The sequels are even better, in that they fairly explicitly state that the asylum Angela was sent to forced the female identity and performed all sorts of electroshock therapy and hokum psychiatry before performing surgery (paid by taxpayers), then forced him to get religion, which combined with all the trauma absorbed from Aunt Martha, turned him into an insane christfag as well, then despite all this, was considered sane and healthy and allowed to get a job at a summer camp under a new identity. Both are interesting in that not once is Angela's trans status used to make her seem crazy/weird (except for a scene where someone comments about a padded bra); the murders and warped morality are fine enough.

Also, Pam Springsteen is pretty cute in a Shelley Duvall/Pat Benatar way.

The weird primal breathing noises are concerning, and the huge mouth gives us the feeling that he was caught in the middle of a terrible act. That's what is great about it. The whole movie is just a predictable 80s slasher with little in the way of actual scares or tension then BAM this creepy, unseen and abrupt ending comes out of nowhere. It's worth dredging through the movie with someone who hasn't seen it just to see their reaction.

If you like happy accidents watch King Cohen the documentary about Larry Cohen. He's famous for filming anything incidental to the shoot that would add value to the movie. So for example in Q the Winged Serpent he has shots of people in NYC running in panic for their lives from a winged dragon. In real life those people were running because his crew were firing machine guns from the top of the Chrysler building and all of NY thought it was a terrorist attack. He told his film guys to grab cameras and start filming the crowds running away and the cops arriving. Then he edited those shots into the film. He was a fucking mad man.

Not necessarily, I really do love slashers but I don't really care for the gore or kills, most of it is boring. Dream Warriors, The Dream Master, and Freddy vs. Jason had some good kills. Jason vs the black wrestler guy in Part 8 was fun.

But the best slasher kill I've ever seen was Grady in Nightmare on Elm Street 2, there was actual emotional weight behind it, I hated him watching him killed.

I'm not a big gore head myself, not to say it bothers me, but it can definitely get boring especially when a whole two hours is spent on seeing how 'crazy' they can make the kills. How do you feel about TCM or the early F13 stuff?
