I hate television and I actually liked it. I wish there wasn't the Mary Sue, and I agree about the accents, but the retard who created it wanted it that way. I hadn't watched HBO since The Sopranos ended, well I guess I gave Boardwalk a chance and hated it, same with GOT. The colors are up to taste, but I actually think they did a good job faking film, the best you can, on an arri alexa. Saving Private Ryan does have very deep colors at times though. That's what happens when you have people who know what they are doing shape the color of a film, everyone tries to copy and paste that desaturated look by just shitting out a color grade that looks literally grey, i.e Marvel and shit, not Chernobyl.

I doubt I'll ever watch this again. There was a lot of unsubtle melodrama, and the direction could have been less frantic, but that initial shot of Dyatlov's face at the start of the series is gorgeous and burned into my brain.

In the period of time they were working (as in time from the initial disaster) it still made a hell of a lot of difference. This distance shot from the show of them running away - i.imgur.com/fNEO8r0.jpg looks farther away and looks to be upon a thicker ledge then this door - i.imgur.com/mXBia0o.jpg Wikipedia says they were trying to reach level 36 but it was destroyed.

But it also couldn't be the ledge (open platform at level +50 according to wikipedia) Valery Perevozchenko saw the blocks jumping in the show - i.imgur.com/yURNmRW.jpg because that was on the side wall and both of the upper side walls were destroyed by the explosion as you can see here - i.imgur.com/i71akcx.jpg
