Total collapse
All the theaters get bought by Disney
double down on remakes/sequels with trannies and ugly darkies. it's white people's fault that Hollywood is suffering. IT'S YOUR FAULT GOYIM.
Death
Imagine if Episode IX underperforms. I think Hollywood will enter a genuine panic.
*fast cut to me walking very briskly from behind inside a genric movie studio office
*burst into an office meeting
"who the hell are you, security"
"Make the matrix prequals already you fucking retards"
*throw down smoke bomb and dissapear down the fire escape
6 MCU movies per year
Coming up with new stories that aren’t SJW garbage with interesting dialogue and engaging characters.
Maybe we shouldn’t have to wait for the actually talented directors to release 1 movie every 5 years while complete hacks who only got the job through nepotism get multi million dollar budgets to make shitty propaganda.
Coke, children, and communism.
Someone post that scene from euphoria
I think it will. It will obviously make a profit and rake money in merch etc but it'll make way lower than 7 & 8. There's not nearly as much hype for this. Too much "subverting" in the last one I guess.
You mean Disneywood?
I'm gonna assume they're just gonna follow the real estate and energy sectors and demand a government bailout.
They'll get it, even if they have to wait until 2024.
It’s literally because everyone went to see Endgame this month instead. Dumb-ass journalists can’t critical thinking.
Just double down on capeshit
Ummmmm.. yes, user! I wish I could give you gold for this comment :)
The studios all get bought out by Chinese companies and you remember that Taiwan is a break away province
To be honest it seems like a lot of these blockbusters are by previous smaller indie directors who then sell their souls to direct capeshit/blockbusters.
Quite a strange phenomenon.
2019 is a disaster. Endgame and Cpt Marvel are literally only successes so far.
Rolling for this
I really wonder what happens with the next couple of DC movies, they have better release dates than Shazam did but Shazam doing so tepid must have scared WB.
this is unironically what they will do
Man, I used to genuinely want to be a filmmaker, until I went to a prestigious film school with ties to (((the industry))). Hollywood is totally out of touch with America and the rest of the world. I don’t hate them, but if they want my attention again they probably need to
1. Start making films with positive/truthful messages again
2. Take a 10 year break (at least) from all Sci-Fi, capeshit, dumb cgi action Schlock bullshit; let’s have 10 years of like documentaries about whales and nature and shit, and musical movies like A Star Is Born or The South Pacific ... you know, classy theater shit instead of dumb goy capeshit
3. Spend those 10 years learning how to relate to the people who elected Trump, because give me liberty or give me death: I’m not going away unless you faggots kill me.
blame white males
Sounds like more of the same, then.
I bet they do fine. Shazam already has a spinoff with Black Adam. It's pretty much one of the only "big" films this summer not to lose money
They're both slated to start filming later this year or early 2020 as well, wonder what the budgets look like
Hollywood has been far too indulgent with politics and politician partisans for three to ever happen. They might do 1 & 2, but never, ever 3.
you tell 'em brother
Indie/= good
When I hear indie I immediately think of some (((industry executives))) nephew who decided he wanted to be “unique” and made a pretentious shithole whose message boils down to fuck whitey.
The movie theater model is going to collapse and Streaming will be the future. It's not so much that people dont want to see sequels/reboots/remakes etc. It's that they would rather wait until the movie comes out on Netflix to watch it than pay 24 dollars a seat for what ultimately qualifies as a glorified sneak peak of a movie thats going to come out on Netflix in less than a few months.
Why would I go to a movie when timthetatman is free? I'm a tier 3 sub, but that's voluntary. Hollywood is over.
I will personally hang you on the day of the rope
God I wish
Anti Trump stuff.
Shazam made almost 4 times its budget back and Aquaman made more money than Captain Marvel a few months before, they'll be fine
>hey longnose exec #1, should we invest more in original, well-written, mid-budget projects with relatable characters played by likable actors?
>fuck no, longnose exec #2, give longnose director $200 million to do the reboot of the Professor Xavier origin movie
Lol sure thing lil buddy
You better hit the gym hard now
More garbage, what else?
They will make only one movie a year and they will call it "THE ENTERTAINMENT" and every year the one movie will just be a sequel to the entertainment. Also if you point out how we have deevolved as a society then they will call you a nazi neckbeard
And that one movie a year will be a multi-billion dollar production, with unprecedented production size. In a few years they will begin integrating people actually fighting and shooting at one another, and once that's happened they will begin using criminals being executed in the movies death scenes.
>Shazam made almost 4 times its budget back and Aquaman made more money than Captain Marvel a few months before, they'll be fine
Thats only because they spent much less on them than they did for the other DC movies. Wan was a filmmaker with connections who managed to make a smaller budget go farther, and shazam was basically a glorified B-Movie with how cheap it looked at points (it was a good movie despite that).
Has a movie studio ever gotten popped for "Hollywood Accounting"? Or do they have some kind of arrangement with the govt because they're basically a propaganda machine?
>ignore a growing market to appeal to a market that is shrinking and spiteful
yea no.
>relate to the people who elected Trump, because give me liberty or give me death
I never understood why republicans always choose death.
Capeshit only
Live action anime
More Capeshit.
A good Superman movie trilogy that literally everyone loves, each one better than the last, without it being bought out by Disney.
>godzilla2: bad movie
>men in black: bad movie
>xmen: really bad movie
I see nothing wrong with them flopping.
They'll keep doing the same thing and you'll see this story again next year. Just like you saw it last year and the year before.
It will
>A good Superman movie trilogy that literally everyone loves
>without it being bought out by Disney.
This. At least give us this trilogy before Hollywood collapses.
Based
>”growing market”
>Hollywood is failing hard in the US and having to rely on China ticket sales to make up for lost profits
I would rather die than live in this Jewish hell. Might as well go down fighting.
>This. At least give us this trilogy before Hollywood collapses.
Regrettabbly thats prob never going to happen. God hates Superman and cursed him because he's the Jesus of the DC universe, and he cant stand blasphemy against his holy name.
Yeah that's how I cope with this shit world we find ourselves in where fucking Aquaman and Captain Marvel are more beloved than fucking Superman.
Wow. Numbers. Hello.
Man, I could just curse you both and be done with it, but I won’t waste the effort. You’re beneath me.
they've been making sci-fi movies since 1902 you dumb Trumpfag, don't lump it in with capeshit
Maybe streaming kills it but cheaper theater like set ups will become a thing “come out to rib shack for such and such wings and watch the new Tom Cruise movie outside on the big screen”
Sci-fi movies are for children and retards. Neck yourself
Disney buys all movie theaters and turns them into budget Disneylands where you pay $15 to see Star Wars/Marvel/Disney movies
I think it was Peter Jackson who said that if hes pressured into making movies to be viewed at the size of a smartphone, he'e probably never make a movie ever again.
>Disney buys all movie theaters and turns them into budget Disneylands where you pay $15 to see Star Wars/Marvel/Disney movies
This is obviously a joke. But it's scarily close to how things are actually going. They're too powerful. If the GOP wants to regulate Google and Facebook, disney needs to be put in the same hotseat.
this is a very antisemitic post
>Disney buys all movie theaters and turns them into budget Disneylands
They want stadiums as well, family friendly police and all.
Ideally, it would mark a return to the era where Hollywood made movies that weren't just simplistic blockbuster genre movies made to appeal to every age, nationality and gender
Looking on the history of box office successes, it's astounding how they allowed basically all storycraft and art to be relegated to indie flicks that nobody ever hears of and made big movies into amusement park rides
I still go to the movie theaters that serve you dinner, and go to IMAX when there's something visually impressive that I want to see in it's full glory.
It's just the overpriced mid-tier bus-seat coach class basic bitch movie theaters arent going to be a thing anymore. Either you go super cheap or super premium, but the experience needs to be more than just a regular movie playing in front of you nowadays for people to be willing to cough up cash. But snobs will always need a place to see stuff, families will always need a cheap excuse to get out of the house, and teens will always need a place to go on a date without the pressure to talk before jerking each other off in the dark.
My asshole
My expanding anushole
My diarrhea dispensing machine
>hates sci-fi
>likes musical theater singalongs
either you're a faggot or a woman
lets hope
How would that work? The real estate and energy sectors make sense to be bailed out because of their social necessity. We don't need film and TV.
>God hates Superman and cursed him because he's the Jesus of the DC universe, and he cant stand blasphemy against his holy name.
This is depressing. I guess that's why Dragon Ball can't translate to live action. Goku is a similar character.
>This is depressing. I guess that's why Dragon Ball can't translate to live action. Goku is a similar character.
A live action Dragonball movie has a better chance of working than a live action Superman because Goku isn't meant to be perfect. He does make mistakes and fuck up from time to time and that makes him relatable. Superman isn't allowed to have any of that.

Honey, I’m a white, masculine, heterosexual male who’s gotten more pussy than you ever will.
They've been here before; they'll just regroup and start a New Hollywood 2.0. I know most of Yea Forums is too young to remember, but there was a time before summer blockbusters.
People don't want to spend an arm and a leg over shit; this just basic market dynamics. Make good movies and people will go, keep making uninspired sequels and they'll avoid it.
Why are you coming at me with this baby shit.
What's really shitty is that people could start alternative venues for movies by filming in different cities—if only they could get funding and permits. Which they can't. Because Hollywood lobbies against that shit hard.
Are you legitimately retarded
When was this?
Austin is starting to be a good place to make movies

Grow the fuck up.

Such sights to show you
I don't want to see sequels/reboots/remakes etc. which is what I don't go to the cinema or pay for any streaming services either.
Dear god I hope this will happen.
>I don't want to see sequels/reboots/remakes etc.
Clearly you're in the minority given how much Marvel is making.
Literally is just "summer of if you're not MCU you're fucked"
>Literally is just "summer of if you're not MCU you're fucked"
Marvel movies are literally the only reason people go to see movies in the theater anymore.
Marvel is making most of its money overseas from people who think it’s what Americans watch.
>let’s have 10 years of like documentaries about whales and nature and shit, and musical movies like A Star Is Born or The South Pacific
We can only hope!
I say let the industry collapse like the Video game industry did in the 70's. Have them learn the hard way.
Endgame was literally the endgame for Hollywood as we know it.
Episode IX won't under perform. Everyone always falls for the (alleged) last chapter meme.
>Endgame was literally the endgame for Hollywood as we know it.
and DC will never have a movie like endgame to call it's own. I think we can officially say Marvel won, but DC was never even a player.
Liberal condescension can only go so far until more soibois litter the streets in blood mewling for the police that they hate so much.
If you hate white people so much, please kill yourself.
alien invasion movies hopefully
er no
the upside, us, john wick 3, aladdin are all successes. and there is a lot more to come
Shhh they need they’re clicks
2019 is probably gonna have six or seven 1 billion+ movies
It's fine
Normally I'd agree with you, but I think the writing is on the wall. See Even ignoring how much hate is out there for TLJ, Disney released too many Star Wars movies too quickly. The release of a new Star Wars movie used to be an event, but not anymore. Franchise fatigue set in a lot more quickly than they anticipated, which is no doubt in large part due to their mishandling of the franchise. Plus it being the end of the series doesn't even mean anything anymore. We've already had two "end of the saga" films, and on top of that we know for a fact that Disney is going to continue churning out these fucking movies after this is over. It's going to be hard to get people to buy into the idea that this movie is special, because the truth is that it's not. RoS is definitely not going to flop, but I don't think it will meet Disney's expectations by a significant margin.
More focus on streaming platforms.
They need to see the value in episodes rather then movies. Look at Chernobyl, they told the story and gave enough time to explain things and create a plot, but they didn't try to draw it out.
More focus on story and dialogue, if it's not good then start over.
trailer views aren't really high for sw movies because a big part of the auidience is boomers
>the upside, us, john wick 3, aladdin
I thought aladdin underperformed?
That's pretty interesting. Maybe I'm wrong then.
Trump voters are the market that matter, we're the ones who have jobs.
More sequels and reboots
But wasn't a fuckton of the Last Jedi hate from boomers? Boomers were pissed that the movie ruined Luke.
It's an interesting question, to answer this. We're always in discussions with the studio about bringing an animated feature to their platform. When they first came to us about doing a feature on Star Wars we were the only studio that knew about it, so we approached them with this very special proposition, a new Star Wars movie. I don't think that they ever did the homework in the world to see if we were serious and if this had the chance to be successful. We didn't just say, "let's bring The Force Awakens back to Disney" - they were very, very eager to find out who we were as a company, what kind of quality story we were going to tell for this character, and who we really wanted to work with on this. I think it was interesting to see what they said back to us and to their office when the meeting was finished, and I think that they did a really solid job of saying it was something we believed in, and that it was something that they wanted to do. And then in the end, that was the real deal for me. It was also something that I saw as a way of putting together an interesting set of tools, of storytelling tools for everyone to use in the future. So it was part of that process.
Looks like we got another decade of Marvel movies coming, since that's the only thing that makes money anymore.
they might have to be original
but I think that phrase is scarier to producers than any movie hollywood has ever made so who knows
>But wasn't a fuckton of the Last Jedi hate from boomers? Boomers were pissed that the movie ruined Luke.
The more I see the more I think I'm literally the only one in my age group who liked that movie.
>Coming up with new stories that aren’t SJW garbage with interesting dialogue and engaging characters.
What's wrong with one dimensional, woke PC caricatures that think and act like they're supposed to?
Art is its best during times of struggle. This is what Hollywood needs.
anime and videogame adaptions
Low budget films
A decently-written movie would be nice for a change
We're seeing a big shift to TV. Especially in the streaming arena.
At the rate we are going, only MCU movies are going to be profitable.
videogame movies
We are literally at the point where zoomers will only go to a theater for Marvel movies.
>Art is its best during times of struggle. This is what Hollywood needs.
It's kind've hard to make good movies when you're in fear from your life from roaming bands of mad max cannibals. If there is an American Civil war within the next ten or twenty years we will have much much bigger problems to worry about than who's playing Superman in the next movie.
Summer is failing because Hollywood isn't woke enough for today's audiences
God I hope not. Has there EVER been a good video game movie?
Street Fighter.
What's next for Hollywood?
>pic related
Every year a sequel breaks records for opening weekends, domestic records, etc. Sometimes multiple movies a year.
yeah, and when the Chinese get sick of watching buildings explode just like Americans did?
Weird how these record setting movies are all completely forgotten 3 months later.
Bailout from Trump
MIGA!
AND THAT'S A GOOD THING.
>God I hope not. Has there EVER been a good video game movie?
I dunno. Maybe Rampage? But most people didn't even know that was an adaptation of a video game.
inflation and globalism
if I had any idealism in me left: another 70's style era where auteur style filmmakers get to do their own personal films because the business goes through lots of changes and turmoil.
realistically it'll be just more of the same focus group tested, bland, product. Disney will soon own everything and we'll just have more dull product product product
more product
Expulsion of the jews hopefully.
Its designed to trick the audience just enough to get a good opening weekend and make its money back. If it doesn't, The Mouse will never admit it and Kathleen Kennedy will order her staff to pick fights with the audience some more because she can't handle criticism. I really hope it does flop though. I want it all to burn to the ground. I just don't want to play anymore.
???
Unfortunately it can run on the success of its predecessor for decades thanks to the abhorrent amount of money they accumulated, and while brainlet casual consumers can be tricked into paying from seeing one dumb commercial or comic-con trailer posted to rdit.
I pay attention to the MIGA posting because there might be some truth to it, but somehow I don’t see this happening.
everyone join hands.
fuck you, i'm serious.
The problem with Hollywood is that they don't make sequels people want. They also don't bring back the original cast, which is 100% the reason people like those movies.
tons get caught they just pay a "fine" and go back to doing it
no movie made after 1950 has technically made a "profit"
Complete lack of new ideas. Compare to the early 90s when multiple years top 10 grossing films would all be non sequels/reboots.
Even stuff like Detective Pikachu finally doing live action pokemon basically flopped. Everything has to be a franchise or expanded universe.
Probably a big anti union push.
Evan small productions have 200+ member union crews that waste time and resources.
Watch movies.
Can’t happen soon enough. The last one gave us Scorsese, Coppola, Lucas, Scott, etc.
please Allah i beg you
You had to work your way up years ago. Now it’s a case of one or two successful micro-budget projects and then straight into working on something with a budget equivalent to the GDP of a developing nation. It ruins them, because they aren’t ready.
As a massive Godzilla fan, can I just say that I'm sad this movie under-performed because I just love monsters and want more monster movies? Like fuck, man, I wanted my kaiju resurgence. Why does it seem to be crumbling before my very eyes?
>We're seeing a big shift to TV. Especially in the streaming arena.
Where is the proof of this? All streaming services are hemorrhaging money, and none of them will release their actual viewer numbers.
Hollywood account and jews
>It is estimated the film will need to gross $550–600 million in order to break-even
>budget $170–200 million[
>if I had any idealism in me left: another 70's style era where auteur style filmmakers get to do their own personal films because the business goes through lots of changes and turmoil.
You'd think this would be more likely considering how relatively cheap making and publishing an indie film is today compared to the 70s.
>Why does it seem to be crumbling before my very eyes?
Not enough Kong.
Have sez daggot
>2024
>bailout
Nigger I hope you realize Hollywood is a billion dollar industry. It's gonna take atleast a decade of terrible movies for them to even come close to bankruptcy for a bailout.
2030 or 2040 of terrible shit.
I'm just waiting for the Disney fatigue. These braindead mousefuckers can't keep watching the princess movies and quipshit forever.
dumbest post of the week award
third worlders will continue
Soon
Hollywood is slowly merging with Israeli production companies which are forging ties with China. We'll begin to see more blockbusters that eliminate the American perspective altogether. And China owns 40% of Epic Games, so Fortnite will be exploited to promote Zio-Sino non-kino. They will make Star Wars more and more "global." And we'll see a Marvel x Star Wars crossover before 2030, and even Iger has implied this in shareholder talks.
Disney has failed time and time again to market Star Wars to China.
>Ranger Solo
>no movie made after 1950 has technically made a "profit"
You don't really believe that do you? All those slasher films kept being made because they were cheap to make and were good returns on investment.
shoo incel
This would kill the industry even faster what the fuck
2005
null quads confirm
Being fucking original for once.
You can compare trailer views for episode 7 and episode 9 though. Huge dropoff.
Not strange at all if you actually think about it. If you have a big budget blockbuster in the pipeline you, as the studio, wants to make sure that it’s as safe as possible. You don’t want to give it to a Nolan or Burton who demands creative freedom and to be left alone with the project. You want someone who will film what you tell him to film and the way you tell him to film it, and to get that you bring in an inexperienced new guy.
>films flop
>companies go broke
>the mouse buys em up
this is the mouse's house people. it doesn't matter when they release their movies, people will go see them.
don't they say this shit every year
yet the sequels and reboots never stop
they'll just pick something else for next year like they always do
\o/
According to most of these bailouts, that’s a fucking lie
What did he mean by thism
>Why does it seem to be crumbling before my very eyes?
Because WB can't produce a good franchise to save their lives.
Now you know how Superman fans feel about Batman V Superman.
They tried it before and it failed miserably. You can’t successfully translate Dragon Ball to live action because shit would go from 0 to /pol/-lite very fucking fast because there’s only butthurt to be had translating generic animu race to real life
MOARRR!
KOTM will turn a small profit after streaming/physical sales. It was initally slated for a March release, but legendary/WB felt very confident in the film. I think they still feel very bullish on home market sales as the film is tracking better than G14 in terms of viewers actually liking the movie.
He means officially. The whole jist of "Hollywood Accounting" is that every film no matter how profitable is through various quasi-illegal means are on the legers as losing money. This is done for all kinds of tax avoidance, money laundering, and various other reasons.
Catering exclusively to China. I'm not even joking. They actually go see movies and if you look at the box office numbers, they make up most of the money.
God I hope the government cracks down on the whole fucking industry. Fuck all these studios.
China and India. There's tens of millions of people entering the middle class there everyday and in USA it's the opposite.
Oy vey, you don't mean that do you goy?
*every year
every single fantasy/sci-fi movie flopped (except based marvel of course)
>alita
>shazam
>hellboy
>alladin
>brightburn
>godzilla
>dark phoenix
they went to far with the low quality fantasy/sci-fi/comic book shit and got burned
next year get ready for nothing but crime, romcoms, and dance or cooking movies or whatever the fuck is popular with retarded normies these days
(and based marvel of course)
Something new. I'm done with capeshit. I'm done with sequels. Give me something new.
Can't wait for me WW3 kino if I survive
Spielberg is remaking West Side Story
amblin.com
Godzilla will likely eke out a profit margin in theaters and make decent bank in streaming/cable/syndication/DVD sailes. Most of these are shit.
Kek
Oh boy, the same damn article for the past 15 years, until the latest Marvel or whatever sequel makes bank again.
>american civil war
>3 norad nerds take out an entire city of rebels in a matter of minutes
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream
""""indie"""" movies with casual centrist philosphies
When will you niggers learn that trailer views don't mean shit. Trailers are free to watch; Movie tickets aren't. Detective Pikachu had ttrailer traction to rival that of Infinity War, yet only made a quarter of what that movie made. It would be surprising to see Sonic pull over 250 million, while the Star Wars shit, despite the fuckups, will make 800 million at the very least. People are fucking retarded. Alladin was a success despite the total lack of hype. Toy Story 4 will make a billion. Audiences will only get off their asses to watch Disneyshit remakes and the movie industry will crash and burn.
i wish but first capeshitters have to fuck off somehow
Don't be so anti Semetic.
tell that to disney
>city of rebels
norad doesn't even do that, last I checked
It'll make way lesser money than all the other nu-wars though. Lot of people have legit given up on the franchise.
This movie made bank, and honestly, it's much better than the trailers made it look.
Will Smith is clearly still bankable if he can replace Robin Williams in such an iconic role.
Have Sex
Counting all of the reboots I suppose BTTF is next, followed by stuff like Groundhog Day, maybe something else that is pretty memey like a Home Alone reboot
Didn't they pretty much blackmail Bill Murray into promoting the fem-ghostbusters? It was in the Sony leaks
No...Godzilla was rebooted three times (including Zilla) by 2014. BttF is sacrosanct. They can only fuck it up. there is no modern MJF. They might get a new Doc Brown of good caliber, but not the main character.
Yeah they blackmailed him. You can tell in interviews that the old Ghostbusters cast were hardly enthused with the direction the franchise was going.
I don't count godzilla but if we follow all of the live action reboots we've been getting from disney and all of the popular culture referencing the past, we are about to move into peak 90s. Bill & Ted is right around the corner
And that is what needed. Lower budget movies with charm and/or an own style. Giant budget blockbusters are dying because they are just CGHI fests with a horrible story, and you have constantly a new selection of these samish movies. They also need to bring the old action hero type back, but that is probably too "toxic" for the hollywood kikes...
They had a decent cast. They just ad-libbed it all so it sucked worse than it had to.
Rule of 30 says 90s is going to hit by 2022-2023.
Aquaman was legitimately 100x more awesome than it should have been. Best capeshit solo movie I'v seen.
READ THIS SHIT
wikileaks.org
We're already starting to get there, capt marvel, jumanji, I'm seeing blockbuster shirts at stores now.
Yeah wanted nothing to do with the shit show of a movie.
>Hollywood is proof that racists are bad for the economy.
>From now on the price of 3 movie tickets will be deducted from your salary and you may go to 3 movies of your choice that star non whites.
America saved. Thank me later.
the rule of 30 only applied when mainstream media was the result of a small number of entities. The internet rendered it invalid.
And that was because it has it's own style. It wasn't just another capeshit movie with the same colors, music and same fucking story/end battle. Plus it has Tron vibes, and I love tron.
IF. ONLY.
Aquaman had Marvel cock down its throat so hard that it was embarassing to watch. At least Wonder Woman tried to find a middle ground between typical DC edgyness and Marvel quipshit instead of completely losing its identity.
That sounds fucking awful. I dont want to see the "live action" Lion King either.
>Maybe we shouldn’t have to wait for the actually talented directors to release 1 movie every 5 years
Creating an interesting story and making it into a movie takes time. That's the root cause of this whole shitshow. You spoiled shits want everything done by the yesterday. Maybe you should learn to have some patience and not throw tantrums when "A long awaited seaquel" isn't done two years after the original release.
a cp film
Wonder woman literally threw away wonder woman's conflict by having ares be the main reason humans were bad.
I liked WWs sincerity too, desu, and am looking forward to WW84.
I believe you m8, we all do
This summer is bleak. I saw both Godzilla and Xmen this week and both were complete garbage that didn't deserve any money. Xmen was insultingly bad and honestly felt like they were polluting the brand as a fuck you to Disney
There’s 3 distinct flavors of the 90’s:
1990-1991 is leftover 80’s
1992-1994 is when the 90’s asserted itself as its decade. It also helps that the Cold War ended in December 1991
1995-1999 is ideally what a lot of people identify from that decade. The fashion, music, and pop culture were really distinct compared to the earlier 90’s stages.
>teaser vs trailer
Really makes you think how retarded some "people" are.
It really is. I don’t think I’ve seen a summer like this before. I remember when growing up summer movies would have action thrillers, comedies, horror flicks, or some kind of teen/college piece. There was always something in the 90’s and 00’s that would attract viewers.
I’m only morbidly curious about Child’s Play and Toy Story. Everything else doesn’t interest me.
Streaming is already dying. It was a 2010s phenomenon that will not survive the 2020s.
Also, people want to watch action movies, horror movies and adventure movies. It's always been that way. I have no idea why Hollywood doesn't know this.
92-94 was the grunge/Xfiles era. It depends on what people identify as the zeitgeist whether that or the 95-98 era was more representative.
More Marvel movies.
Streaming services will kill streaming. There's so many streaming services now that only have like 1-2 good shows that people watch that it's basically just TV on demand at this point only more expensive.
Re-reboots
>92-94 was the grunge
Idk why people always pick the worst shit to represent a time period. Nobody listened to Grunge except weirdos and edgetards.
Imagine if god released a new book in the bible: 'Jesus Christ and the temptation of Satan' where Jesus becomes evil and his apostles have to kill him AGAIN, but this time for good, so they ban his spirit into a magical vessel that grants infinite powers to whomever gets ahold of it. In the second part the emperor is searching for it and is killing everyone in its way, so the virgin Mary uses the device to turn back time and kill herself before she receives baby Jesus.
90s started in '89. The very late 80s were extremely different from the rest of the 80s and already had the dark and edgy zeitgeist of the 90s.
Likewise, the 2000s started in '99. Britney Spears was already 2000s.
Source: I'm old enough to have experienced it live.
There are like 5 successful blockbusters this entire year.
Indeed it was. 1992-1994 is markedly different in aesthetics compared to the late 80’s/1990-1991.
If you look at the 1992-1994 seasons of Beverly Hills 90210, Melrose Place, Step by Step, or Married with Children, you can definitely see the styles and atmosphere creep up.
1995-1998 is when you took the development from 1992-1994 and streamline it with the Clintonian era of race relations and nilhistic backlash.
Because it was distinct from the 80’s and 00’s. That style of music broke free from glam metal of the 80’s and did its own thing.
>and did its own thing.
Being different doesn't make something useful or good. Grunge died fast and is a dead-end of Rock.
You already had "urban" problems and nihilism back in '89. 21 Jump Street for example.
I expect a fuckload of damage control just before the movie even comes out
Thins is true. Jump Street explored a lot of that. But the nihilism that I’m talking about is the counterculture pseudo-intellectual element that Daria portrayed. I remember in high school from 1997 to 1999 how that sort of viewpoint was filtering in.
90’s movies that accurately depict the social climate is stuff like S.F.W. or Angus for the middle period of the decade which is what a lot people conceive it as. Even Mallrats can fall under this l.
Not saying it was good or bad, but it helped cement what defined what made the 90’s culturally distinct.
I love how companies like to shit on their consumer base nowadays and double down on their bullshit.
I know how you feel, user.
>fan of Star Wars: this one is self-explanatory
>fan of cyberpunk: BR2049 underperforms and GiTS is shit, so we don't get a resurgence of cyberpunk movies
>fan of Fury Road: George Miller has a dispute with WB putting all of its planned sequels in development hell
>fan of Prometheus: Alien Covenant throws everything established in that movie out the window and then kills the Alien franchise
>fan of Snyder's DCEU: critics didn't respond well to BvS (to put it lightly), JL was a fucking disgrace, we'll never get to see the end of the 5 film story Snyder had planned out
>fan of Hellboy: del Toro's third film never happened, and the reboot was fucking awful
>fan of Godzilla: KotM underperforms, so GvK will probably be the last of the MonsterVerse series (at least Toho has plans for new movies once they get the rights back, so it's not all bad)
It's as if every single recent movie franchise I enjoy gets completely fucked over in one way or another.
More capeshit probably. In two or three years every single movie in the theater will be capeshit
BLACK HOLE SUN
WONT YOU COME
>shrinking market
Where are you getting this information from? those blue check marks on twitter?
> He does make mistakes and fuck up from time to time and that makes him relatable. Superman isn't allowed to have any of that.
I remember once upon a time Clark Kent was a farm boy from Kansas and not presumed to be a literal god on earth. Smallville had a depiction of him more true to the spirit of the comics than any of the shallow movies we’ve gotten. It’s sad desu.
Superman was the most popular comic book hero for a reason, and it wasn’t because he was capeshit Jesus.
After Endgame this was inevitable.
I'm going to make my sister not see Star Wars, just to take away more profit from Disney because they ruined Star Wars.
I'll also watch the movie on Cam, and spoil it on as many sites as possible so people won't want to watch it.
GODZILA IS MOTY
AUDIENCES ARE IDIOTS
>fan of Prometheus

Just like TLJ did?
Prometheus isn't great, but it has a wonderful atmosphere, Fassbender is phenomenal, and it opened up a lot of questions that could have made for a fantastic sequel.
MoS is rough around the edges, but not nearly as bad as it's made out to be. The directors cut of BvS is a really great movie.
Now go smugpost somewhere else with your borrowed meme opinions.
1978 Superman was a pretty good adaptation, but the best renditions of Superman are definitely the cartoons. I just wish writers would stop trying to shove things into Superman movies that shouldn't be there.
He's not Jesus, he isn't supposed to have such an intense god complex that he alienates himself from the people around him, and he isn't supposed to be an emotionless unlikable board.
Superman isn't supposed to just be blue Batman from Krypton either. Batman is fucked up and weird because that's Batman. He's a whole different character.
Superman is supposed to be a symbol of hope, but it's kind of hard to see him as such when contemporary writers keep sending mixed signals about his feelings toward other people on the planet.
