Because by saying you're a Centrist, you're pretty much admitting you have little to no political/social opinion, but have a desire to mock people whenever they stand by their ideals in some petty attempt to look/feel better because "At least I'm not (position of controversy)!" It's the ultimate way to dominate an argument, because you literally only have to identify flaws in your opponent's stance and you "win". The irony is that since they are utterly devoid of any identity or characteristics on a sociopolitical environment, they also lack any answer to a problem or position beyond "NOT THAT ONE LMAO!!!", which is as useless as simply never having entered an argument in the first place.
