Good casting, good tone, good pacing, all. it was funny and unpredictable. I like that all the characters had their own segments and narration without getting bogged down by typical character to character drama.

Michael Bay is actually extremely talented. You can hate him all you want for spending so much of his career directing three hour commercials for toy robots but he brought more visual flair to these toy robot movies than anyone has done to Star Wars since the 80s.

Dark of the Moon borders on good. Between the Megatron design, joyfully evil Decepticons and minimal human interaction it's clear someone involved in the production had a lot of love for the property.

The entire third act after the Autobots fake their death and start regulating is the closest thing to a live action version of the toon as we're ever likely to get.

I remember when it was still being shot everyone was pissed because it was supposedly making light of a horrible crime. Then the pic of the Rock cooking a severed hand on the grill leaked and it was obvious it was going to be a dark comedy.
