One of my professors grew up and did his PhD in the USSR. One of the things he credited the Soviet Union with (he was mostly a staunch critic) was sex parity in the sciences. That is, there were more or less the same number of men as women working as physicists. So having a bunch of different scientists, both male and female, represented on-screen by one actress isn't historically inaccurate.
