There's something about physically having a piece of art. Whether it's music, books, or movies, it's nice to not have to rely on the Internet to watch it, and actually owning it. It's a bit materialistic, but what isn't nowadays. There's just something about picking something off of a shelf that feels innately satisfying imo
My mother used to throw out DVD cases all the time in favor of using a really dumb CD letter sleeve (think what they used to store old games in at GameStop)
She also did this was all my video games as well, even throwing away the manuals, which for 90's PC games, it sucked cause all the CD keys were on those.
Another funny thing too is I remember her grabbing all of our PS1/Dreamcast/DVDs a few times and would scratch the discs together, effectively destroying a few games. I've had to rebuy games and movies again as I've gotten older because my old collection was pretty much destroyed. lol
I still pick up DVDs, blu rays, and VHS but I've stopped substantially lately. Digital is so much more practical and the tapes and discs just sit on the shelf 99% of the time anyway. I still like to pick up physical vidya, though.
Nope. I find everything online if I can, unless I really, really love it/the people who make it and want to support them. I don't have the fucking money to spend on VHS or DVDs.

I have less than ten blu rays that I cared enough to buy. I'm just lazy and poor. VHS tapes might be fun for me to collect since I had a huge collection before I moved, but only for the aesthetic of the boxes.
Sure, if you fill your life with junk, you will not enjoy it. Of course collecting stops becoming fun when you spend more time archiving than using. Digital makes this worse, without having the visible signs. It's better to own a few things that you cherish than to have access to everything and never get to know any of it.
