I was extremely impressed by the CGI at the start of the film, all the normal stuff like is just incredibly well done. Then came the fighting, with shit like and and I thought meh, that's just how it is. Only when she did the gymnastics after getting her new body did I realize that they should just start mo-capping the fighting too, even if it is with wires and in different speeds than the animation. If you fully animate any movement, it's always going to look off to us, we just can't simulate how movement impacts anatomy well enough for the basic skeletal structure to not look rubbery or wooden.

Well it's based off of a manga/anime so in order to be faithful to the action then they had to exaggerate some of it compared to real life.
There's nothing like motorball that actually exists so there's no way to know if it's accurate or not and Alita has an artificial body that is capable of things beyond what a human can do so that's also going to look unnatural because it literally is.
