Hey nigs

Hey nigs,
I'm trying to find new movies to watch but I'm too indecisive and I can't commit to one unless it's really highly acclaimed. What are some of your all-time favorites that you think are a must-watch? Ones that draw you in and captivate you, make you not want them to end or look away for 1 second. Also life-changing movies you can watch countless times with some kind of lesson and that provoke powerful emotions. No action movies

Here's my list of favorites to try and show what type of movies I'm talking about, roughly in order:

Requiem for a Dream
The Shining
2001: A Space Odyssey
A Clockwork Orange
Vanilla Sky
Citizen Kane
Pulp Fiction
Get Out
The Game
Eyes Wide Shut
The Green Mile

Curious to hear about some similar movies/recommendations from you nogs.

I recommend you look up a spiffy little kino called Boku no Pico

shrek

u guys are all niggers. perhaps there are some people with an IQ above 75 that has a suggestion

My personal recommendations:
>Good Will Hunting
>A beautiful mind
>A Straight Story
>The Truman Show
>Dead Poets Circle

Your movie list is literally HS entry level tryhard shit, bro

Seen them all except the straight story. I'll definitely look into it. The other ones are all great, especially Truman Show which probably makes my top 20

that's great, what do you recommend then? (besides the avengers and the fast and the furious, please) ;)

i was going to watch this! seems like exactly the type of movie i'm talking about. for some reason I never really understood the hype of Hitchock's movies though. but I've only seen Psycho and Vertigo. I'll definitely have to watch this

Since you seem sincere, here are 10 movies that you probably won’t be recommended on this board

>Ikiru
>The Killing of a Chinese Bookie
>The Lure
>A Moment of Innocence
>Riki-Oh: The Story of Riki
>The Tenant
>The Conversation
>Charade
>Onibaba
>Ashes and Diamonds

Fight club

American History X

Get out sucked. It was like a cable tv “after school special” movie with a clear message that whites suck and blacks are victims.

Thanks bro. Never heard of any of these before, but I'll look them up!
Great movie, but I didn't have the urge to watch it again.
Definitely one of my favorites too, really powerful movie. Absolutely my kind of movie, thanks for the suggestion
I just felt like I couldn't stop watching, never seen anything quite like it before. The music and directing made it so intense and I can watch it over and over. Acting was also phenomenal. I agree it does have a bit of an obvious message and Peele is trying too hard to push this concept. It does have a lot of interesting social and political depth to it though which is one of the reasons it's in my all-time favorites

I had a lost that I've been going through the last 5 months, i wish i didn't cross the ones i watched out
I recently watched marathon runner and one flew over the cuckoo nest

>eyass ta eyass
>ah ah ah
>EYASS TA EYASS

There isn’t any depth. Black people were slaves. In this move they’re slaves.

It’s the shallow end of the pool.

Heat

There Will Be Blood

Paris, Texas

Her

Under the Skin

Lost Highway

Memento

Drive

The Shawshank Redemption

can't find a movie called marathon runner, is it marathon man? and I saw cuckoo's nest, definitely a good movie. I like this kind of emotional connection among characters. I just felt like it was too slow to watch again, and not really engaging
wat
For me, it's a message about how they're still slaves. One of my scenes is when the rich white men get to the auction and ask Chris if blacks are more advantaged/disadvantaged in today's society. Also the guy saying the pendulum has swung, and now black is in fashion. The message is that whites still have a powerful hold on them (making them powerless shown through the hypnosis). It's interesting when you think about all of the expectations of black people - they should be cool, athletic, etc. They're raised to hear this stuff and they think that's how they should act. Think about how most athletes in American sports are black. They're paid by rich white men who make money off of their talent and only care about profiting off of them. It's different than slavery, but it's a comment on how racism is still alive, just in a different form

Another good suggestion, I love Pacino and De Niro. Some of my other favorites are Goodfellas and Casino. I'm definitely gonna have to watch this one because I've heard good things.
Only one I've seen is Her - really fascinating movie, loved it! I'm gonna look into the other ones, thanks bro.
Definitely one of my all-time favorites. Probably should've included it in my list. Perfect type of movie for me

ESS

The Graduate is fucking incredible, if you haven't seen it. Same as I would recommend SLC Punk

huh
Actually haven't heard of it! It looks really interesting though, gonna add it to my list.
I don't know if SLC Punk is the type of movie I would like though, what makes you recommend that one?

SLC isn't a perfect movie or anything. When I first saw it, I thought it was okay, but now it's one of my favorites. It's one of those movies that you start thinking about it after (or even watch it a second time later) and then something clicks. It's a coming of age story that feels very raw. It's themes surrounds how you think about your life and all the contradictions that start to grow with a naive view of the world

Awesome. It definitely doesn't look like the type of movie I would ever watch, but that's part of the reason I wanna hear some new suggestions. I love coming of age films and raw emotions. The themes you mention are really interesting to me too. I'll check it out, thanks bro

Yeah no worries. I hope you like it. The sequel that got made a few years ago sucks ass though, so stay away from that.

haha alright bro. yeah sequels generally suck anyways

You haven't seen Drive Memento or There will be Blood? Go watch those and come back later

How about
>Babel
>City of God

Just off the top of my head, have these.
>Inside Man
>No Country for Old Men
>Tokyo Story
>Punch Drunk Love

I'll be sure to watch them. Drive/Memento look a bit too actiony, but i've read good things about Memento.
interesting, haven't heard of them. I'll look them up they seem like a good fit!
Inside Man is one of my favorites too, just completely captivating all the way through. I'll look into the other 3, thanks bro

Drive is not very actiony desu, it's got a couple of violent scenes but not actiony

good to know, ill give it a shot

You're obviously a fucking pleb if you watch movies because of their "acclaim" Patrick Bateman-tier pseudery desu.

black swan same director as req

its different than that. i can only commit to a movie if i know that it's considered great. otherwise i keep thinking that im wasting my time and i go in with a bad mindset. usually i just look up movies for hours and never actually watch any at all because of this

I watched requiem when I was 12 and found that shit scarier than any horror id ever seen

i tried black swan because it's the same director, but i couldn't get into it at all. just felt like it was so focused on ballet and i couldnt find a meaning in it. so i gave up after like 20 mins thinking that i wouldnt be able to enjoy it. i also watched Pi and while i liked it i thought it was a little scattered

i just watched it for the first time 6 months ago and ive seen it 5-10 times since then. it is the most powerful movie ive ever seen and definitely more scary than any horror, just in a different way

Maybe because all of us could end up doing ess to ess for dirty old men.
