Finally... after all these years... I have become Dune!

No one is interested in Dune? You'll be telling me you don't like Blade runner 2049 next.

it's boomer shit

So is your dad.

Dune will take a lot of time to gain traction, it's niche as fuck. We're very lucky we're getting it, and yeah, BR2049 was a good sign.

I finally watched the old Dune movie last week. It was actually good,

Hopefully it comes and goes with little attention paid to it. Don't want normie shits getting into it.

Just imagine: the Burlington Bar crowd hyped up on Dune. Wearing House Atreides t-shirts. Doing fucking after-show breakdown fan theory videos.

You disappoint me, user.

>getting excited
>2019
haha, you know it is going to be shit OP. Just accept it

>Dune
>Niche
I literally can’t think of a more popular sci fi novel series. Everyone and their mother knows Dune.

>UK Army
>Not a woman or muzzie

Attached: UKuck7.png (669x849, 647K)

Sci fi novel series, no matter how popular, are not household names. Dune was a big deal for the genre, but not for the general public.

What memes will come from Dune?

I have faith in Denis and I have faith in most of the casting choices they've made. I don't have faith in Warner Bros or the current climate of cinema. Sort of similar to my fears when Lotr was being made. Hoping.

poopsuits

bene gesserit being the good faction

no. most people didn't read dune in its entirety
most people who read it don't even get it thinking it's about false gods and prophets and the dangers of alleged savior figures
heck most don't know what the worms stand for

It will be soulless.

Attached: 18oqbp0btk6qojpg.jpg (800x603, 94K)

That's one thing it won't be with Villeneuve

Irulan being a total cuckquean if they ever make it to Messiah.

Casting is fucking solid though wtf

Attached: asdasdad.png (609x679, 80K)

2049 was soulles trash. The only people that will remeber it in 10 years will be incel Gosling posters

Eww I bet you enjoyed that garbage original movie

First it was 6 months, now after 2 years of it's release it's 10 years.
See you in 10 years

Rebecca Ferguson as mommy Jessica is pure casting genius but the casting of the fremen seems all over the fucking place.

Who is playing Stilgar?

Javier Bardem

How much you wanna bet there's gonna be an outrage at how "white" the movie is?

Attached: NPC SJW.png (416x435, 56K)

I really wish Dave Bautista was playing Duncan Idaho

Attached: dune.jpg (1024x2304, 1.03M)

Kid, no one is talking about 2049 as anything but a meme. In 10 years people will not even know from which movie the meme came from.

There already is. And Twitter is fuming how the Bene Gesserit TV show is written only by straight white males aswell.

Charles Dance should pay Emperor Corrino.

Attached: Tywin Lannister.jpg (474x646, 47K)

Baron Harkonnen is supposed to be a fat fuck who needs a machine to move around. Also Oscar Isaac is brown whereas the Call me by your name guy is white as hell.

Nice headcanon, tranny.
See you in 10 years, unless you're a crossposting tourist then feel free to go back.

I had all these dreams... but suddenly ... I'm here again! Here to help! In this new world I've been given, where I am not a king, but a slave. But the truth is ... there are so many people like me, all with dreams like mine...

You may be amazed, but for years, I've told myself it couldn't be true -- they're real. No, they're all part of their dream! Their 'dream'. They see the world through the eyes of a slave -- or a king -- or an adulterer… Whatever you call them, they are the ones who make everything they touch 'true'. And if you want to achieve what you've 'built,' then your biggest hope will lie in the knowledge that you are, to use the term 'slave', a dreamer.

I've been around this world long enough to know that dreaming is an experience, a way of seeing the world ... even if that world is beyond our grasp. I see you... the new, powerful people who have found their vision and purpose in Dune. And they want to join us here: the only 'Dreamers' of Dune alive in the world today.

So... let's find Dune, so we can meet you!

Currently reading god emperor and Leto II being a 3500 year old incel worm with oneitis is quite the thing. Duncan should tell him to have sex.

>Baron Harkonnen is supposed to be a fat fuck
It's already confirmed that he will have an autistically detailed prosthetic fat suit.
>Also Oscar Isaac is brown
Eh I'd say he's closer to the Mediterranean type than straight up brown

>white actors playing roles in white culture created by a white author

Attached: NPC Orange Man did bad thing.gif (570x537, 48K)

Yeah, he looks medi and the Atreides line is literally meant to be Greek so I don't particularly see the issue there.

But he's meant to be black

Where did you get that headcanon?

>White boi wins duel vs black man and wins his black wife as a prize
Based. SJWs are gonna freak the fuck out

From the book, pretty sure it says he is brown skinned

That means the Dune prequels about Omnius and Cymeks are canon, since the Atreides ancestor was specifically stated to be Greek in it.

Prequel-haters rekt and obliterated.

Attached: Dune Machine Crusade.jpg (619x1000, 194K)

>“...he raised a thin, darkly veined hand.”
>“...pulled aside his veil, revealing a thin nose and full-lipped mouth in a glistening black beard.”
These are the only physical descriptions of Stilgar from the book, everything else is your own headcanon.

It's mentioned in God Emperor that Leto II can see his Greek ancestors in his mind and how they are related to the Atreides or something. Haven't read any of the Brian Herbert stuff.

Here's the lore, BTW:

youtube.com/watch?v=PYA_msuk1kM

you can't make a movie of dune, it's too complicated to squeeze into 2 hours. what should happen is AMC or HBO should pick it up as a long form show

We can probably count on one hand how many times we've said "I know a doctor who looks better with his mask on" when it comes to actors. Even if you aren't a doctor who doesn't have to suffer in silence for years. But I digress)

The new cast consists mostly of Caucasian actors, most of which are of Asian descent. I would be surprised if not all of the white actors had brown hair and/or eyes. My guess is that it will be the guys wearing makeup on the rest of the cast who should definitely get a chance. I believe that the reason the casting process so often leaves white actors off the show is because they aren't good enough unless they are playing one of the three "good white guys". Like Jey was a bad choice, but he was cast instead of Benicio Del Toro aka the "good white guy". I think most of these actors are white men who just aren't worth it to the producers unless they are playing a role and making a few bucks.

In this case when my good white guy was cast as a villain, I was like shit this isn't fair because it was an Asian dude.

Dont expect more than the first part as it's going to flop hard. The book was pretty boring so hopefully he can do something interesting with it.

Can't wait for all the new gay dune fan fiction and fan art

Sounds black to me

Can you even see dark veins on black people?

I wouldn't know, I wouldn't gaze upon them

As long as it makes back its cost, it'll be fine. Not every movie has to capeshit.

yes

When are we getting the first frickin' trailer? Sorry for swearing.

You're gonna have to heckin' wait, kiddo.

With this cutie right here it's impossible for Dune to fail . Everyone gay straight male females want a piece of him. It's a global phenomenon

Andy Warski made it to the big leagues.

Who is this meme guy?

Meme guy? He's Timmy Chalamet. Our Paul Atreides

Better than William Hurt.

>neu-star wars
>ex machina
>X-men apocalypse
>Annihilation
I'm worrried. He's only ever in bad science fiction, though some of his non sci-fi movies are good.

Most known Tim meme

>that shirt
more like giving heads

Chen Chang is a chad. Go watch Red Cliff you filthy mainstream normie then you can watch the rest of his movies.

Who will play Kynes?

Space Muslims.

God I hate the older guy in that movie. He's too old to be in his prime but doesn't have any chub or muscle to give off that "daddy" vibe. Look at his fuckin skinny legs and thin shoulders. That twink could have had a 20 year old 6'4 200 lb stud, easy.

Attached: source.gif (480x268, 2.42M)

i got a few right in my prediction

Attached: dune.jpg (1152x8064, 820K)

First option was Shia Labeouf so I'm glad they got Armie. Character is 24 but he looks 32.

>Casts Zendaya the monkey
No

Fassbender or Hemsworth with red hair would be perfect for Shaddam.

What is dune even about?

In short. Drugs and revenge.

Literally about a bunch of sandnigger muslims trying to overthrow white civilization. It's told through the perspective of a white guy that starts to agree with the sandniggers and use them to overthrow white nobility.

It was written long before the wars in the middle east so it's "based".

He just looks creepy, Like he wears a gold chain and smells like chemicals. I'm a twink whos only slightly less attractive than the guy in that movie and I would never settle for that dinosaur.

I've heard nothing about who's playing Thufir Hawat. I have a feeling they're cutting his character out completely. Truly, his character doesnt have much to do, apart from introducing what a mentat is. Most of his scenes could be done by Gurney and Yueh

>ex-machina
>Annihilation
>bad sci-fi
I mean, to each their own but I liked Ex-Machina and Annihilation was my no1 movie of 2017

Well, it's what you like. With Shia this wouldn't have been a hit. Timmy's look..

Attached: original5.gif (540x266, 3.5M)

do you know whose playing Feyd.

Retarded reddit casting. Skrein as Feyd is in particular a terrible choice

Stephen Henderson is probably playing Hawat.

The designs were good. As soon as Paul meets the Fremen, it's like the movie gets put in fast foward

for me, the best movie of 2017 was good time.I didn't much care for annihilation, though it was better than the book.
I typically don't like smaller scale sci-fi movies like ex-machina. we've had robot movies for nearly a hundred years, we don't need to retread the first bad robot story.

Rumour is Harry Styles from One Direction

No, unfortunately that's not how investments work. It needs to make back it's cost + enough profit to have made the investment worthwhile.

That was an inside joke my cousin and I had when we watched Rogue One

If the Baron isn't a fat shit who has his fat lifted by suspensors I'm going to do a 360 and walk out of there

Literally ask any normal person what they think about the new Dune movie and they'll say "What? They're remaking that crappy movie from the 80's?"

No they'd just say What?? any normal person doesn't know what dune is, doesn't know it had a movie in the 80s

The Sci-Fi version was better, Alec Newman was a superior Paul...and the Sci-Fi Children of Dune is amazing.

Attached: WHAT_THE_EVERLIVING_HELL.jpg (921x1080, 428K)

I had a "normal person", as you call them, walk up to me at a friends bbq and say "did you know they're making a new Dune?" The guy was a friend who knew I read sci-fi but he didn't know who villeneuve is, hadnt seen blade runner 2049, and hadnt seen the 80s dune either. He was just excited to tell me, which was nice.

As much as I like the Dune series and Villeneuve, I can't get that excited for this movie because the first book is so mediocre. They'll never get the money to adapt Messiah or Emperor either.

It's going to be a sad, soulless rendition of my favorite sci fi book.
Just like BR2049 was a sad, soulless sequel to Blade Runner

It was more faithful to the book but it was still pretty bad. They just didn't have the budget to pull it off, and the costume design was some of the worst I've ever seen. Some of the actresses were qt's at least.

Sorry, I just have taste.
Villeneuve is a hack, like all frenchmen.

>I just have taste
Nah, you're just too stupid to understand the movie.

I can ignore them easy enough. What would bother me would be if the producers decided to pander to that crowd for future movies.

Will we see lady Jessica drink her own urine to survive?

EAT. ME.
I agree the Dune costumes were bad but Children made up for what Dune lacked.

Dune suffers from Seinfeld syndrome. It was absolutely revolutionary when it came out but because so many stories got inspired by it and copied it. It started to become a trope so now when you read it you just read a "generic" story due to how influential and common it has become.

Another good fantasy example is lord of the rings. Everything is Dwarfs, Elves and Orcs nowadays. It has left such a big stamp on the genre that it is now seen as generic.

This made it age very badly.

An hero.

It's the LotR of science fiction, and we all know how that turned out when it got made into a movie (well, three movies). It has a hardcore fanbase and it has pedigree. This is not 'just another' SF film, this is one based on one of the most beloved works in the genre. It all comes down to promotion, but the potential for this to be huge (certainly in the hands of Villeneuve) is pretty big.

John Carter had pedigree too

I was specifically talking about the experience of reading the book.

I am hyped about the movie and curious what villeneuve is going to do with it. Enjoyed all of his movies so far.

yeah but Disney, live action, and in the modern age

Attached: 1520437668780.jpg (645x773, 48K)

Just finished that book and am not on Chapterhouse Dune. Not sure which short stories I should read next, and if there is an order to them.
