1080P and 4K really ruin some movies. Especially with stunt doubles.

it's like they didn't even try

BP is objectively better technologically looking than Titanic, but the Titanic clip is far more forgivable as it's application makes way more sense.

Titanic is better, BP messed up shadows. Rhino's shadow is short, meaning the light is up above it, then there is some scrap of metal with very long shadow, so it's like light went down a lot. Titanic, despite poorly made humans, still keeps consistent shadows. Check small ladder on the left.

Agent 47 looks old

What the fuck is Disney's problem?

kino

200lb guy has enough inertia and weight to offset the balance of like a 1000lb rhino?

Yes, better cgi would made this bad cgi look better

CGI is bad but the idea of a half scorpion half man monster was really stupid and silly

How the hell would that stop the ship from sinking? It would've already taken on too much water when it was split and it wouldn't magically stick together when brought back.

Are his claws electrified?

Every fuck'r thinks they are an art'st cause they go into finished movies and lower the visual data quality as much as they can.
They even have the balls to claim they are editors.

Attached: cua0a9t1zrdwifrg12p3.jpg (672x403, 26K)

They're greedy af.

no, just really really sharp

What was the purpose of this? We already know she did her own "stunts" on that movie and was constantly in the water. She couldn't run down a hallway for one shot?

carnage

The composition and lighting of the things in frame are actually pretty good; the problem here is Hack Snyder and his fucking eyesore interpretation of how to represent these DBZ - style fights where a heavy blow sends the combatants flying a hundred feet.
Man of Steel has the exact same fucking problem.

All movies are played in big movie theaters and in 2005 most projectors were still film.
No excuses.

Attached: 1551755928048.jpg (700x467, 67K)

Why can't they do weight in any of these movies? Everybody is always weightless, it would be so much more convincing if they just added some mass to this stuff

Thor and Loki weigh 3 times more than they “look” also he’s a class 100+.

I'M NOT GONNA SAY IT, BUT I'M THINKING IT

>bad cgi
>posts absolute kino

Attached: ke747.gif (640x360, 1.19M)

You guys got to remember, it was a different time.

Is this Killer Croc?

I fail to see the problem here, what am I supposed to notice ?

not forgetting the rhino already swiped him and he bounced off but then swung on the horn and halted the rhino in its tracts

It may be the fact that all that water spraying down the hallway makes it more dangerous than just lingering in cold water while a heated towel waits for you on the shore - there's a point where their insurer steps in and says "no, we won't cover that" so they have to use doubles.

>Post bad CGI

Two Words: Babylon 5

To be fair though, the show was on a miniscule budget and for the cost of an Amiga 2000, genlock and a lot of CPU time, it came out pretty good considering.

>that "choir"
much worse than the CGI

Well that's strange. When it first came out I thought it looked like ass because it was trying to do blood effects, but now blood effects have come so fucking far that to me it no longer looks anything like other realistic blood effects and instead looks like it's taken straight form a stylised comic or cartoon, which suddenly makes it way better because it's a comic book movie. It's way better than the CGI fight where Blade's bouncing around, at least.

legitimately looks like a video game
I'm not even one of those "hurr looks like a vidya" faggots, that genuinely looks like fallout 4 or something

Manchild retards will still pay for it, so why bother? Reminder that Black Panther was nominated for best CGI.

This is fucking kino, go fuckyourself tard

Exaggeration of course. Most Marvel movies have pretty damn good CGI, Black Panther looked pretty shitty though.

Attached: shit to live for.webm (1920x800, 2.98M)

My thoughts exactly, Blade.

This webm is based as fuck

That's a REALLY dangerous shot. As in not only would it risk either of them slipping and just banging their face, thus costing the production potentially millions in extra shooting costs while their broken nose is fixed, but would actually risk them DYING. All it would take is them falling behind and losing their footing when all that water comes rushing in, banging their head on those killer metal handrails, either braining them there and then or causing them to inhale a lungful of water and drown. It'd be especially dangerous to run on that dress and giant overcoat, I imagine, potentially tripping you or snagging anywhere.

Only Tom Cruise gets away with shooting such potentially lethal scenes by himself.

they are pretty bad, the most annoying are backgrounds, they look so off

that webm is cropped real close to the people, the actual shot is pulled way back so you arent focusing just on the people

The CGI there is terrible.

Honestly if the fantastic 4 leans more toward a comedy then maybe it could work. theres creative stuff you could do with it.

Missiles run out of fuel pretty quickly, so they glide to their target for the most part, but are moving at mach 3 usually. Makes them darn hard to see too visually.

fun fact
you're completely wrong about your retarded fun fact. See here:
>the pre-rendered version was posted here some days ago
you don't even understand the words you're using, that sentence makes no sense. "Pre-rendered?" What would that even mean in a film context? You mean pre-vis. Pre-vis can be used for planning scenes that have no CGI in them whatsoever. It doesn't mean they're fully CGI, but it is typically used for scenes with some degree of CGI, yes.

Don't think you're so smart as to make assumptions and then state them as fact, it's really dumb.

>Property Brothers makeover proposals.
Uh what? What is so particular about that show?

Attached: 1483402496965.webm (1920x816, 2.34M)

It isn't. It's actually made massive strides in the last few years. The best CG looks pretty much like real life at this stage. What is happening is every blockbuster uses massive amounts of it and there are only so many effects houses and so much time, so a lot of CG is rushed or multiple companies of different skill levels work on the same movie. One company might be working on 10 films a year. They only have so many animators and hours of work.
If you took Black Panther and gave it an extra entire year of the final cut of the film with the effects teams doing nothing else, all the CG would be flawless. That crummy final fight that everyone points out is bad? That was a reshoot, and was shot in October, the effects house got it in December and the film came out in February. That's why it looks rushed and sloppy, because it was.
Some shit CG is from lower budget, or more often poor direction that doesn't use it right, but generally all of it would look fine if it had the time and resources, but they don't.

Literally some shaky camera and moving him around in the green screen would have made this look more than fine

just get more computers 4head

On that note, the Hobbit films look shit often for instance, because of overuse and overreliance with too little time. Notice how much worse the second and especially third film looks, because they were shot and expanded hastily to accommodate the sudden change to three films instead of four.

>Be super advanced civilisation
>society is organised into a couple of tribes and sends rhinos into battle

>>Property Brothers makeover proposals.
>Uh what? What is so particular about that show?
They did CGI room makeover proposals, which were cheap desktop computer animations. Sadly, they looked better than many of these movie clips.

it didn't.

what did stop the ship from sinking was iron man showing up with like 40 of his robots pushing on the ship from each side, welding it back together, and carrying it to safety

>watch the stairs clipping
You'll have to elaborate for me, user. I see nothing that could be construed as clipping there. Looks like there might be some barely noticeable wonkiness in the tracking of the background plate to the foreground plate (the foreground ending at the stairs) That's a compositing issue, nothing to do with CGI objects intersecting.

Discussions of CGI have far too many retards throwing around words they'll hope make them sound smarter than they are. Half the time it's not even CGI being discussed. If you want a catch-all term, go with VFX you idiots.

I don't see it getting any less rushed and CG houses are practically sweatshops.

RULES OF NATURE

they should have been naked

Is that the same wheelchair-bound black guy from The Shield? I haven't watched SoA

when you haven't seen the film you should stop asking dumb questions like this

Because he wouldn't open his damn eyes

Maybe the standards weren't so high yet because that's just where the technology was at, but I don't remember thinking there was anything wrong with this when I saw it as a kid.

It's not in the movie, it's the last mission of GoldenEye 007

By the time they got to Blade 3 Wesley was such a constantly stoned asshole that the director told him he was totally willing to finish the film without him and just use his double.

How the fuck that got an Oscar nom for VFX over Aquaman I will never understand. But considering how dependent Aquaman was on CGI, what was there was pretty good.

That's bad but it's the best kind of bad

i agree that the franchise now is different than what it originated from, but that doesn't mean that they suck. how many original movies can you make in one franchise? they shifted gears (lol) and revved it up (lmao).

the newer movies are just what they are supposed to be. summer fun movies, and that's it. nothing wrong with over the top fun, kid.

lot better than SMASH CRASH **WHOOOMMMPP** KREEEEENNNNNGG SMASH SMASH CRASH fucking Transformers shit. learn to enjoy life user, you'll get litty

Attached: get litty.png (268x318, 217K)

Oh no, it's only going to get worse as films require more and more CG per year and the effects houses get more and more strained, and the increase in use of reshoots without changing the release date is even worse. The best CG out there will still get better and better but the majority won't be as good as it should be. They have to pick and choose which parts get the most attention. It's how Avengers has Thanos as phenomenal work, and also CW level greenscreen for Bruce Banner in that one shot, in the same film.

come on, Wesley, grow up

Honestly the CGI is good, you can't tell me the visual effects studio did a bad job. There's just so much of it that your brain doesn't even attempt to perceive it as real.

>mann just adds depp's face using computers
was it autism?

an example of that?

this one is offensively bad

It didn't?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academy_Award_for_Best_Visual_Effects#2010s

Black Panther wasn't nominated for Best Visual Effects at all.

you're way ahead of me in the cgi terminology department, user. but I suppose in this case, the stairs and the floor seem fucked up. is that better?

vin is only 5'5 or something
dwayne is 6'4

but vin Always wants to apear like he's huge in his movies.
he even stands on his toes during some photo's of the cast at the red carpet

Guess it was just because I was a kid then. Probably just didn't care since I liked the movie anyway.

Do you have his random somersault?

Dwayne Johnson is supposedly about 6 feet tall according to people who have met him. Every celebrity lies about their height, even the short ones.

this, people really underestimate how much force that much rushing water has

Starship Troopers had a lot of practical effects, though

>True detective dream sequence

Viggo nearly got drowned doing that floating in the river shot, and that was just a straight river not crazy rapids

and high quality CG for the timee that holds up well

>this
>bad CGI
Neck yourselves, stupid zoomers.

people might shit on phantom menace. but attack of the clones is 100 times worse.
the cgi was terrible and it was noticable even then.

Attached: mirror.gif (400x270, 1013K)

Yeah, if it wasn't shit, it wouldn't be shit.

James Cameron almost drowned Ed Harris in the shooting of The Abyss too.

>this actually aired

oh fuck off those shows embrace their corniness.

Literally nothing wrong with this, you guys are blinded by your prejudices

This is a thread about CGI, so you can assume user is talking about the CGI in Starship Troopers, which was really good for its time.

Even if I like Marvel movies, at times is very hard not to be cynic, seeing things, scenes that feel made for some kind of function instead of the art, the photography, the aesthetic, the plot, it feels like something that was not even watched by the director or whoever handled photography, just "give me a scene where X happens and I don't care how it looks", in the age of 4K-8K, people will notice these things.

should have used a miniature.

compare to knowing that Charles Barkley is listed as 6'6"

Why are (You) sitting like this? Yes, I'm talking to (You).

looks well ahead of its time

that's not CG, it's a fade transition

same with arnold. he Always claimed to be 185cm. but other people said he is actualy more around 180cm.

Even my tech-illiterate boomer parents laughed out loud at how awful this was. It came out in fucking 2009 too so it really wasn't THAT long ago.

There's only one course of action

On a scale of 1 to 10, how lazy of a cunt is JLaw, and why is she an 11?

this

99% of these are "it's not perfect so it's bad"

Typical entitled mindset of today's consumer.

that's not CGI that's just forced perspective

I actually find this kind of poignant

The UHD Bluray is just gorgeous. It holds up very well

Ah! I was watching this on television and I didn't notice how shitty this looked.

Maybe your mind does that because you've already watched an hour already and it just doesn't notice those things.

oh no
