I usually just round it up, if the service was better than expected or I really like the waitress/waiter I'll throw in some extra. I only don't round up if it was exceptionally shitty. But then again I probably go out eating once a year and not even on a special occasion. We have an alright minimum wage, I'm more prone to tipping someone underage because they make considerably less than an 18 year old and usually they're more appreciative.

some places do for a bit but it causes the greedy ass waiters and waitresses to quit so they can go to a place where they dont split tips and make more, which usually causes the place to switch it back
