Why didn’t Hector order all his archers to just gun him down?
Kill the supposedly immortal Achilles, the Greek army’s morale suffers and might be partial to just going home

why didn't they shoot arrows at him?

what kind of finishing move is that?

they probably thought it would anger the gods and cause an earthquake or something

Because a dishonorable murder would've displeased the gods, and they'd curse Troy, possibly losing them the war.

In the mindset of super religious and superstitious cultures, this line of thinking makes sense

the gods probably would have fucked his shit up my negress

>movie set in the Bronze Age

Was the Iliad the OG capeshit?

Anyone got the pic of this scene with wojak?

It’s not feminine to question strategic decisions
This is under the assumption that the Trojan War was real, and not just Homer’s epic
Good answer

Wonderfully choreographed fight scene. Just the right level of prowess to reflect the fact that Achilles is a demigod and Hector, while being the most skilled fighter for the Trojans, simply can't keep up with him indefinitely. You just know that if it was made today then it would all be speed-up-slow-down shit with five cuts a second and every sword slash would send out blue magic ripples and scar the walls of Troy from fifty feet away.

Instead we get a lot of open shots, clear camera angles for the most part and a modest use of cuts, with plenty of multi step pieces of choreography pulled off by the actors/stuntmen. Also, Achilles isn't shown to be magical in any way, but there's a clear demigod aspect to how he fights; it's full of flourishes, but he backs it up by being immensely strong and agile; he shows exertion but he isn't exhausted like Hector is etc. etc. Just the right amount.

Really great fight scene imo.

You sound like a woman.

sportsmanship

No because The Iliad was transcribed by a poet who wanted to preserve ancient history and promote ideals of virtue and strength while capeshit was invented by a bunch of Heebs who wanted to subvert classical ideals of heroism.

t. stood up and clapped with Zeus appeared

Heroes slaying dozens of nameless fodder. Forced character conflict. Stupid premise.
It is capeshit

>wonderfully choreographed
not really, and in no way would either fighter be that drained after such a short combat, Hector goes from measured and agile strikes and defence to hacking trembling wreck in 20 seconds. He's accustomed to fighting battles all day long in the sun. He also didn't get injured at all but is suddenly weak and exhausted. That spin move with the spear is absurd, it'd be so easily telegraphed and punished.

>fighting battles all day long
Based brainlet

In The Illiad people were constantly trying to hit Hektor and other important characters with spears/arrows, but the Gods kept knocking them off course, (Usually resulting in them hitting some other poor bastard standing behind them).
Teucer's bow was snapped by Apollo (IIRC?) when he was about to shoot Hektor in the face when the Trojans were trying to burn the ships.

During this "Duel", (In the book Hektor ran away like a pussy for like an hour until one of the Gods bamboozled him into thinking he had backup), Achilles specifically tells his fellow Achians not to shoot Hektor so he can have all the glory for killing him himself.

Soldiers routinely took breaks during battle, they would be swapped in with other soldiers. Your are literally a retard if you think the same soldiers fought non stop all day.

>hey it’s user’s mom, sorry he’s sick and can’t come out and play right now :)

AAAAHHHHHHHHH I JUST WANT A FAITHFUL ADAPTATION OF THE ANABASIS DIRECTED BY SNYDER PLEASE

Diomedes being a bullshit self-insert Mary Sue is the better question.
>Onlt three gods? Hold my beer Athena.

this is shit

Plato didn't dislike Homer. He just disagreed with the way the gods were portrayed, but acknowledged that the stories were beautiful neverthless.

Diomedes was the hero of his own lost saga making a cameo

Lol dude moving fast in gear swinging, bobbing, and weaving at each other like that takes up a fuckton of energy even if you are in extremely good shape. Get your fatass out of a chair and see how long until you get winded.
