I told you it was long." She goes back to her phone.
When the movie was over, most of it spoiled thanks to this dumb fucking site. I walked out and a group of teens in front of me said "That made no fucking sense" and they laughed to it. My mom didn't get it and asked me to explain it all in the didn't get it and asked me to explain it all in the parking lot.
What the fuck is it with this movie? It's so good and apparently nobody gets it?

normies are stupid my man

I didn't even watch the original nor did my friend that saw it with me, we understood it enough from the good story telling and some vague knowledge of the first one

based

only kinographers can understand it in full

WHEN DO I GET THE SEQUEL ???AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I saw it with my dad, he thought it was too slow. Us anons are the only ones who liked it it seems

It is so much better than the first one. That shouldn't have been possible.

>and showed a pic of her phone

Have sex

shut up emcel

For a small second I thought this was about to become some mom and son porn.

The original isnt really that good film wise. Its got a great atmosphere and superb world building but there are some definite pacing issues and some of the performances are just weird.

2049 took what the original did and improved upon it in almost every way

Fuck off

This is the first film I went to the theater by myself to see. I knew none of my dense friends would give a shit about anything other than Anna De Armas or whatever.

I smoked a blunt and had a few beers and just immersed myself in the atmosphere and story. Honestly one of the best film experiences I've ever had. Leaving that theater was one the first times in a long time where I was completely satisfied.

Dune

This is simple basic movie and this shitty ass post made me chuckle

He really is tho.
No homo.

Drive and Blade Runner are overrated trash
Gosling is an overrated mouseketeer with no charisma

You're all stupid pawns in a gayop to confuse your sexual attraction for Ryan Gosling with acting ability. And you all fell in line perfectly

It's been a while since I saw it, but what exactly are people finding confusing?

>ryan gosling realizes that everything he's done has been based on a lie, the lie that he thought he wasn't actually a replicant, but he actually was. He finds out who derived the initial memory that lead him to this lie, and he breaks down because he sacrificed a lot to know this truth (a truth that he probably didn't want to even know).
Am I missing something?

>Drive
>overrated trash
hey wtf user thats one of my favorites :(

Name one better film than BR2049 that has came out in the last decade. It's hard to even work out what was the last film that was better than BR2049 before it came out.

Hopefully never. It doesn't need one. I'm kind of glad that it somewhat floundered in the box office.

That being said, I said the same thing about the original.

The main point of the movie is about what is reality. Is Joy's love any less real than "real" love? Is K's life any less real because he isn't human? You can see these parallels between him and the doctor. You have the scenes of K putting his hand out and touching the falling snow, which demonstrates his foundation in reality despite being a replicant. Where as the doctor does the same thing but feels nothing because she is unable to leave within reality despite being a real human.

K just wanted to live, to truly live. By not only going against society by forsaking his designated role, but by also making the conscious choice to also not follow the whims of the rebel replicant group, K is finally able to believe in his own reality. He's able to believe that he was more than a soulless husk created to serve a function. His ability to break all bonds of control and live and choose freely is what shows him that he has truly lived. That is why he accepts his death.

I saw BR 2049 two nights ago for the first time with a 45 year old Filipina chick who said the original is her favorite movie. We both loved 2049. I think it was better than the original to be honest.

Can confirm normies are really fucking stupid. In the first original star trek reboot i heard a group of guys saying how they "didnt get it". simplest film ever for fuck sake

I actually thought it was the opposite, I thought that he accepts his death because he realizes that that's the only thing that he CAN choose. Finding out that everything he did up until that point wasn't unique, and was just a result of his programming, he struggles to reconcile that it was all in vain -- and that everything he lost in the pursuit for chasing what is 'real' was all for a lie.

I understand the desire to have a "bait and switch" movie where you subvert the plot by making whatshisface some nobody instead of a chosen one. The problem is, no one does it because it's just not interesting.

90% of the time, I'm bitching at the criminals on COPS because they are all too stupid to just get a lawyer and not instantly confess to everything because a cop asked them "whatcha dooing here?". But on the rare occasions they do snag someone who isn't retarded, the show is fucking boring. I don't want to watch someone calmly ask for representation and then just get driven to jail. I want to watch spergs sperging.

And it's like that with blade runner. You think you want it, but you don't actually.

He went against his programming completely and, despite losing everything, was able to create happiness for others of his own free will.

>smud in realistic places where people touch door and lights

have sex

He was way off baseline bro he wasn't acting normal

Neither was Joi considering she destroyed her home base to protect K which would also go against her programming

Hacksaw Ridge is my vote. It was like a campy FMJ.
Haven’t seen Parasite yet, but nothing else on this even comes close to 2049.

one of the first movies in a LONG fucking time that i truly felt was cinema worthy. rewatched it 3 times and it made me feel so empty inside but I just couldn't stop going.

i do admit that the favourite and pain and glory are weak choices but every other film is at least equal to BR 2049 but in particular shoplifters, spider-verse, burning and parasite are easily better.

Burning is an absurd suggestion, spider-verse is mediocre beyond its animation, shoplifters is mediocre Asian drama.
