Am I a brainlet for not understanding this movie after watching it twice?

Not necessarily, probably just a neurotypical/woman.

Whats the point of that last scene where he's suddenly the hero? Why the senator? Why did he take her to a porn movie? What was the point of the scene where he caps a nigger in a shop?

If you don't understand this movie then you should feel sorry or apologize for it because you'll easily have better lives than everyone who does.

Shouldn't feel sorry*. I deserve this for being a disgusting phoneposter right now.

Your first and last questions are directly related to each other. Think about it.

the point of the movie is to shoot niggers

>Whats the point of that last scene where he's suddenly the hero?
Dramatic irony, he's clearly a dangerous individual but media spin portrayed him as a hero because of circumstance.
>Why the senator?
He saw the senator and the pimp as men that were both standing in the way of women he cared about.
>Why did he take her to a porn movie?
Autism
>What was the point of the scene where he caps a nigger in a shop?
Travis exhibits an undercurrent of racial animosity towards niggers throughout the movie, and him executing a robber and then walking away with no repercussions feeds into his future actions at the climax of the movie.

Yep, you're a certified brainlet, but you've come to the right place, a lot of your type around here.

But that last scene doesnt make any scense.
He's hailed as a hero for murdering 3 people and walks away free of any charges. Also, it was very obvious that the hooker girl wasn't interested in going back to her parents but that scene makes it look like she did.
And finally, the woman that was disgusted by him suddenly wants to see him again?

It seems too good to be true and smells like bad writing.

The movie is about an autist that goes on a shooting spree, there is nothing deep about it.

Is this bait?
"Smells like bad writing." Yeah, it's not your fault for being a shocking brainlet, it's the movie's fault.
It's supposed to be a frustrating ending. YOU know that Travis is a nut who wanted to blow someone's head off, and he got lucky that it was the pimp instead of the senator like he originally planned. YOU know this isn't the last time he's going to kill. That's why the glockenspiel note at the end of the movie is literally reversed. He's rewinding to the start of the movie and he's a time bomb waiting to blow up again. The clock has started ticking again.
And the irony is that people suddenly think he's a swell guy, a hero, just because he blew up at the "right" person this time. Next time he probably won't, and the public will wonder why.

Nigger you dont understand what I'm asking.

WHY did he get away with murdering 3 people?
WHY is the hooker okay with her pimp (that she was obviously in love with) getting shot?
WHY is the hooker suddenly okay with living with her parents again?
WHY is the girl that is disgusted with him giving him another shot?

>WHY did he get away with murdering 3 people?
Because no one cares if the people dead are running a child prostitution service. In fact they celebrate it, which is why they laud Travis.
>WHY is the hooker okay with her pimp (that she was obviously in love with) getting shot?
She isn't, she screams "don't!" right before he pulls the trigger.
>WHY is the hooker suddenly okay with living with her parents again?
She's 12-13 years old and doesn't always get to make her own decisions. Should there have been a scene where Jodie Foster faces the camera and explains how she isn't interested in going back home, but because of the extreme media attention there's no way she can avoid it?
>WHY is the girl that is disgusted with him giving him another shot?
Because she thinks maybe there's a side to Travis she hasn't seen yet, a heroic side. YOU know she's wrong, obviously, but she doesn't. She's like everyone else, assuming Travis was being altruistic and brave. Christ almighty this isn't very difficult to understand.

Also adding to this The secret agent that spotted him had a clear view of what he looked like and the mohawk definitely made him easy to remember. So why the fuck didnt he ring any alarm bells when the same guy with the recognisable mohawk murdered 3 guys in cold blood?

>Because no one cares if the people dead are running a child prostitution service. In fact they celebrate it, which is why they laud Travis.
Vigilantes still get charged you fucking retard, he killed 3 people and magically walks away. Doesnt make any sense.

>She isn't, she screams "don't!" right before he pulls the trigger.
But after that she's suddenly okay with going back to her parents though??? Even goes to school and "works hard".
She ran away once she can do it again.

based brainlet OP

>Doesnt make any sense.

I assumed that was Travis' imagination of how the aftermath would go but apparently it isn't

True vigilante justice is never charged. Cops just go "thanks" and try to cover up for you
>she can run away again
And as the stockholm from the pimp wears off she wont want to

correct

not him but vigilantes definitely get charged because if they didnt, it would stimulate people to go out killing people they think are bad guys and that can risk innocents dying

it only means you're a zoomer

It's a movie that perfectly describes the moral bankruptcy and pessimism of the 70s

>Why the senator?
>He saw the senator and the pimp as men that were both standing in the way of women he cared about.
It also ties in directly with his relationship with Betsy. He only starts plotting to kill Palatine after Betsy rejects him, redirecting and disguising his incel rage at her with a contrived justification for killing the man she admires because of the social degeneracy that he supposedly represents.

Stop having sex

Damn right you are, either underage or sraight up retarded

So, did the Ludowigo technique worked? Or did Alex played it all along to get out of prison while only getting gag reflex to Bethoven music?

What? Of course it worked, but at the end he's freed from its effect. This isn't ambiguous on any level.

i could never get passed the porn movie scene, it's just too stupid.

OP you are not autistic enough to understand it.
Its a good thing.

You know, you can still understand the movie even if you don't actually relate to Travis personally.

why are you on a Yea Forums board if you cant sit through a film

>he couldn't understand a movie with as basic a narrative as Taxi Driver

visit /r9k/ and imagine some of them as war veterans in the 70s without even that outlet
it's horribly cringe but quite plausible

>Autistic man wants to go on a killing spree
>Chooses a target that society approves of before almost choosing one they wouldn't have

It's more of a character study than anything.

The movie only works if you understand how shitty NYC was in the 70s.

Also Bernhard Goetz.
