if it gets back to the charm of season 1. i enjoyed the second season although it felt entirely derivative (i know the entire show is a love letter but still). but i suspect itll just be more of the same but this time located in a shopping mall. better writing, more creative ideas and better character motivations (rather than pitting together characters in random situations like jonothan and nancy last season for the sake of them being lead characters) are needed to keep me watching past season 3.

Well, maybe I spoke too soon. Millie actually plays her role really well and with a lot of good, subtle physical acting. I think her performance is probably underrated. Finn's best scene that always comes to mind is during season 2 when he rages at Hopper after he finds out Hopper was hiding Eleven.

I mean all the main characters can pretty much be boiled down to one emotion. Lucas spent most of the show as angry for no real reason, Will is sad 90% of the time, and Dustin probably has the least characterisation even compared to the others. Unless you count being retarded.

This show peaked at Season 1 Episode 7 and went suddenly downhill from there, to the point that I may not watch Season 3 at all. The first episode of Season 2 was so purposely saturated in 80s culture and so fan service-y that it felt like a fucking parody of itself. At its best, though, the show was really comfy and feel-good entertainment.

Honestly my biggest problem with it was Billy and Max or whatever the fuck her name was. The quite literally pop into Hawkins out of nowhere, and then meander around, one of them being a generic chad bully and the other encroaching on the kids group and dynamic that worked fine in season one.
I liked all the stuff they did with Steve, most of the Eleven stuff (besides the episode that shall not be named) was alright, especially with the sheriff the father/daughter dynamic. It was just laughable how poorly the new characters were added to the story, and to what end really? You could remove Billy and basically have the same exact season 2. You could remove Max too.
