>Anatoly A. Sitnikov >Death 30 May 1986 >Received fatal dose (about 1,500 roentgens or 390 mC/kg), mostly to head, after being sent by Fomin to survey the reactor hall and look at the reactor from the roof of unit C
A lot of them refused to believe that the reactor could have actually exploded. Either because they were told it wasn't possible or because they didn't want to face the reality of what had happened and think about the resulting consequences.
Also this scene, absolutely terrifying because it actually happened. Gave me chills.
What about the soldier that was just a few feet away that escorted him?
Eli Taylor
He actually died, his picture was shown at the burial.
Blake Powell
Nah, still retarded. That's like fucking someone to check if they have HIV.
Connor Garcia
The overall direction of this sequence is just superb. The wide shot and zoom out creates such a sense of human helplessness and despair, he looks so small and helpless, then the perfectly timed edit and slow zoom in, the actors performance, the music. KINO

Perhaps that's why Fomin went clinically insane and never fully recovered from his mental breakdown.
I havent watched the series but how does he die? The burns really dont look very severe.
Asher Torres
the blisters got infected so they have to amputate his head

>American education.

ARS acute burns don't look that different in real life. t. rad worker

This is more fake news. No one was ever sent to look at the reactor core. Sitnikov responded that he didn't know what the situation was but that it looked dire and asked to be allowed to look at the plant from the roof of unit C. They allowed him to and report back. Unfortunately, in doing so he was exposed to extremely high levels of radiation from a suitcase dirty bomb planted by soviet enemies
At least he got a nice view of dawn over the lakes.
Angel Scott
why didn't they just amputate the rest of his body below the neck, you need your head to survive
Logan Roberts
>Later, before trial Fomin had a mental breakdown and tried to kill himself. Fomin had broken his glasses and slit his wrists with the shards.
Aiden Powell
Frankly I’d like to hear a Soviet perspective on all this. I’m interested in the upcoming Russian miniseries about the disaster, supposedly there’s reason to believe the CIA may have been involved.

What did the five fingers say to the order?
James Hernandez
Could Iron Man's armor withstood the first night radiation of Chernobyl?
He'd probably build a new suit with more radiation protection if he was going into that environment. His regular suit would probably offer some protection for a short time, but he may have some issues with the electronic components getting fried if they were exposed to the radiation for too long.
