I'm going to keep watching it faggots. It just the pauses are too fucking long so I just fast forward it.

t. Hipster homosexuals

Staring into space for 30 seconds between every line of dialogue doesn't make a film deep. Jim Jarmusch and David Lynch laugh their asses off when people like you gobble up their visual excrement.

Attached: 1529963955609.gif (400x300, 1.54M)

You call us Hipsters, but we all know you wish you could be one of us. You wish you could understand Godard, appreciate the art of a Khavn De La Cruz film, sit through Satantango able to see it's true beauty.
You can't expect me to believe that having a top 10 that inclues Pulp Fiction, 2001, Seven Samurai, Dark Knight, Blade runner 2049, Boondock Saints and Blade Runner 2049is as far you want to as a movie lover. And that is because you know what you look like. A manchild, filled with acne and dirty thoughts about 37 year old actors. Who loves super heroes and never reads books because they are "boring" and "pretentious".

The whole "hipster" thing is a self-defense. You face someone who is a gentleman, a scholar, an erudite and your little brain can't thing of nothing else to make you feel better. Because you're a pleb. You're an american pleb.

Pic related is the Pinnacle of art and human achievement. Don't agree? Guess you've been pleb filtered.

That's some extremely homosexual pasta.

When will people here realize that Refn is a hack?
How many failures does Refn have to create for people to understand this?

>dude long silences
>dude lack of coherent plot
>dude purple and pink neon lights

Refn made a few good movies, thats it. Only God Forgives made me realize what a fucking joke hew as

No, refn literally thinks shooting slow pans with people talking like they have brain injuries is filmmaking .

the show ends on episode 8. stop watching after that.

will continue with the last two episodes in a few days, wich is a pointless exercize since its pretty obvious by how much amazon is hiding the show that there wont be a second season.

> its misery porn.
> its snuff directed as a perfume comercial.

refn career after drive bets a whole lot at the aesthetics, violence and sexual perversions, wich is fine for a 1h45 movie, but impossible to hold a show together.

Attached: 1554907814864.jpg (1536x2304, 715K)

>Limited series
>When is the second season coming out?
You're retarded. You are so fucking retarded. I bet you're also waiting for the season 2 announcement of Chernobyl.

i liked the show a lot but i agree

David Lynch is a hack and his films are poorly made and boring

Why are you watching this? Refn is a hack who isn't even that talented at visuals and you can tell just from the shitty graphic design of the poster (tired pastel colour scheme, amateurish typesetting, cliche symbolism) that it's bad.

I bet you also think Dario Argento sucks at visuals and set design.

Artie?

>cliche symbolisn
WHY AREN'T PEOPLE CREATING NEW SYMBOLS WHERE I HAVE TO GUESS THE MEANING OF THE SYMBOL BECAUSE IT IS NOT INHERENTLY OBVIOUS? WHY ARE HACKS USING THE SAME SYMBOLS FOR THE SAME THINGS? WHY ARE HACKS USING SKULLS TO SYMBOLIZE DEATH? WHY AREN'T THEY USING A NEW SYMBOL LIKE A YELLOWED TOENAIL TO SYMBOLIZE DEATH?

ITT: filtered plebs
I bet you were even filtered by Only God Forgives

Well, why aren't they? You'd at least have something to think about. Films create their own symbolism all the time. In The Godfather for instance, oranges symbolise death. In We Need to Talk About Kevin, tomato soup and pulped tomatoes represent violence and chaos.

You don’t remember me
And I’ve forgotten you
But it’s not so long ago
That we fist-fucked, too

Strangers in the night
Sees the world in black and white
Lost souls, and a burning blood
Forgotten sons, and a brotherhood
Twisted values, and a wrecked mind
Greased warriors, of a rejected kind

Let’s fist again
Let’s fist again
Let’s fist again

Some like to, do it
With a glove
But, you know me
I’m no dove

I like to do it, the natural way
I like to do it, the natural way

It was your mistake
When you thought I hesitate
I shoved my greased fist
I shoved my greased fist
I shoved my greased fist
Right up to your prostrate

Shit on my knuckles
Pain up the ass for you
Shit on my knuckles
Pain up the ass for you

Fist and shout
Fist and shout
Fist and shout
Fist and shout

Fist-Fuckers
Fist-Fuckers
Fist-Fuckers…Associated (Repeat X 9)

Fist-Fuckers
Fist-Fuckers

Yes but they are given context. It's impossible to give context in a poster for a new symbol. The criticism that the poster uses cliche symbolism is retarded. A symbol that can be universally recognized has to be cliché. Assuming you are the original poster your criticism falls flat. Kindly never post again.

>Hipster

le sigh

“Hipster” is a term co-opted for use as a meaningless pejorative in order to vaguely call someone else’s authenticity into question and, by extension, claim authenticity for yourself.

It serves no conversational function and imparts no information, save for indicating the opinions and preferences of the speaker.

Meanwhile, a market myth has sprung up around the term, as well as a cultural bogeyman consisting of elusive white 20-somethings who wear certain clothes (but no one will agree on what), listen to certain music (no one can agree on this either), and act a certain way (you’ve probably sensed the pattern on your own).

You can’t define what “that kind of behavior or fashion or lifestyle” actually is, nor will you ever be able to. That’s because you don’t use “hipster” to describe an actual group of people, but to describe a fictional stereotype that is an outlet for literally anything that annoys you.

The twist, of course, is that if it weren’t for your own insecurities, nothing that a “hipster” could do or wear would ever affect you emotionally. But you are insecure about your own authenticity - “Do I wear what I wear because I want to? Do I listen to my music because I truly like it? I’m certainly not like those filthy hipsters!” - so you project those feelings.

Suffice it to say, no one self-identifies as a hipster; the term is always applied to an Other, to separate the authentic Us from the inauthentic, “ironic” Them.

I'm gonna give a drive-by post just to say it's incredible.
I'm only 2 episodes in, but it's not hyperbole to say this redefines television. The second episode is considerably better than the first too, imo.
Consider the "golden age of television" circa 2010 roughly. Critics and audiences were super impressed because television finally seemed to care about shot composition, lighting, impressive set-pieces etc etc. Sure, there were shows like Sopranos, The Wire and the rest that were considered great. But they were far from the rule or the norm. We started getting a lot of shows that drew in audiences in the same way films did with the same sort of spectacle.
(I'm talking about Dexter, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Masters of Sex, Boardwalk Empire etc)
But the thing is, all those shows were still very much television shows. They still followed the same formula of dialogue dialogue dialogue, action, dialogue dialogue. They just told more interesting stories with bigger budgets.

Too Old To Die Young is impressive because it goes so much further. It's not unusual to have a ten second static shot of a guy leaning against a wall with flashing lights and almost no sound. The sort of thing you normally only see in indie arthouse films, you're consistently seeing in this show.
I can't quite call it a 13-hour film as Refn does because it still divides too neatly into episodes. That is, each episode has a clear beginning, middle and end. But it's definitely not anything I've ever seen done in television before.

retard alert

Stop forcing your shitty pasta.

bas
ed

>lack of coherent plot

U wot nigga?

The context for the symbol would appear in the actual show. The symbol would just be there to pique interest. Symbols don't need to be easily deciphered in the first place though. It's preferable for things to be open to interpretation and spark discussion. If certain things go over most of the audience's heads that's fine too. Better that something dumb and obvious. Take the ending of 2001 for example.

Your condescending, pretentious air is unnecessary too because it does nothing to hide the fact you don't know what you're talking about.

>Take the ending of 2001 for example.
There's nothing indecipherable about the ending of 2001. It's a straightforward adaptation of the novel which explains what happens.

>*spits*

Attached: based martin.png (970x546, 304K)

>need a manual decipher it
>it's straightforward
yikes

I can’t believe you guys don’t understand and appreciate Refn. I could go on for hours about all his films. He’s a one of a kind of genius that I fear won’t be appreciated in his lifetime

You've never seen any other refn film?

The car chase is pretty much the most kino thing ever
youtube.com/watch?v=TuRevNN9oms

Too short but still great. I was pumped as shit

consider myself a fan. or was a fan.

pusher trilogy and the movies in between, smaller, are fantastic. valhalla rising is cool, bronson is incredible.

them comes the drive era. drive is a solid movie, very close to the book in wich was inspired, wich offer him guidance. wonderful movie, born to be cult.

after that the neon eletronic 80s aesthetics become a bigger theme. with them comes the brutal violence and sex at its worst.

i appreciate only god forgives and neon demon, but i hated the how.

not completly. episode 5 is magnificent, there are scenes, nuggets of gold here and there, but you gotta dig trough so much blood and gore and incest and pedophilia and human trafficking and drugs and more incest and rape... i was tired after episode eight.

took a shower, will come back to finish the job and keep my expectations around the director on a fence.

he used to be a guy capable of doing something more meaningful character wise but he lost this and if ity is for good, i wont be able to follow the guy niihilism.

Attached: 1554900263393.jpg (2400x1800, 788K)

>them comes the drive era. drive is a solid movie, very close to the book in wich was inspired,
Don't act like a true fan when you couldn't be so far from correct. Sallis' book DRIVE is barely anything like the movie DRIVE. In fact the driver is only one of four main characters with weaving plotlines all abandoned in the film. Also, he ends up in Mexico so what in the fuck are you talking about. You didn't read shit faux intellectual faggot. Also your reddit spacing is annoying as fuck.

!!

>so much blood and gore and incest and pedophilia and human trafficking and drugs and more incest and rape
you make it sound so much more interesting than it is

'limited series' and putting all the episodes at once was a nice way of discard the bad product, dipshit.

do you think if the show was a huge success and get a bunch of fans and awards to put prime on the map of 'good television' there would not be a season two?

> when people who watched until the end comment about how it ends with an open finale?

> when refn said that he did it until the money was over?

> when more famous directors, like david fincher do stuff like minhunter, season 2?

what a retard you are. simply pathetic.

I read the book before it was a movie, then again after it was a movie. You read a website that you got to from googling "DRIVE BOOK AND MOVIE COMPARISON" And three of those websites are wrong and all fed off of eachother.

:o

Absolutely blown the fuck out

Attached: Gohan el blanco.jpg (480x360, 23K)

i read the book, bought on walmart, on a bind for cheap.

good, straigh foward reading.

it isnt a canine fidelity adaptation but it preserves a lot of elements, i believe that it was good for a guy like refn having something to use as a reference - as scenes like the one in mexico aside didnt matter.

wanna see a completly fucked up adaptation check it out You Were Never Really Here, the novel.

changed at the point of being a whole new movie.

>reddit spacing this hard after getting EXPOSED

>tfw sat through satantago without pausing
no one should do this, it's absolute shit beyond the pretty pictures
yeah that's trash, not comparable to a single frame of TOtDY though

Attached: wp.png (1598x864, 598K)

I agree, the show is very good up to episode 8, just watched the last two and it sent the show from an 9/10 to a 5/10. The last episode is pure trash with Refn thinking he is 2deep4u

>as scenes like the one in mexico aside didnt matter.

Bro I totally made that part up. There is no Mexico scene. It's Venezuela he escapes to at the end. LMFAO, you've got my cum dripping down your chin right now. You legit have not read the book just admit boy.

8 movies in and I do not care about a single character? How does he do it?

it has pretty solid multidimensional characterization i think. are you paying attention?

I should not be able to perfectly describe what every character is about with two words after 5 billion minutes of screen time

try it, two words per character. you'll be leaving stuff out

>you've got my cum dripping down your chin right now. You legit have not read the book just admit boy.

fucking btfo

he find a guy on a trailer park in las vegas or something, i read it in 2012, didnt have the need to read it, watch the movie and read it again.

Psychopath
Oedipus complex
Abused psychopath
Depressed and Rich
Nothing to lose the character
Benevolent psychopath
Inferiority complex

Who is there?

So I’m assuming people are trolling this shitshow similarly to how season 2 of True detective was here as well. Which is fine cause in about a week it’ll die down and people will start actually discussing how garbage it is vs people just trolling for (You)’s and tryin to waste newfags time
Regardless 4/10 for me and I actually loved neon demon and only god forgives but refn should stick to films

And not a single character had any real obstacle to overcome

Wasn’t Drive a quasi-remake of The Driver from 1978?

you're being very dishonest. even within those summaries there is a lot of nuance if you were to actually try to explain them. let's just look at martin. i guess he's the psychopath? he's just a normal crooked cop until his partner dies. then he potentially lies about how his partner killed magdelana, we will never know. then he gets sucked into killing debtors for damien. at first he doesn't care who he kills, but then he does because he meets a "virtuous killer" and it forces him to reevaluate, because he has some glimmer of a conscience, and ends up saving a man's life for it. he's afforded further depth when jena malone asks him if he'd truly turn down an underage girl. the story he gives the pornographers is half true, he's actually confiding in these men he's about to kill. he's "conflicted" which is an easy word to sum him up if you don't care to elucidate the depth. he tells viggo that he feels like 2 different people shortly before his actions cause his girlfriend to get killed, and himself to get tortured for 3 days before being murdered. !

who is depressed and rich? janey's dad???? who is nothing to lose? who is inferiority complex?
no

nah it was a remake of baby driver

Attached: anon calls guy nigger.png (1099x274, 117K)

mile 22 might be more your speed OP

why did you have to remind me this exists? i saw that shit in the theater

I think the main problem with the story is that the Mexicans are able to do anything with no consequences. They can just slaughter Mexican cops and nothing comes of it? Damian knew the Mexicans were behind the botched driveby, and he can't retaliate? How are they able to raid Damians safehouse without a major gunfight? And kill Janey and take Martin in broad daylight, at the beach? And Yaritza can kill without consequences, despite being witnessed by multiple prostitutes? I thought this might turn around when Jesus was torturing Martin, it seems like the ideal time to show the Mexicans have some weakness. Refn just goes too far to make a point about ceaseless murder.

Hah! Look at this pleb!

This monologue was unironically the worst thing I've ever seen in a television show

The show actually has a lot of similarities with True Detective Season 2

>refn career after drive bets a whole lot at the aesthetics, violence and sexual perversions, wich is fine for a 1h45 movie, but impossible to hold a show together.

Is this real? lmao

100% real

yeah. coming from a show that displays perversity, incest, molestation, and euphoric torture. in the show, none of this comes from nazis though. we do see a brief nazi flag, but this is simply a red herring, as is the on-the-nose retard stuff like FASCISM and FAKE NEWS. totdy is secretly very redpilled

Stop sucking this Dane faggot's dick already you niggers. Just because the guy made 2 good movies doesn't mean everything he touches turns to gold.

This show is fucking terrible. Neon Demons was shit, Only God was shit, Valhalla was shit. Drive and the first Pusher movie are the only good stuff he ever made and they were like 10 fucking years ago.

I will shitpost in every Refn thread from now to eternity. Suck my dick.

Well that worked to a tee on you xD

oh my god you're right... i was wrong...
let me try to damage control here. even still they're walking away from the action, and they're far away enough that they couldn't see any defining characteristics of the assailants. they were probably so far away that they thought the gunshots were fireworks. whew, damage control done. i hope no one calls me out...

Drive is near perfect, if not perfect

TOTDY drinking game: take a shot every time Martin spits.

The complete opposite of how season 2 was treated here. Yea Forums hated and mocked it then throughout the years threads of how under rated was were sprinkled throughout the board.

No. Both this and TD 2 are kino

Drive was shit, everything from the script right through to the score....commercial garbage for the masses. That's why it made it to Cannes.

>The score
Nigga, it had brilliant music and brilliant action sequences

If you like fake 80's shitpop, that movie on a whole was a failure.

yeah please review drive and tell us why it's garbage, i'm really curious. how about both of you fags review it??? good and bad, let's weigh it

I think it's awesome and when the driver walks into the club with the hammer is peak cool

Well for starters you don't have to do any thinking with Drive, it was such spoon fed shit it became boring after 15 minutes.

This
Even Refn has been trying his best to get away from the plebs that love it. Martin is what all the plebs that love Drive think they are

gay
contrasted with what though? what movie actually makes you think? please name one for the philistines here

personally i liked the stabilized camera when the driver is just cruising in here. the world is going super fast outside all rugged and crazy, but the camera doesn't budge an inch, reflecting how the driver feels behind the wheel. that's good visual storytelling

It sounds better 2.00X

So I take it if there was a season 2, which is unlikely of course, that it would be an anthology series

The 80's were & still are in fashion so it was easy for it to be loved by the masses. Fortunately though people like Refn don't like to make the same movie over & over again.

No there's no need to think, you just explained it yourself in a very short sentence or two.

No that's only the case when Richard D. James scores something xD

No it'll be the end of the world

i could explain infinity in a short sentence or two, but it doesn't make it any less deep. forget it, i just want you to suggest a movie that actually REALLY makes you think

>suggest a movie that actually REALLY makes you think

whats the purpose of this scene

i really like mulholland drive but no. at least explain how

Im four episodes in and it has the same characters but they're all doing different things each episode and not even referring to stuff from previous episodes. Does the show ever come together in some semicoherent way or is it just supposed to be bleak nihilistic synthwave vingettes the whole time?

Why do they need to recap what they previously done?

Hollywood reprobates projecting their fears of being dragged out into the streets

You can't fill up 15 (FIFTEEN) hours of of episodes without a shiton of filler. It's like the didn't edit out anything at all. You can probably distill the entire season into two hours of watchable stuff
I haven't watched a single episode this is all pure speculation based on reactions, trailer, and watching every previous Rfen film

Attached: 1e3.jpg (200x200, 9K)

woah user i'm so sorry, it all adds up to nothing! those 6 hours you wasted watching the show, they were all for nothing! it turns out refn said that he just rolled dice to write the entire series, and nothing means anything! he just spent millions of dollars to make these pretty pictures for you that mean nothing in sequence, totally contrary to what is known as "film". i am so sorry that you wasted your time and your brilliant thoughts are just wasted here. there's a website called "reddit" that i would highly suggest to a cinematic connoisseur such as yourself. please check it out!

characters on this show are autistic triggers of sex and/or violence.

its doesnt happend in our reality or in a real world like reality, it is refn playing with his 'mythology' of lone wolfs and witches.

true detective 2 was kino, RAY VELCORO IS MY NIGGA. (caspere knew this.)

Imagine taking the time to type up this reply instead of just answering the question

He literally said in an interview his wife wanted to move to LA, so he filmed the series as an excuse to move in. And IT SHOWS

it took under half a minute. imagine responding to me without recognizing the sarcasm and realizing that yes, there is characterization and plot for people who aren't impatient retards, and the show itself makes that very clear with its pacing

That's precisely what they should do, you fucking imbecile.

You're dumb as shit.

Arbitrarily assigning symbolic meaning to random objects or images is extremely hacky

Why are you lying, you delusional cretin? What about the camp full of pedophiles, or the pornographer brothers listening to a preacher talking about a swastika on your heart, or the nazi rapist killed by the Mexican bitch? Nazis in this show are almost synonymous for pedophiles and rapists.

But Refn does make the same movie over & over again. It just gets more boring, fake, empty and pretentious.

Then how do you explain the sneaky Jews during the reenactment of the crucifixion?

Attached: Jews.png (1920x1080, 2.4M)

>pornographer brothers listening to a preacher talking about a swastika on your heart
that never happened, that was a scene with martin and viggo
>What about the camp full of pedophiles
what???? 2bh i'm on episode 8 of 10 so maybe i haven't gotten there yet, but i have no clue what you're talking about

lol get ready for the cringiest shit you'll see all year

Your instincts are correct. It's just a bunch of people asking a question, waiting 30 seconds for an answer, not getting any kind of response, then someone says something unrelated and after a long pause exits the room.

No it isn't. Watch it again. It's Martin watching the brothers listening to the preacher.
The scene I am talking about is Viggo shooting up a camp full of pedophiles and rapists after his mother dies. You won't miss the gigantic nazi flag.

It's easy. Refn thinks cops are racist clowns. You didn't think he actually endorses the cops buffoonery?

lol at people actually falling for this

Attached: 11a.jpg (1588x2367, 656K)

Attached: 11b.jpg (500x332, 64K)

ahahahah does this happen? i just finished episode 8. is this really where it goes? the first nazi flag in the whole series was in episode 8 where whatshername kills the dude at the motel, but that had absolutely no bearing on the story and felt calculated on refn's part, as his last however many movies were lambasted by fags for being anti-whatever. i felt with that, people could look and go "oh, he's killing nazis!" and like with the FASCISM FASCISM FASCISM and FAKE NEWS parts, i felt that wasn't serious either... the guy who runs away screaming FAKE NEWS gives "jesus" a stab saying "this one is for the NRA" for example, which seems like an obvious joke. refn has never been a PC dude. i should go actually watch it instead of commenting here, but i'm curious what you all have to say
i don't think refn would name something "cold as heaven" anyway

There’s something endearing about the cops though. Like, they’re dumb, but they’re not degenerate psychopaths like the majority of the other characters.

The last two episodes are like a giant anal prolapse at the end of something kind of cool

I speak fucking Spanish and the second episode made me want to shoot myself.

shit, you got me

It didn't bother me that Martin died, but it bothers me that the show completely lost track of any kind of momentum once he did. The show insists on refusing to give the audience anything to care about.

I did enjoy watching Jenna Malone dance to Goldfrapp, though. Masterful stuff.

This show is a pleb filter in that if you can't tell the difference between it and actual good shows of its type, you're outed as a mindless drone that thinks it's deep because it "feels" deep.

It is to pacing and atmosphere and dialog what Bohemian Rhapsody was to editing. Objectively poor form but too many people can't tell the difference so it wins an Oscar.

This trash is actually full of itself. Refn is literally the growling tiger man whether he knows it or not.

it seems inspired by it at the very least, however stoic car guy is basically an archetype at this point

fuck me, i think he's being influenced by kojimbo

>Refn is literally the growling tiger man whether he knows it or not.
There is actually a scene where he parodies himself through that character. Why not watch the whole thing before commenting.

Because clearly I don't need to watch the whole thing to piece that much together. The question is whether he knows he looks like a giant pretentious cunt, both for the movie and as the character.

There's literally a spinning perfume tray in episode 6 at the Asians' party

He's definitely self aware. I mean the guy started off doing low budget crime films and Pusher 3 has a scene where a balkan crime guy gets diarrhea from eating too much kebab.

It's not a masterpiece or anything, far from it, but WHY IS IT SO SLOW????WHY IS NOTHING HAPPENING??? plebs like you don't get to express an opinion. Neck yourself

For this show those are legitimate questions. Something can still be interesting with slow pans or static shots; the imagery and pauses just need to be worth the time and attention. In this case they rarely ever are.

I don't disagree, but I'm butthurt because these are typically the same people shitting on filmmakers like Lynch, as also seen in this thread

Good website to watch movies and TV shows for free? I had a good one on my history but I fucking deleted my history

Motherfucker

FYI, I've loved most of Refn's movies. Drive, Only God Forgives, Bronson, Pusher flicks, you name it. And I dislike this thing a lot. The thing is Refn attempts to make a statement with regard to the current sociopolitical situation, but his take is merely a perfunctory regurgitation of Huff Post tier leftist garbage with nothing of substance and usually amounts to self-indulgent deliberations of a bourgeois, elitist cunt with a reddit tier mentality and nothing particularly interesting to say, using political critique solely to make himself more hip and relevant than he actually is. The show is diluted with filler to an insufferable degree and too muddled for its own good to be of much worth as far as its social commentary goes. It's too Lynchian in its humorous moments, it's too self-indulgent and cringy to be of much worth as far as its sociopolitical commentary is concerned, its story is not fleshed out enough to be of much worth dramatically speaking. The whole thing is just way too self-indulgent to be treated seriously. Refn endeavors to straddle both surrealism as well as more down-to-earth sociopolitical drama, failing on both accounts horrendously. It's neither surrealistically evocative nor dramatically compelling. It just doesn't gel at all. I liked some of it, but it's by and large a misfire. I doubt I will ever re-watch it. Refn is a great filmmaker, but a horrible thinker and an insufferably pretentious cunt.

is refn trying to out-lynch david lynch or does he get paid by the minute?

I liked the characters. The actors were ok for the most part, but feels like Refn drugged the whole cast.

>make a shitty banal crime movie
>stretch it out to 13 hours with pointlessly long shots and robotic pauses between every line of dialogue
>effectively deflects criticism because now if you don't like it that means you have ADHD and only like Transformers
pretty genius

This has nothing in common with Lynch, what are you talking about.

speaking of..

i want to know how much of the writing/plot in this is refn vs. how much is brubaker. i'm not too Yea Forums so i'm not familiar with his work but a lot of the sociopolitical stuff seems way outside refn's wheelhouse. the police station scenes, scenes with nazi flags, scenes where a character is listening to talk radio or watching a conspiracy video, and that goofy "cartel tv" scene aren't like anything else in his filmography. you think it's brubaker or is refn trying to make a statement about the state of america now that he's a resident and not just passing through on press tours?

i am sure that those scenes you mentioned had brubakers hand in them. but look at this, the last two episodes are credited to Halley Wegryn Gross

Attached: lol.jpg (619x66, 18K)

Brubaker is a pretty good crime novelist/comic writer, but his shit is very predictable and basic. Like it's high quality stuff (imo), but all the weird character beats of these people (tiger growl, cocaine sniffs, detectives, etc.) have to be Refn.
I could see him and Refn plotting out the basic stuff (cop kills crime mama, son goes to mexico and returns for revenge) and then Refn added all the insane details. I'd love to hear him give an interview about the project.

You are correct about Refn, but Lynch's movies are based.
To summarize, you are a fag.

One of Refn's definite objectives was to portray the Trumpian America and its allegedly fascistic roots, which he clearly alluded to in one of the interviews leading up to the release of the series. While the tone of the political skits is decidedly different from Refn's other work, so is his interest in politics, so it might be all Refn for all I know. Either way, the sociopolitical commentary is one of the most paltry components of the whole series. I'm in the middle of the eighth episode and the series might be the worst work Refn has done so far, I'm having trouble finishing this piece of shit, it's too bad, 'cause it was very promising at the very beginning. It might be even worse than Fear X.

Its funny how shit changed as this show went on for me.

I fucking hated Martin at first and liked Jesus (he was a good boy he dindu nuffin).

But by the end hoo boy I fucking hated Jesus and I really liked Martin's development from a careless psychopath to attempted-virtuous psychopath

yaritza made me eat my cummies

anyone else here that couldn't stand Jesus?

exactly lol

i hated him as soon as he made that stupid fucking face

just imagine if this showed up in one of the nazi scenes

All the characters are a bit thin, but the fact Jesus and Yaritza just do whatever they want with impunity makes them even less interesting than they would be otherwise. The way the show peters out has a great deal to do with those two.

It's that permanent Blue Steel pout on his face

Attached: e4a4575b56633bcc38b00197d120d3c4.jpg (420x454, 28K)

Its a more serious look than blue steel. More like Magnum imo

this whole show owes its existence to the new Peaks.

>Refn filtering plebs with his ultraviolent perfume campaigns
best director alive

thats not the problem once it is his style since drive.

the problem is the lack of interesting and well developed characters.

viggo is the only one that has something going on, all the others are there to do stuff on slow motion.

>you're just a wetback

Attached: 1560846319106.jpg (600x600, 71K)

That whole scene and putdown was genuinely hilarious.
