/WoT/ Wheel of Time

WoT just had its first official casting announcement. The rumor from a few days ago was true and Rosamund Pike will be Moiraine. Source: twitter.com/WoTWritersRoom/status/1141390183641866245

The fact they've got an A-lister for the lead gives me hope that they're serious with this. She's too tall but I can see her pulling off the sternness and warmth for Moraine.

They'd better cast a redhead as Rand. I'll be fucking pissed if they continue the Hollywood redhead purge

Yeah, I'd have preferred someone smol for Moiraine, but that's pretty much the only "complaint" I can imagine about this casting so I'm getting cautiously optimistic.

>The fact they've got an A-lister for the lead gives me hope that they're serious with this.
This is exactly what I felt. I've assumed that WoT would get the Shanara treatment, looking like a cheap porno, but it seems like they are planning to do it well. I'm unironically almost looking forward to this show.

Eh I guess I can look past the height since I do like her. Tbh I always thought it was cute moiraine was tiny

I just hope the Trollocs don't look too fake.

>almost looking forward to this show
>almost
Same.
I don't think her height should matter. With someone like Rand, being taller than the other Andorans is important because of his Aiel background, but with the others, it should not matter who is slightly taller, shorter, whatever. I don't expect them to be able to get anyone as strong and buff and shaggy as Perrin, who also happens to be as convincing an actor as Rosamund Pike. Sometimes, we have to sacrifice perfect looks for perfect function
This boy had the Dark Ones own basedness

>I'm unironically almost looking forward to this show.
Same, but it depends heavily on the main cast. It'll pretty much decide whether I'll allow myself to get hyped or lose all hope.
>Tbh I always thought it was cute moiraine was tiny
Same, and there's also the contrast between her tiny body and commanding presence which was nice.

Holy shit this is so exciting!

I am adjusting my bodice and tugging my braids in anticipation.

I just hope the bosoms don't look too small.

>Rosamund Pike
i was about to say "too old" but then again the aes sedai were always described to have an offputting ageless look

So the T*rk was right. Huh. Her height is a bit of a nagging point because no IMAGINE but I'm sure Hollywood tricks will make her look small and still manage to portray her dominance despite her stature.

Just don't let the Final Fantasy "ethics" department be involved.

For people who have actually read the entire series: are the villains 1-dimensional literal satans throughout the story?

yeah, though some are charismatic and compelling

>Wheel of Time

Someone post the pic.

>are the villains 1-dimensional literal satans throughout the story?
Demandred led a life of cuckoldry and failure.

Guess I won't be killing myself quite yet. Who else looking forward to cute twink Mat being dominated by BBQ (big bosom Queen)

Attached: 1523131449056.png (3518x1500, 313K)

No

do we want him for rand or for lan?

Attached: tom hopper.jpg (640x960, 138K)

i literally can't believe they'd show the asha'man dunking on the aes sedai in current year+3

i hope i'm wrong, i'll eat my words

Sean Bean as Lews Therin?

>Demandred led a life of cuckoldry and failure.
Someone PLEASE post the Lews Therin condom-pic.
Don't expect them to take the time and resources to make her small. They won't bother, because it isn't an important part of her character

Too old for Rand, too young for Lan. Maybe Tallanvor?

kino

The grunts tend to be, because they are fucking retards who sold their souls to Satan because they thought it'll get them immortality and wealth. When you start to get to the top dogs they are way more nuanced.

>Tallanvor
>Do a quick search to check if I spelled his name right after the fact
>Find this

I guess Wheel of Time is big in Italy?

To old for Rand

>hopper
user, the answer was in front of you the whole time.
The only casting I actually would really want to see, haven't bothered to do "fan-casting" for anyone else. He'd be absolutely perfect.

>because it isn't an important part of her character
I'm pretty sure there's at least one scene where she uses the trick with the power to make herself look bigger and more threatening, which Rand notes makes the Tower's representatives look less impressive because he's used to it in Cairhien.

perrin? that'd be a great choice too

>I'm pretty sure there's at least one scene where she uses the trick with the power to make herself look bigger and more threatening,
Yeah but the illusion makes her into a fucking giant so the effect is still there.

>because they are fucking retards who sold their souls to Satan because they thought it'll get them immortality and wealth
Or the ones who did it for a laugh and were in for a bit of a nasty shock when the Fade came a calling.

Can you fucking imagine being an edgelord who became a darkfriend during the books and realized he's being drafted into the goddamn last battle on the shadow's side.

So how did these guys get the drop before everyone else?

did any forsaken go to seanchan?

Semirhage.

Semirhage killed the entire royal family there.

oh that's right, i had forgotten about that

I wish she was my MOMMY!

Attached: sjad1TX.jpg (937x1170, 84K)

I'm not even mad at the height since trying to adhere to canon height would probably get way too restricting. Isn't Rand like 6'9? That's just ridiculousl, they shouldn't really bother

Honestly I don't care about the dudes besides Rand. Just hurry up and cast the women already and make sure they have big titties.

Amazon will be the Chad version of Netflix in a year. Screencap this.

Their shows will be Nolan/Jackson tier in terms of budgets and production value. And not as close to as SJW as Netflix. Lord of the Rings, Wheel of Time, Snowcrash, just for starters.

Dark hair? Dark eyes? Sounds like an African to tumblr!

>Isn't Rand like 6'9?
Nah, Rand is "that one guy who's always the tallest in the room" -tier, but he's not a fucking giant. There are also some Aiel who are taller than him as well.

>>Their shows will be Nolan/Jackson tier in terms of budgets and production value.
If we're lucky, they'll get some of the staff who worked on the first two seasons of Man in the High Castle. They did a great job with the sets and costumes.

Attached: 1559266679378.webm (1280x720, 2.24M)

Isn't he meant to be about 6'4" while Perrin and Mat are an inch or two shorter? But yeah, unless they restrict their castings to the Dutch there was no way they'd get such tall actors to fill out the cast. It was just part of Jordan's world that people naturally get taller in the future.

Rand is like a head taller than most men, Perrin is shorter but still taller than average and more w i d e, Mat is average. At least as far as I remember.

i never felt that mat was that tall, average but lean. perrin being taller than most and stocky

Worth continuing the series if I've only read Eye of the world? Read it like ten years ago but I've forgotten most things since I found it too derivative of Fellowship of the Ring, I did like certain things about it like how the Dark One corrupts, Mat, Perrin, the group meeting the tree being and Rand's duel with the servant, etc.

only the first is like LotR, 2 is definitely worth a read

Ummm... What's the Wheel of Time about? You guys on Yea Forums keep bringing up Wheel of Time, and even this "Hyperion" book. What are they about and why do you guys think they would make good movies/films or television series?

It's basically a virgin vs. chad shitpost that lasts through ages.

>it’s an egwene gets spanked until she cries episode

Only thing worth watching for, since they’re going to make Rand into a cuckold.

What else happens? Who are the characters, what's the conflict, where does it take place, in what era does it take place in? Or should I just read the six novels in the Dune series?

stop after god emperor

>Who are the characters
Thor, Odin and Freyr.
>what's the conflict
Lucifer vs The Chosen
>where does it take place, in what era does it take place in
3000 years after a bunch of wizards went mad and used their magic to change the geography of the world and ended their utopia.

More like Wheel of Time to check my watch because this book series and future movie is and will be boring as fuck.

ZZZZZzzzZZZZz.....

I sincerely hope they make it like GoT in that sense, for adults and not for teenagers. I'll be made if I never get to see Rand churning people to shreds at Dumai's Wells.

Will be interesting to see if they go for that look I've always pictured it as if they have a thick layer of makeup on so that their skin is perfectly unblemished and free from any kind of wrinkle.

The author wrote Chapterhouse and Heretics, so yeah, I would read both of them as well as Dune, Messiah, Children of Dune and God Emperor.

Oh, okay.

Is this Rand guy a disciple of Lucifer? And are Thor, Odin and Freyr part of Rand's dungeon exploring party?

yeah but you can stop after God Emperor

>time is a wheel and events repeat with alterations, people also get reincarnated
>during the previous age the world was an utopia thanks to magic, but then some dumbasses broke the devil equivalent out of his prison and everything went to shit
>male wizards didn't get help from women and fought the devil back into his prison, but the male half of magic was tainted in the process and now every man who does magic goes fucking mad
>they tear up the world in their madness and change geography and nations permanently, also, men doing magic is now forbidden because of the whole going insane thing
>the biggest gigachad who ever lived gets reincarnated and has to prepare for another battle with the devil whose prison is now weakening again, he has to rally support from everyone good and fight off devil worshippers and monsters while going literally insane during the process
>all the women have massive tits and pretty much every ritual and disciplinary action is a hidden BDSM kink
>there's also a shitton of references to mythology which basically emphasizes the whole "every story is just an altered another story" -theme going on

Rand is the mc. He's also Jesus, Tyr, Buddha, King Arthur and who knows how many others.

I might also read the two Dune novels that Herbert's son wrote, the ones that conclude the Dune saga he started. I've never read them before, just those six original novels. I'm fine with Heretics and Chapterhouse. I think the Honored Matre and Miles Teg are pretty cool, even the Bene Gesserit.

no rand is basically a messiah character reincarnated every time the evil 'god' threatens to destroy all of time. the main 3 characters follow similar themes as the 3 Norse gods mentioned, one hangs from a tree, the other has a hammer and another courses marriages and fertile land just by walking past ect ect.

Semirhage and at the end, Moghedien is leashed

Attached: Screen-Shot-2012-12-27-at-8.47.55-AM.png (462x388, 198K)

They'd better cut almost all the succession war. I swear that filled three books of content and Elayne was a terrible, stupid character who kept fucking up and just having things go her way.

It's just one guy making the threads, this person does it for free.

The series changes massively second book onwards and you get multiple parallel storylines and more interesting, unique lore and locations

Just so long as they don't waste the budget on high profile actors. That could royally bite them in the ass if they're not careful

Attached: 1504569383540.jpg (4148x2333, 3.81M)

Oh, that sounds pretty cool. The bdsm stuff, is it like naked women, or do they wear fetish gear/clothing while doing the bdsm?

So if the men are forbidden to do magic, are the women still able to use sorcery and witchcraft, or will they also go insane?

So it has Norse mythology, that tree you mention, does Yggdrasil have something to do with the Wheel of Time? Is Yggdrasil the Wheel of Time.

The same guy who does the Wheel of Time threads also does the Hyperion threads?
Who else has read the Dune novels after Heretics and Chapterhouse? What am I in for?

i don't know why but i fucking love her voice, it's so fucking husky and sexy, does she deliberately do that or is that how her voice is?

>The bdsm stuff, is it like naked women, or do they wear fetish gear/clothing while doing the bdsm?
There's a shitton of spanking for punishment and almost every ritual requires the woman to get naked, but the most obvious bdsm-thing are these slave collars certain country uses to subjugate magic using women. It forces obedience and the leash holder can cause either pain or pleasure for "training purposes". They pretty much mindbreak the people who get caught into human pets.
>So if the men are forbidden to do magic, are the women still able to use sorcery and witchcraft, or will they also go insane?
Women can do magic since only the male half of the "True Source" the magic comes from got contaminated. However, you will see more and more men do magic as the series progresses and they eventually clean the male half of the source completely.

the book series is full of fetish stuff but its all mostly implied and subtle. there's an entire culture where someone women are placed in slave collars and forced to serve other women, but its never played as being sexual

>So it has Norse mythology
not explicitly, in this the tree is just a tree but the character has obvious overlaps with Odin. it borrows for a lot of cultures. the wheel of time is a metaphor for the threads that make up creation(and the magic system), threads that a spun into a tapestry by the wheel. time is also cyclical so everything that happens has already happened and will happen again over and over again as the wheel turns.

>but its never played as being sexual
Probably the most overtly sexual stuff comes from the Forsaken: Graendal and her slaves, Semirhage and her mind break, Halima and his dancing.

>in this the tree is just a tree
Well, not exactly. Granted it's an actual tree, yes, but calling it "just" a tree is not really accurate either.

Oh, I guess I'll stick to the fetish/bdsm porn that I am used to. Might check out Wheel of Time just for the fights and battles.

Wheel of Time sounds complicated. Weren't they talking about a "Wheel" in Game of Thrones, were the writers on that show alluding to the "Wheel of Time" series?

I imagine there will be lots of cutting and trimming.

I've said it before, I don't see them doing the harem thing, maybe like good friends or something, two of them might be lesbians, probably Moiraine ends as a lesbian too. Hell they might even condense the romance shit into Egwene or something for like original content.

Dont do my nigger Mat like this.

Isn't Moiraine smol?

oh hey i thought they were just big pretty trees
wot.fandom.com/wiki/Chora

Wheel of Time sounds complicated. Weren't they talking about a "Wheel" in Game of Thrones, were the writers on that show alluding to the "Wheel of Time" series?
its not complicated its a really comfy fantasy series, no where near as complex as asoiaf or Dune, they wheel on Got was some bullshit thing they made up because they needed to give danny a speech just like the 'chaos is a ladder' bs. every season they needed some speech between 2 characters to make the whole thing seem deep and it always seemed forced

>probably Moiraine ends as a lesbian too
she and Siuan Sanche were pillow friends, its in the prequel book

It's probably the biggest (in both popularity and length) classical fantasy series to not get a proper adaptation.

Swords and sorcery, good vs evil, chosen ones , dark gods. It's also much lighter prose Tolkien and more family friendly than GRRM (depending on how much nudity they show and how they deal with the ultra hot bombshell chosen who wears transparent clothing and turns her enemies into her sex slaves).

Story is that the titular "wheel of time" weaves all living things into history with everyone being fated to live, die and be reborn again into a different life, civilizations rise and fall and history mostly ends up repeating itself in endless cycles.

Several thousand years ago, Lews Therin, a channeler, got arrogant with his power and tried to steal The Dark One's power. He ended up unleashing the dark one on the planet and went insane before The Dark One was sealed again in an imperfect seal. There was a prophecy that eventually he'd be reborn and was fated to battle with The Dark One one final time.

Fast forward. You have the world basically ruled by female channelers, the Aes Sedai who control the world through soft power. Male channelers are doomed to go mad because their power is tainted by the dark one.

The story starts out centred on three boys in a small rural town who discover they're Ta'veren, exceptional people who just by existing alter the weave and twist fate around them in extreme ways. They're discovered by Moraine, an Aes Sedai looking for The Dragon Reborn, Lews Therin's re-incarnation who is fated to be the most powerful channeler in the world, go mad and die in the final battle against the dark one.

>Several thousand years ago, Lews Therin, a channeler, got arrogant with his power and tried to steal The Dark One's power
t. 3rd Era Aes Sedai

>Lews Therin, a channeler, got arrogant with his power and tried to steal The Dark One's power. He ended up unleashing the dark one
t. a*s s*dai

They are absolutely going to cut Matt spanking the Aes Sedai which is annoying.

Wonder if they'll change Matt getting raped every night for months (and it being treated as extremely funny)

It wasn't really treated as funny, she put a knife on his throat and starved him if he didn't do what she said. I think at one point Mat was even crying.

>He ended up unleashing the dark one
that was Lanfear opening the Bore.

it's the world's longest antifeminist diatribe

t. lorelet.

Thanks for the explanation on what the Wheel of Time is about, I'm going to go to sleep.

It was though, especially when it was revealed to the other girls and he got embarrassed when they pitied him instead of getting mad at him.

It was treated as Karma for him flirting with bar maids and him it was. He was emasculated, being on the receiving end for a change, and it was HILARIOUS. It was absolutely treated as something light hearted.

>Oof. I love Rosamund Pike’s work but I was really hoping for a WoC actor for Moiraine, BUT an actor of her caliber signing on as the lead is a good portent for the quality of the show, soooo??? Anyway, complicated feelings!
Nervous laughter.jpg

Nope, it was the usual "person in power uses their influence to force themselves on someone" -trope but with the genders reversed.
>he got embarrassed when they pitied him instead of getting mad at him.
They didn't pity him, they acted like it was his fault and didn't take him seriously, you remember wrong.
>It was treated as Karma for him flirting with bar maids and him it was
>you flirt with women therefore it's perfectly ok for you to get raped at knifepoint for months and refused food if you disobey
Are you a woman by any chance? It's always made very clear that Mat is happy with just a dance and a smile and he never pursues anyone who isn't into it. Also, him doing the whole "it's not supposed to be this way" -thing is very obviously his way of dealing with trauma, he's trying to downplay it, but he's obviously upset.

I can't believe this flew so completely over your head.

didn't they unironically hire fanfic writers on the team?

No?

at least its better than who hbo was using for game of thrones then

I'm hoping it doesn't get too much mainstream attention or the inclusive castings will begin.

this, but he did seem to care for her by the end, even before the night he escapes the city. maybe Stockholm syndrome maybe not, but it was clearly rape at the start

You're the one remembering it wrong.

Matt's own internal monologues have him comparing it to his flirting.

The women criticized him for spending every night with the Queen. When they realized he had no choice in the matter, they stop criticizing him and start looking at him with pity, causing Matt to feel even worse.

This show is going to be pozzed as fuck and you all KNOW it. It might be slightly less pozzed than Netflix, but that's like saying someone is less gay than Liberace.
It literally cannot be NOT pozzed, the entire thing is essentially a gender war regarding magic, and the books actually have the women being pretty fuckin evil and shitty. They're definitely not the 'good' side.

TV series is going to twist this all into women just trying to restrain violent men and keep them from reinstating the evil patriarchy and outlawing abortion again, and you all fucking know it.

its already very diverse it just takes a while for them to show up. i'd bet good money they'll make Elayne black

Wasn't there already like big magic battles in the first book? I remember reading some of this series a long time ago.
>budget

WoT is a very bad fantasy novel, filled with mary sues and gary stus. There is a full race of that, god damn it. I m not expecting anything from that pile of shit.

In before the Aiel are arabs and blacks and not the Ninja desert Irish folk Jordan intended them to be.

>Matt's own internal monologues have him comparing it to his flirting.
and he says if the barmaids show no interest he doesn't press them, he doesn't lock them up, starve them and rape them at knife point

Tfw I keep trying to start Wheel of Time but can't get past the first 200 pages

I just finished The Way of Kings yesterday, maybe I will give it one more go before reading Words of Radiance since Sanderson is only 25% done book 4

||As someone who read GoT it's refreshing as fuck to read an unfinished series where the author is actually working on it, even if I doubt he will finish all 10 books||

>Matt's own internal monologues have him comparing it to his flirting.
Because he's coping you dumbass, that's the entire point. He's trying to deal with being raped and that's the only way he can.
>The women criticized him for spending every night with the Queen. When they realized he had no choice in the matter, they stop criticizing him and start looking at him with pity, causing Matt to feel even worse.
Again, they treat it like it was his fault, like "he was asking for it". It's amazing how you can miss the super obvious gender reversal so completely.

Holy fuck discord cuck spotted go the fuck back

They can't do that, then they wouldn't get to black Morgase with Rahvin. Although my concerns have increased on diversity casting now; is Rosamund Pike meant to be indicative of Cairhiens? I can unfortunately see them making the Two Rivers a mini melting pot.

Attached: 1557094889905.jpg (1242x488, 48K)

To be fair the first WoT book is admittedly a Fellowship clone because it had to be to get published. The series becomes its own thing after that.

Don't reply to discord users

That's understandable. To be honest, it starts off pretty boring, though it just might not be for you. Maybe just wait for the show since they'll speed it up.

Don't reply to discord users

>I can unfortunately see them making the Two Rivers a mini melting pot.
yeah which is double retarded because major plot points in the books come form the fact that the Two Rivers are isolated from the rest of the world, its even stated that it had to be so that Rand would grow into what he needed to be

This is downright embarassing

twitter.com/rafejudkins/status/1075496739153428480

OH NONONONONONONO

This will be the next GOT if they do it justice.

The problem is it'a entirely about men vs women, so I can see the modern day social constructs fucking it.

>Mat frowned up at the windows overlooking the stableyard, those he could see from where he stood. Elaborate white wrought-iron screens covered some, white wooden screens of intricately carved piercework others. Not likely Tylin was up there; not likely she would appear in the stable-yard. He had been very careful not to wake her getting dressed. Besides, she would not try anything here. At least, he did not think she would. Then again, was anything past the woman who had had half a dozen serving women seize him in the halls last night and drag him into her apartments? The bloody woman treated him like a toy! He was not going to put up with it anymore. He was not. Light, who was he trying to fool? If they did not grab this Bowl of the Winds and get out of Ebou Dar, Tylin would be pinching his bottom and calling him her little pigeon again tonight.

>“You listen to me! That woman won’t take no for an answer; I say no, and she laughs at me. She’s starved me, bullied me, chased me down like a stag! She has more hands than any six women I ever met. She threatened to have the serving women undress me if I didn’t let her"
>“It . . . appears that I may have misunderstood,” she said soberly. “That is . . . very bad of Tylin.” He thought her lips twitched. “Have you considered practicing different smiles in a mirror, Mat?”
>Startled, he blinked. “What?”
>“I have heard reliably that that is what young women do who attract the eyes of kings.” Something cracked the sobriety of her voice, and this time her lips definitely twitched. “You might try batting your eyelashes, too.” Catching her lower lip with her teeth, she turned away, shoulders shaking, dust-cloak streaming behind as she hurried toward the landing.

Yeah this totally isn't a humourous tone!

Did you even read the fucking book?

Oh, you're right. But she's also an actual writer. I thought you meant people whose only writing experience is with fanfics.

There is nothing wrong with writing doujins.

I think that's just saying she's a huge fan of the series, not that she literally wrote nothing besides fanfics. Didn't GRRM who hates fanfics, write about Jaime beating Rand in his own fanfic or some shit?

because rape is funny when it happens to men

cope

enjoy your gay Jew-led series

>The problem is it'a entirely about men vs women, so I can see the modern day social constructs fucking it.
Only if you take a superficial two second look at it. I'd say it's a story of balance, working in harmony to bring out each other's strengths.

>write about Jaime beating Rand in his own fanfic or some shit?
Yes. grrm.livejournal.com/147038.html
Absolutely embarrassing work from Martin.

I'm sorry you have sub 80 IQ and can't understand when a character is literally coping from being treated like a object. Mat has been a wisecracking prankster his entire life, of course he's trying to pretend it's all just a "game". The second quote also literally proves my point you illiterate fuck. They're basically telling him to act less slutty so he wouldn't get raped next time. This is not a difficult concept yet you refuse to understand it.

>I'd say it's a story of balance, working in harmony to bring out each other's strengths.
which is anathema to feminism and feminists. read the scene between Tam and Cadsuane or any interaction between an Aes Sedai and someone who wasn't. yet in current year the Aes Sedai are going to be portrayed as perfect feminists saving the world and never failing in any way

>yet in current year the Aes Sedai are going to be portrayed as perfect feminists saving the world and never failing in any way
A simple way of checking whether Rafe is hiding his power level might be to ask him if he has seen and enjoyed Gone Girl.

I'm arguing that the series treats it as a giant joke and you're trying to act like those quotes are deadly serious... I don't know how to respond to that stupidity.

His denial internal monologues are the exact same style he uses when he denies being in love with Tuon or how women are stubborn and selfish, completely unlike him.

Mat is a comic relief character, him getting raped it treated as a joke. I'm sorry you lack the ability to read.

Rafe has a huge boner for Egwene, it's gonna be the Egwene show.

And I'm saying the series doesn't treat it as a joke. It's confusing, conflicting and traumatizing and in the end Mat is even forced to feel guilty when his actions end up getting his rapist killed by the gholam when he really just wanted to get away. If you reduce this all to "lol comic relief milf fucking gag" you're a fucking idiot who has barely surface level understanding of anything.

It's usually either women or people who buy the whole "men can't get raped" thing who think it's treated as a joke, because to them it's all just fun and games and Mat is just "frustrated" when he's not in charge like it was all just some goddamn sub/dom sex game. When you actually read what happens, how he's abused and treated and dehumanized, how he is in denial and tries to downplay it and still shows very obvious signs of trauma, you have to be the ultimate brainlet to think it's a joke. Even your own quotes show how he's frantically trying to do everything he can to just avoid her as long as possible. He's panicking and cornered and being manipulated and very obviously distressed because of it.
>and you're trying to act like those quotes are deadly serious
The point is that the reaction he got from the girls wasn't pity, but blaming and claims the he caused it all by being too inviting. The real world parallel with flipped genders couldn't be more obvious, yet some dumbasses like you always miss it.
>Mat is a comic relief character
Oh wait, you're just an actual retard, my bad.

>I'm arguing that the series treats it as a giant joke
maybe apt commentary on how male rape is viewed in the real world. its played off as a joke by the characters but it clearly isn't for the reader

i doubt that since he is a massive faggot

yet another reason to believe the show will be shit

>Here's your Egwene, bro.

How would Yea Forums react?

Attached: River.jpg (592x752, 145K)

On the other hand if he's an Eggfag he might think she's already perfect as she is and won't make any unnecessary changes. I can deal with an accurate adaptation even though I really hate her. I could deal with her in the books and I can deal with her in the show if she's the same.

They're definitely serious about it as GoT has demonstrated that "adult" fantasy can make huge amounts of money.
The show will be terrible anyway, however, as it'll simply be a vehicle for hardcore feminism. All of the male characters will have their parts reduced in scope and importance, and they'll be made incompetent and need to be saved by the women.
Rand will be played by Idris Elba in a red wig.

Too old. Try Alanna.

sounds like derivative shite

Based Stormlight bro spotted

Thoughts?

She is blonde, skinny and has small tits. Moiraine has black hair, big tits and is slightly thicc

>has small tits
Best set yourself for disappointment involving tits for all casting news, user.

balance is misogynistic in todays society.
Women cannot be shown to have any feminine faults.
Men cannot be shown to have any masciuline virtues.

personally i'm not expecting many hot waifus. if they surprise me, then so be it.

I swear Kj Apa better be rand
Only red head giga chad actor rn

I just don't care anymore, bros. Maybe it's depression, maybe it's just the length of time between reading it but I just don't want to see it adapted.

eh, trollocs are just people wearing animal masks anyway. It's okay if they don't look so great.

Yeah. Most of them have -one- trait that they stick to and do nothing else.

she does have the face of an aes sedai

somewhere between beautiful and stern

It's because almost everything created in the last 5-10 years has been shit.

i think she would be better as liandrin

>Moiraine has black hair, big tits and is slightly thicc
Wait, what have you been reading? Moiraine is smol and slender, her bust is fairly modest compared to the rest of the cast and hair can be dyed.

the showrunner already said the Aiel will be gingers

For me, either Morgase or Elaida.

Liandrin was such a wasted villain. I like that she got BTFO by moggy but she just disappeared after that. It's not fair, I wanted to see her get btfo over and over.

Are they going to retcon the men being stronger than women when it comes to magic thing?

Of course, if it makes it that far.

I finished the first book. Sometimes I don’t know what even is happening or if the Mc is losing his mind or in a dream state or something.

i stopped reading at book 8 cuz i got into malazan. it was getting pretty boring.

They can't. That would be seen as a somewhat massive statement of hypocrisy when AHS did it with women being superior to men.

Attached: 1550629393597.gif (607x609, 514K)

You haven't even begun seeing the mc losing his mind at this point, keep going. Also, as said before the series becomes way better from the second book onwards and can become its own thing instead of having to be a LotR clone.

reminder that if they don't explicitely show Mat being used as a sex slave in several scenes they are fucking cowards and should be shot

For me, it's thicc forsaken gf

Attached: graendal.jpg (680x850, 421K)

Rand’s 6’6 Perrin 6’3 and Mat’s 5’11

Male rape is always funny, especially for feminists. There will be TONS of male rape. Assuming they get that far, haha.

hugh jackman should be loial

It should be animated so you can add EVERYTHING from the books. Jordan barely had an editor, doing the show just like that would be so bonkers it would be a guaranteed hit.

smoothing skirts*

A Castlevania style animation would unironically be kino as fuck.

Lan

Jordan started the series very much as a Tolkien imitator, but he quickly developed his own style(s) which really make WoT a wild ride.

He'd unironically be good Rahvin.

Is it too late to audition? :(

Why does anyone care?
They've already said it's for "being updated for modern times".
Code word for sjw mess basically.
Main character won't even get his harem.

>The fact they've got an A-lister for the lead gives me hope that they're serious with this.
Waste of money.

Who knows. The rumor is that the casting has been ongoing for Nyn and Egwene for a while now, but I doubt they cast every single character at once. There was an email on the casting agency's website for WoT for a while but it was removed.

>Lews Therin, a channeler, got arrogant with his power and tried to steal The Dark One's power. He ended up unleashing the dark one on the planet and went insane before The Dark One was sealed again in an imperfect seal. There was a prophecy that eventually he'd be reborn and was fated to battle with The Dark One one final time.
Lanfear, go back to your hole, no one will ever love you.

>Main character won't even get his harem.
The only info we've had about this is "more interested in polyamory than polygamy" so you might get some girl on girl action in Rand's harem as well.

I have unrealistic expectations for lanfear now

She's supposed to pretty much be the platonic ideal of female beauty. There's no way they can get something that ethereal right, so just hope for a whyboner.jpg

The harem shit was dumb anyways. Hell most of the romance stuff is just god awful. I’d welcome cutting most of it out, many of them are good staying single.

Eva green

They can find someone like that in the high fashion modeling world, only problem is that they'd be completely unable to act a role like hers.

It's a mostly good vs evil series. It's not grimdark complicated like GoT. The only question is which of the bad guys is actually the most evil.

She looks like a fucking ghoul when she smiles.

Pretty much, there's not much political intrigue outside of the what the aes sedai do and there's never much depth to that stuff. The forsaken are interesting at least because of how deluded they are.

>hear about this adaptions rumors for a while
>read the book series
>show still isn't out
>only the first few books were good, the rest were exhausting snooze fests

Remind me why I should care about this? There's no chance it's anything but a chopped up mess.

She's getting up there in age now and feels too much like a fancast. She'd have been perfect a decade ago.

It doesn't need to be a 1:1 of the books, they can cut a lot out to streamline the story. Same shit happened with GoT and it worked for the first 4 seasons.

series would probably benefit from being trimmed a bit, really

Are they gonna shrink her to a hobbit like LOTR?

this is beyond epic i cant fucking wait bros!!!!

Attached: SJW Q&A.jpg (903x663, 232K)

Kinda of

In the same sense that's true for Lotr

>gender is such a key theme
>but let's ignore rand's 3 women

You can sure as shit be sure the women who ruin the world won't be portrayed as such. The WoT books did a good job of displaying the emotional and illogical nature of women, and almost always painted them as bring in the wrong. Get ready for yass queen, stronk womeyn rise up!

:)))))))))

Attached: 1539184350642.jpg (981x902, 198K)

> Rand and his 3 women plot may change
Fuck that. Multiple wives is literally part of the desert cultures the Aiel are based on.

Whats that guys? Masterpiece coming in?

Attached: 1539187408428.png (595x141, 16K)

For me, it's Berelaine

lol

Here is some more epic inside information!

Attached: 1539187471576.png (612x530, 65K)

>tfw matt will be genderbended to being a white girl and tuon will now be a black guy

wot isn’t some red pilled shit you know. The author tried to write feminism and other shit like that into his series but sometimes it’s just out of your capabilities to do so. just like he can’t write believable romance to save his life.

This is the most likely outcome, if it makes it that far.

OH NO NO NO NO NO NO

>adapt a piece of art
>change it completely

>art has things to say about how women rule the world poorly
>now that they do in the real world, they change the art to keep people ignorant to this

Dumb motherfucker doesn't even know the difference between "their" and "there". This shit is doomed.

>The author tried to write feminism
How to spot a pleb. Jordan was based as fuck and thinking the show was "feminist" is getting stuck to the surface level.

It’s Amazon. They don’t fuck around. It’ll be quality.

This is true. He actually wrote modern feminism in very well. The groups of women all devolve into petty squabbling in public, while backstabbing behind the scenes. A realistic portrayal of women (in the books) in power is going to become "men are evil" without any hint of self-awareness.

>The fact they've got an A-lister for the lead gives me hope that they're serious with this.
>they've got an A-lister for the lead
>an A-lister
lmao

You’re very naive if you think it’s external pressure making for “inclusive” castings.

reminder that men DESTROYED the world and that the current aes sedai did NOTHING wrong

What do you mean?

2/3 will be niggers

naturally
so you were saying?

I really do hope they don't change Egwene or Nynaeve, the world needs more qt brunette actresses.

Attached: Jessica Clements.jpg (1080x1080, 156K)

Not him, but I don’t mind that. This is not one of series where I’m like, yeah, don’t change a thing, it’s all perfect in retrospect. Series would crash and burn trying to be a 1:1 adaptation. It’s not like ASOIAF.

Egwene is a massive cunt but having some qtpatootie playing her would at least make her tolerable.

Yeah but it shows their political bent. If they’re not even willing to allow polygamy—it has to be polyamory, shitlord!!—then it’s unlikely the rest of the show will be ideal.

>finally found its lead
>The story follows Moiraine

Oh? On God?

Attached: 105DB3B6-2E67-4D1A-A2DA-9EB0FA84ADEA.jpg (1242x1821, 480K)

eye of the world is meh. best books are 2-4 and 6. 5 is okay.

I dunno, I’m behind it, so I guess I’ll like the other ideas, too then? I think he’s being kind to you, I wouldn’t even give you polyamory.

The first book does follow Moiraine

everyone else is largely irrelevant, it takes several books for everyone to get their shit together

>I think he’s being kind to you, I wouldn’t even give you polyamory.
?? What a strange thing to say. Why not?

later books get sexual slavery (for both genders), literal slavery, Irish muslims, polygamy and high and mighty women getting their just desserts

take that as you will

Based. She's a great actress and the ice queen thing she's got going on is perfect for Moiraine. Shame about thew height but fuck it, pros outweigh the cons.

Attached: miranda frost.jpg (620x827, 64K)

The fuck are you even talking about?

You are both ignoring that tyins little rape game saved Matt's life, it completely took him off the seanchan radar even tuon thought he was just a "toy"

Oh ok, I’ve only skimmed the first book in my youth and thought Rand was clearly the lead. I don’t read genre shit anymore, but I’m looking forward to the show.

I have the strongest, most uncomfortable feeling that this is our Rand.

Attached: archie.jpg (1200x675, 57K)

Rand is the mc but Moiraine is the driving force in the beginning so I can see why they would want to focus on her. Especially if they want to keep the Dragon's identity a secret at first.

This. Good choice but I still have very low hope for this show. Sony are making it.

Moiraine probably stands out the most. Rand runs around scared and has some bad dreams, thinks about egwene then sits in some lodging waiting to be found by moiraine so she can come hold his hand again.

Amazon are making it. Their productions are top notch.

Wrong. Sony Studios are making it *for* Amazon. Their record is not good.

I see. Is Moiraine essentially mommy gf? Or does she show a darker side?

Rand is the lead MC and PoV in the first book but you could argue the story revolved around Moiraine since she drives all the action.

The issue is that the story and characters are geared toward 12 - 18 range.

They’re both making it. The fact that it’s on Amazon’s platform means they’ll have more say. Sony is just involved. Amazon probably doesn’t have quite the studio heft necessary for such an epic saga and enlisted another studio.

>women are placed in slave collars and forced to serve other women, but its never played as being sexual

It's discussed that viewing these women in a sexual manner is like a combination of bestiality and pedophilia.

The guy doing the adaptation is fucked in the head. It's dead on arrival.

>she and Siuan Sanche were pillow friends, its in the prequel book

Lesbianism / bisexuality is just a phase in the WoT world. Prepare for maximum butthurt if they don't change that.

Yup. It was literally written for "Young Adults" before the YA term came to mean this shit it does today. You could imagine the target audience is the CW viewers but you need an Amazon budget to make it. Anyone not familiar with the books and goes in expecting something like GoT will be severally disappointed.

>>all the women have massive tits and pretty much every ritual and disciplinary action is a hidden BDSM kink
Wtf I thought WoT was pretty sexless and PG compared to GRRM

Hot.

Will it be good if I never read the book?

You have less explicit benis in bagina but there's a shitton of casual kinky shit that everyone pretends is just business as usual.

The book readers will tell you once it airs.

It is. The rare sex that does happen only occurs "off screen". Certain themes you could read as BDSM (spanking, slave collars, lots of characters being tied up) but it's all very tame.

When does this very extreme bit of sexiness air?

>They can't do that, then they wouldn't get to black Morgase with Rahvin.
You have it backwards. It would be white Morgase with black Rahvin.

>race is much less defined than in our world

WTF race is extremely well defined in the wheel of time with the Seanchan being the only culture that's multiracial in a modern sense.

>Rosamund Pike
>small tits
C'mon man, unless you want literally every female to be played by fucking Christina Hendricks, this is pretty damn reasonable. The bigger problem is her height, Moiraine is smol

Attached: 1477660625677.webm (1200x816, 2.99M)

No one knows. They have only just started casting.

>unless you want literally every female to be played by fucking Christina Hendricks
Well, I mean, this IS the Wheel of Time we're talking about.

Moiraine has no qualms about spanking grown boys or throwing them to a lake, if that's what you mean.

>were the writers on that show alluding to the "Wheel of Time" series?
if you mean GRRM, then yes. Jordan and GRRM were friends.

That was because the Seanchan continent was multiple nations that had been conquered under one ruler. We only ever saw the army being taken from different races. Who knows if their was any actual integration outside of that.

WoT is almost so diverse race doesn't matter for the most part. Aside from the main characters, Aiel being ginger, and Seafolk being dark I don't think it matters.

I’m in love

WE WILL NEVER SEE THE ASHAMAN MASSACRING THE AIEL

I thought this was about Wheel of Fortune and that Rosamund Pike was replacing Vanna White.

I think she’ll drop out. She has no idea what WoT is. I’m sure they sold it to her as the next GOT. I wouldn’t be surprised if she cringed her way out of it once she realizes how hammy and dweeby and totally unlike GOT it is.

Sorry.

>all the scenes of rand DABBING on women will be removed

They’ve already said they’ll make him polyamorous instead of polygamous lmao

>I told you to make weapons, Taim. Show me just how deadly they are. Disperse the Shaido. Break them.
>"As you command.” If Taim had been stiff before, he was stone now
>“Grady, raise the Banner of Light!” Taim called, and the Power made his voice boom
>“Asha’man, form line of battle!”
>“Asha’man, raise the barricade two spans!” At Taim’s command, the edges of the dome rose all around. Surprised Shaido who had been pushing at what they could not see stumbled forward. They recovered instantly, a black-veiled mass surging forward, but they had time for only a stride before Taim’s next shout
>Asha’man, kill!
>The front rank of the Shaido exploded.

Attached: Asha'man_Kill.png (1685x576, 1.59M)

>antifeminist

i don't think you read the books. they taunt you with rand and his power and the whole fucking time the aes sedai are being cunts that never get put in their place, despite that being what rand would obviously do. it's masochistic shlock and the show will certainly be irredeemable stronk-woman garbage.

what does that mean/ in english please

but they do get put in their place, infact the entire second half of the series starting here is aes sedai cunts being put in their place, everyone gets a go, even Tam

>If Taim had been stiff before, he was stone now
Taim isn't the only one hard as diamonds from that scene.

They're gonna make him raise his wife's son instead of fathering children on all of the women.

that makes no sense, the children of the dragon aern't even in the books (mostly) and they are crazy powerful because of Rand, I think you might be lying to me

It means instead of him having multiple wives, he’ll have multiple wives who have multiple husbands... and maybe even he’ll have husbands himself. That way it’s not onesided. Because equality.

>Nynaeve has been the most difficult character to write
Really? It can't be hard to write an overpowered loli tsundere. All my animus do it

based

Attached: dumais.jpg (1000x645, 134K)

that lines pretty rude when taken out of context now that I'm reading it

>haha just walking around reading my fantasy books posing for characters haha do i look like a nerd XD

>that makes no sense
Welcome to 2019. Where warlike desert people and agrarian farming communities somehow throw off the historic sociological benefits of polygamy and instead have lots of pointless sex without caring about family structures.

still stupid only his kids will be blood of the dragon so everyones gonna know which ones are Rands away

As far as anyone from two rivers and anyone in andor for that matter were concerned if you had sex with someone you married them, the borderlanders were the same

Don't think it matters now there is no law against men who can use power. That and being the most powerful rulers in history

>She's too tall
>5.9

Attached: ml2.webm (720x1276, 1.08M)

wot and lotr will divide the efforts and budget for amazon and both will fail inevitably, only amazon original that's watchable is and will continue to be is fleabag (and kinda maybe bosch s01)

xoxo

That's what I'm saying only Rands actually kids will get power, since they are the ones with The Power

>only Rands actually kids will get power,
They're going to change it so that the true source of power is single motherhood.

all you guys being ''cautiously optimistic'' are dumb, just do a quick search on the showrunner's cv. its all trash

So Beslan is the most powerful character? I can live with that he's a bro

True Power lies in the single mothers you make along the way.

True Power is the DO's power btw

>time to write the most epic fantasy screenplay

My guess is that he loves one girl, but they have close sex friends in the other girls, so it's sort of fair and doesn't come off as cheating. Maybe there's not even any sex involved.

My guess is the show will try to flesh out one pairing and not have this retarded shit about girls falling in love at first sight and that's it, they join a harem, the end. The audience wouldn't buy it, hell you can find many book readers that really don't buy it. Who that girl is that they develop with him may turn out to be a shocker, in my opinion.

Is this better or worse then crayons? i'm not sure

It takes 8+ books for the 3 to reconcile, in fact Min and avi never really do

that's tall for a woman. moraine should be like 5 foot nothing

where was mat during dumai's wells?

guys what should I read to fill the void after reading wheel of time and game of thrones

maybe ebou dar, or he could have still been with elayne and nynaeve in the aes sedai camp

in ebou dar with elyane, birgitte and nye trying to find the bowl of winds, and may I just take this moment to say FUCK the bowl of winds

>you will never have a bro who wants you to fuck his mother

Feist for comfy trash, one of a hundred grimdark edge lord series for anything else

malazan

>mat would you be a pal and go fuck my mother? she's looking a little down today

moraine is supposed to be smol
