I think I watched one episode of it and thought "yeah, no."
People pretend Beast Machines is more "complex", but way more happens in Beast Wars
BW initially just starts as blue vs red, essentially, pretty simple
Then third party aliens get involved, they have to work to prevent fuck ups with time and space, they meet early humans
Then you have the ticking clocks that are the stasis pods, who is going to get them? The Maximals or the Predecons? Beast Machines has nothing like this because the planet is soulless and barrens except for them fighting the same exact vehicon figure over and over again

The great thing about Beast Wars is that it's like a chess game and you mentally keep in check how many pieces are in play (which is even a little better than G1 because they have so many random niggas show up)
Beast Machines has endless vehicon forces, so when the maximals defeat them, it's like... who cares? There's so many of them, this is just another pointless battle to fill up time. Granted, that's not the feeling you're supposed to get, they're fighting for their lives, but they're essentially up against the zombies in The Walking Dead
BW also had some mature themes
There was love, loss, honour and betrayal. It was funny too.
Yeah and BM tries to do those things, but with a very, VERY, small cast, it just can't deliver. For example, it'd be very hard to do a Code of Hero style episode with BM or even a Transmutate episode (another great use of that stasis pod concept)
Beast Machines just halfasses it with the few new characters they introduce for the maximals side "Whoa bro I was just myself and then I woke up as an animal hybrid, isn't that weird?"
Also the level of violence couldn't be pushed because the maximals are technorganic, which BW was great at displaying for a bunch of robots
I haven't watched beast wars so I don't know what is happening here but man it looks funny

Fucking loved this as a kid. It's weird looking at it now - how sparse and barren everything is, how much clipping was acceptable in the CGI back then, how fucking abysmal the textures are.
I don't remember any of that from my childhood because it was fucking awesome
i'm gonna start rewatching it this weekend. i don't care if it looks bad, i have some good memories of BW and nothing beats reminiscing on the good ol' days in this fucked up world we live in

I actually rewatched it with my gf quite recently.
She barely knew anything about Transformers, while I had already seen the show as a kid.
We were both impressed by just how well it holds up, in all aspects except for animation. Genuinely entertaining show with great characters and good humor.
