Film, especially when projected, hides a lot, depending on the lenses, kind of film, and whatever post processing they did. HD made them up their game, as far as post-processing goes. I remember when My Cousin Vinny came out in HD, you could see the tape on Peschi's head, making him look younger. Film hid that, HD revealed it. I'd have to write a blog on why, just understand that "resolution" doesn't really mean anything when talking about physical film.
