In the book, a group of fundamentalist Christians bombed Congress and started a nuclear war that irradiated much of the US's farmland, then remade society the same way Iran did in 1979.

Haven't seen the show but apparently they completely cut out all the parallels to fundamentalist Islam that the book explicitly created.

The setting is intriguing but it suffers from the same thing Stranger Things does in that past season 1 there’s hardly anywhere to go that isn’t a total rehash of the first season.
Also I don’t get Elizabeth Moss’ character. Like I don’t get if she is supposed to be caring or conniving at times based on her acting, and mostly how no one fucking notices her underhanded tactics.
