The only way religions like Old Gods or Drowned God would be allowed in Westeros is if they were considered "sister" religions of the Faith of the Seven akin to Judaism and Christianity to Islam.

Show Stannis supporters include Davos, Melisandre and a full host of NPC bannermen. In the books, they go into the full extent of Stannis' court and how it includes both R'hllor extremists and standard Baratheon Faith of the Seven supporters. Now, the show made an attempt to show some of this. At the Battle of the Blackwater, there weren't only burning heart sigils on Stannis' side, but also the standard black and gold Stag of Robert's and the green and yellow one of Renly's, for the troops he took off of him.
Show scrapped all of this shit post Season 4 to focus on muh Dany muh Jon boring ass shit instead of the attempts at intricate politics it did in Seasons 1-4.

The show also had Stannis burn his brother-in-law for being an infidel and refusing to stop worshiping the Seven, so you'd think with Stannis being so fanatical on this front that would be THE central issue with his claim and the main reason for Renly's support instead of just "people like him better". This is a problem in the book as well, the religion issue should be treated as much bigger deal than it is, but they make Stannis way more extreme in the show

My impression is that the faith of the seven was never as strong as christianity. Their history is them just getting bent over and over, plus a long long time has passed they couldn't do jack shit to other religions.
They had to deal with R'hllor since the moment they appeared most likely, as rh'llor religion probably appeared somewhere after the long night 8000 years ago and the faith of the seven is said to have started 6000 years ago, while also contending with the much bigger religion of the valyrians.
Then they were driven to westeros 2000~4000 years ago and failed to conquer the whole continent, the North and Iron Islands remained free, and the faith of the seven got wiped out of essos with the andals being driven out.
Nobody has managed to invade the North, so the Faith of the Seven had to suck it up for next few thousands of years.
They still had power up to to Aegon's conquest 300 years ago, but then got curbstomped by dragons and sequentially defanged.
If anything they're at their weakest now, and that's a long time to chill out. Look at christianity, it's 2000 years old and nobody gives a fuck about pagans anymore.
They were barely able to squeeze not having a king of a different religion with Aegon, otherwise they'd have been fucked.
