I fucking loved longmire so much. When I was in the army i had a indian friend. And this show so perfectly encapsulated all his fears and ideas about the white savior.
I miss Branch.
yeah they do a really good job handling the native characters/issues. a lot of the stuff they talk about on the show is extremely accurate and they don't rely on stereotypes at all.
i really like the show because i grew up in montana/wyoming and walt especially encapsulates everything i love about the american west without any of the toxic bullshit. like he's a grumbling old luddite but he's also compassionate, empathetic, and not bigoted like many people from this area are.
i also really appreciate the humor and wholesomeness of the show overall.
fuck branch tho
Binge watched this back to back with justified for the 3rd time not that long ago really enjoyed it felt like it was much older than it really was.
I also recommend the UK TV series the bill (earlier series are better) as it's similar but a bit more experimental
>longmire
I will be really dissapointed if this isn't a show about /fit/ antics
I grew up in west Texas. So I didnt know many indians. But i did know my sherrif. And I think it did a great job of portraying a rural county police force.
thanks for the recommendation, i'll check it out. i tried watching justified with my boyfriend but just couldn't get into it. my boyfriend preferred it to this show, though, which he found "unrealistic" lol. checks a lot of boxes for me, though.
Didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did
every episode was great except the finale which sucked
it's a sleeper
the whole forcing him to retire basically was dumb. and i think him and vic getting together is fine but they way they did it was pretty cheesy, especially after her storyline which is one of the only things i didn't like about the show. throwing a bunch of cliche trauma at female characters is lazy writing
The last season was essentially netflix writers. The first 3 seasons were pure kino.
based joe mega tho. and ferg's girlfriend's mom, lmao
for me it's walt, mathias, and henry.
Mathias is unironically the best written villian in any tv show ever.
how is mathias a villain? did you mean malachi?
Yea i meant Malachi. I havent watched the show in years. But that conniving prarie nigger is literally the best villain I have ever seen on a tv show.
I liked that show, although I thought that the last season by Netflix wasn't that good.
It was nice to see Katee Sackhoff in a big role.
thanks for bumping this thread, blessed user. hopefully this incentivizes people to give this show a watch
yeah, he's fun to hate. i love what they did with nighthorse's character, too. on the first watch through i totally fell for walt's bias against him, even though there was zero he had done to implicate himself as a criminal. like you really believe he is trying to pull one over on everyone but by the end of the show, they're like nope, y'all were just paranoid this whole time and he's actually for real a good dude. really good switcheroo because it's 100% holding a mirror up to walt's/the audience's bias
MUH CASINO
do you have any based joe mega caps? couldn't find any
I met Katee Sackhoff in person, she was very friendly and passionate about both BSG and Longmire. It would be cool if Netflix would do a Longmire movie here and there.
Can't believe I'm seeing love for this series here of all places. I absolutely adored Longmire up until Branch's downfall. I stopped watching about when they started dragging Henry through metaphorical broken glass and started turning him into the new Hector.
I enjoyed the series in passing, but it was about the scene with the stolen kids being adopted and the first hints about Walt might've done (the one where Sail plays over the wrap-up) that I really fell in love with the show. The scene where Walt and Hector go at it and there's this quick jump cut to a spray of blood on the wall was surprisingly visceral and unexpected.
It's a good "comfy" and uncomplicated show, The sorty of show you can relax and have with
I'll watch Gerald McRaney is just about anything, and he was good in this. Series should've ended after Branch's death and Walt's confrontation with him. It was a perfect place to let it go.
disagree, need more seasons
the books are hardcore western weirdness.
VIRGIL IS MY HOMEBOY.
are they as good as the show? worth finding and reading? i couldn't find hard copies except for the whole set which is like $100 (no thanks). downloaded the audio book but turns out i cannot listen to audio books.
he was such a fucking piece of scummy shit.
he was the most realistic tribal leader ever put to tv. there isnt a single one of them that isnt a lowlife sleazy snake.
better, so much better. shit gets fucking REZ INDIAN MEDICINE WEIRD. like totems talking to him, Walt going on a peyote trip and talking to dead people, basque terrorists, cults, drunk injuns, people fucking with BASED WALTs town and getting FUCKING OWNED, bikers, ladies wear getting shit from LUCIUS THE KING OF OLD SCHOOL SHITLORDS, and of course VIC the hardcase.
I love this show. I was so sad when they cancelled it. At least Netflix let it complete the storylines. Yeah, sure, the last season wasn't as good as the others, but at least there was a last season. And they brought back every single side character that mattered and gave them endings. How cool fan service is that? Also, Mathias was so good. Nighthorse too. Honestly I can't say I disliked anyone.
I really liked that walt was wrong about him. It's not often you see that kind of shit in tv shows
i love how cool-headed and snarky mathias is all the time. he's genuinely a good dude but he just does not give a fuck lol. and i loved seeing aaron two rivers again, that scene in the prison library was great.
i'll check em out.
agreed, all the characters are flawed but with a few exceptions they're all really good people, anyway. very well-written characters.
heres my copies. have a great time with them. i dont have the latest book though.
Cheers
holy moly
wow thanks user!
Yeah, Sackhoff is great
glad to be of help. buy the print copies if you can, they are worth having.
and Lucien is fucking BASED AS FUCK and a redneck shitkicking cowboy Han Solo in a cockpit. he dont give a fuck about nothing. I'm honestly surprised he can even walk with his ENORMOUS BALLS.
Mmmhh hmm mmhh A'm Laaaawngmiyar
