Holy FUCK what a disturbing movie

Holy FUCK what a disturbing movie.

I want to respect those numbers, but the movie was unexpectedly bad.

kino, one of the greatest horror movies ever

What movie?

Didn't age well. My favourite bit is the most hated when it all goes batshit at the end. Hopefully his next film is better

*injects sóylent into my veins*
WOW THIS MOVIE IS FUCKING EPICCCCCCCCCCC

That was the best part of the movie when that ugly thing died but it was downhill after that

also would like to know

Why are getting so much a24 shilling these days?

The nightmare scene was the most disturbing movie moment I've ever seen. I almost had to leave the theatre.

>try to make it a point to see this
>always forget the title when I go pirating
is it even worth it ironically?

hereditary

yes

As someone with a mother who has paranoid schizophrenia, and whos uncles new wife also had paranoid schizophrenia which led her to self immolating in my cousins childhood bedroom, that scene hit waaaaay too close to home.

Every single twist and scene except the one in your pic was underwhelming and predictable.

>Evil Dead still not included
BASED

Hagazussa is a real horror movie

>*injects sóylent into my veins*

That's so fucking disturbing,
I just can't not associate it with people.

so what horror movies aren't söy

>Go into a horror film with a half gallon of >popcorn
>There are only 10 other people in the audience >and they don't have snacks
>I'm the only one munching on garbagefood
>I'm making more noise than anyone else
>I want to stop but I'm hungry
>beheading scene happens
>I put my popcorn down involuntarily for the rest >of the movie

t. Hillary voter made that meme.
What a complete faggot, my god.

Hereditary is one of the truly great horror movies in the last 10 years. If you weren't moved by the death of that kid and her brother's reaction, you have no soul.

Kill yourself soi redditor

The end was the only good part. I was going to turn it off but my friend told me to keep watching.

Boring and repetitive. But they made money.

>going to see Hereditary alone
>using my moviepass (of the two weeks I had one)
>empty theater
>sit in a comfy area, near middle in the first row right before the walkway and "orchestra" section
>some dude comes in as trailers play
>sits RIGHT FUCKING NEXT TO ME
>leave to complain about descriptive audio being on
>come back and sit one seat to the right to prove a point

Who the fuck does this? also when i was watching people in the theater kept making the clicking sound the dumb kid did

Attached: 1488847438423.png (1016x633, 346K)

Fuck you nigger, this sucked elephant dick and thought it could impress with the now common slow bullshit pace and it's cheesy and underwhelming payoffs. And that's the fucking worst kind of movie, the slow pace with payoffs to keep your attention.

what do you consider to be a good horror movie then, sunny

Movies like the descent and the thing, where the story happens naturally and with a fluid pace.

this was the worst movie of 2018. Who the fuck even liked these garbage? And how?

The angry life a brainlet is so embarrassing

I got trolled into watching this movie. 4/10

I honestly don't see why people praised this trash. The characters are all idoits and fodder for attempted spookiness. The failed horror is comedic fuck the entire ending was a grand laugh.

Was kinda boring, except for the part where the possessed mom starts banging her head on the door, that's when I started laughing. Also I hate when they throw out exposition to explain everything at the end, especially when the movie already showed everything the audience needed to know to put the pieces together. If any retards didn't understand the movie they can just use google

pictures like these are so low effort and are never funny yet you fucking sub 100 iq retards parrot them like they are undebatable
this is the Yea Forums equivalent of upvotes, and anyone who links this shit or any of the other meme pictures like it should drink fucking clorox

how's highschool going?

Moderate success and an indie arthouse house style. It was just a matter of time before contrarian people got hold of it. That said, only like 3 of their movies are decent

i unironically agree, i don't know why this movie gets such a bad wrap. the entire way it was shot felt very sterile and detached which contrasted really well with the unsettling events.
i went in expecting just another suspenseful movie using horror as a platform to tell the story of a family, but got the exact opposite.
it tricked you into thinking all the supernatural shit was a red herring and the real "horror" was the breakdown of a seemingly "perfect" family, but no, it was actually Satan, and by the time you realize "oh shit wait there's actually a demon inhabiting this family now" the third act pops off and everything reaches criticality.
i'm a pleb, i'll admit, but i loved this movie and can't wait for midsommar

>Holy FUCK what a disturbing movie

I felt embarrassed watching this pretty much the entire time. Just awful and cringe from top to bottom in literally every way. I truly do not understand what the fuck is going on with modern horror movies and how people like them.

Attached: 1555248413803.jpg (640x723, 39K)

Only the recent Evil dead was horror anyhow

That movie is terrible

I think a lot of people shitting on it just can't appreciate the supremely well made family drama stuff at its core. Maybe it hits a little too close to home for some of them, or maybe they're just so autistic that "family" to them is a mystery.

Why did they just leave her head in the road for ants?

>can't wait for midsommar
>dude white people are so fucked up and weird and scary! All of them are insane cultist serial killers just waiting to come out

>I think a lot of people shitting on it just can't appreciate the supremely well made family drama stuff at its core. Maybe it hits a little too close to home for some of them, or maybe they're just so autistic that "family" to them is a mystery.

i'll do my duty and not pay to see it, then.
i'll wait for the cam rip, it's worth it to fight for the white race.

There's probably a decent medium-length film edit sitting inside it. Need to cut like 40% though, mostly mom scenes.

the self decapitation scene was pretty good.

The first half is God like, haven't felt that uneasy during a movie in 20 years. Shame the second half falls into typical modern horror shit.

i enjoyed this movie and still think it's one of the better ones in recent years, but i feel you. i'm all for batshit endings but something about the back half of this one didn't resonate as well as the first half.

I went into the movie expecting it to be about the mom having schizo and then the son getting it too hence "hereditary" and thought all of the supernatural stuff was a red herring.

my little brother looks like a non deformed version of her

Oh shit is this your brother?

Ant Man

I watching this movie on a day when I was considering killing myself. Something about the movie really connected with me, and I'm not even sure why. Specifically the son, like the parts when he's at school dazing off or wandering around the halls of his house or the part under the bleachers when he breaks down crying. Part of me just wanted to spend as much time as I could in the eerie, surreal, almost capgras sensation this movie created

It's like 2 straight hours of people staring into the camera like they've shit themselves followed up by a nude flash mob at the end. Why does everybody suck this movie's dick so hard?

Attached: 1532918778726.jpg (365x444, 48K)

the anal anguish when the movie finally comes out is gonna be epic. simply epic.

Its a24 shills, pushing the 'it's slow therefore friggin superior best horror of the decade'. Watch for the phrase 'best horror movie of the decade' they always use it. We are being swarmed by a24 shills they are probably prepping the board for the Midsommar or lighthouse premiere

this is a good recommendation list, thanks :^)

>"oh boy I wanna shitpost on Yea Forums but it's still only April, wish it was summer already, guess I'll wait"
>this is what retards actually believe happens

The son's performance becomes incredible when you realize his only other credit was a Nickelodeon show

I made a woman fall in love with me during this movie. She started to have a panic attack when the kid started choking (her kid apparently had a similar allergy) and I just happened to know exactly what to do, shut it down pretty quick. Broke up with her because she was WAY too dominant in bed. Dommes are not my thing, yo. Only other thing I remember is appreciating its loyalty to legitimate occultism.

I think when it gets into the storyline with the seance lady it stumbles a bit. Like, now there's actual canon that we have to pay attention to in order to follow the plot

>didn't watch the movie or too dumb to answer under the tree questions.

man team america 2 looks wierd

Have you never seen gore before?

>She started to have a panic attack when the kid started choking
Kek I can't imagine how she felt during the later scenes

I thought it was pretty good. Most modern horror is absolute dog shite but this managed to be downright creepy/messed up in parts that you just don't get anymore.

>Broke up with her because she was WAY too dominant in bed. Dommes are not my thing, yo
I know that feeling yo. There's this cougar I see and she's so fucking sexually aggressive it scares me. Like forcing my head down to eat her out and shit.
Its like wtf i'm supposed to control what goes on here wtf

I lol'd when that body floated up the tree house.

The “explanation” is a conjuring of Paimon to the physical realm. Pretty self explanatory.

Bingo

Then why did the director feel the need to have the lady literally spell out what they did to paimon for the final scene

I don't get it, is this supposed to be ironic ?

it is bait, as is any image someone spent that much time making

>Why are getting so much a24 shilling these days?

Paying one intern to spampost on plebbit and other sites with multiple accounts. Always starts out as publicity is starting up. Shills are real, and always have been.

It's not rocket science. It's a summoning to open a gate of hell to call the demon Paimon. It's a part of the researched, Goethic ceremonial practice/ conjuration. The sound design of bells, horns and cymbals in the score also act as notifications of his permanent arrival before she actually starts speaking.

>Paimon (also Paimonia, Paymon) is one of the Kings of Hell, more obedient to Lucifer than other kings are, and has two hundred legions of demons under his rule. He has a great voice and roars as soon as he comes, speaking in this manner for a while, until the conjurer compels him and then he answers clearly the questions he is asked. When a conjurer invokes this demon he must look towards the northwest, the direction of Paimon's house, and when Paimon appears he must be allowed to ask the conjurer what he wishes and be answered, in order to obtain the same from him.
Paimon teaches all arts, philosophies and sciences, and secret things; he can reveal all mysteries of the Earth, wind and water, what the mind is, and where it is, and everything the conjurer wants to know. He gives good familiars, dignities and confirms them, and binds men to the conjurer's will.
If Paimon is cited alone, some offering or sacrifice must be done, and he will accept it; then two kings called Beball (Bebal or Labal) and Abalam (Abalim) will go to him together with other spirits, often twenty-five legions; but these other spirits do not always come unless the conjurer call upon them.
Paimon is depicted as a man with an effeminate face, wearing a precious crown, and riding a dromedary. Before him often goes a host demons with the shape of men, playing trumpets, cymbals, and any other sort of musical instrument.

BASED

Do you even read the posts you reply to

What are you talking about?

>viking riders descents
>white people
more like snowniggers

it was pretty okay/good until the scene where the mom doggy paddles through the air. I couldn't stop laughing at that and it ruined the rest of the movie.

This is one of the only possession films since Rosemary's Baby that has a complete absence of the divine. When it's a story that involves spiritual forces, there's usually a priest/holy figure that opposes the demonic entity. Here, there's nothing. It's just man versus Hell.

Guess who wins.

there isn't a versus, its mostly just red herrings over and over til reveal

He was. Byrne is a great actor, but this role specifically demands he not be. The father is a broken shell of a man who's just going through the motions while drowning himself in pills and alcohol. Byrne's performance captures that, but it does it a little too well. The father is virtually a nonentity.

No, there was a versus. Two ill-equipped parents utterly fail to save either themselves or their children from the forces of Hell. The mother is a brainwashed victim of her mother and quite likely ritual rape. The father is the "man of medicine/science" who till the very last refuses to believe any of the shit is real.

I don't particularly enjoy scary movies. Ended up having a few drinks and watched this. Only thing that genuinely 'got me' was when naked smiley guy was in the doorway then the mom was behind the kid. 7/10, would watch with a girl and go to the bathroom when that scene happens.

The scene that got me was when the grandma was standing in the darkened corner of the mother's studio.

love how "A Dark Song" is not in the A24 meme

that shit was an even bigger snoozefest than "witch" or "babadook" or "hereditary"

Attached: Du5-mQEVYAAYmfu.jpg (1200x1200, 178K)

That was kind of startling but it wasn't awful for me? Having lost a parent I didn't immediately go to 'oh shit, that's a ghost'. When you lose someone like that your eyes can play tricks on you. They're constantly on your mind and you can see them in faces in the crowd, in dreams pretty constantly, things like that.

>in dreams pretty constantly
Yeah iktf all too well, was my last dream actually

Attached: cantsleep.png (234x215, 20K)

I'm fucking saying that the plot was easy to figure out already and that the exposition was completely unnecessary and made for a shitty final scene and you reply explaining the ending like I didn't just say that it was easy to understand

At least Father's Day is over.

Attached: 1476250392972.jpg (997x750, 160K)

I don't think it's intended to startle. Given what we already know about the relationship between her and her mother, it's meant to be taken as a sign that, whether it's really there or not, she's haunted by her. Later, we see that it wasn't a ghost or a trick of the light. It was her. What was left of her. That's her demon-ridden body Charlie later sees sitting in the fire.

I know how you feel, man.

Kek

It wasn't an exposition,it was a dramatization of a conjuring. There is a ceremony happening on screen of which the cult member has to distinctly notate by speech to match the lore of Paimon.

Not great, not terrible. The ending let it down

If you're some kind of crazy person maybe
No, that isn't anything like the movie.

>not realising its cause kids are out of school and have more free time to shit post
retard

>"you are paimon, one of the eight kings of hell!"
>hells bells starts playing
weird movie but they nailed it in this part

Oh yeah so little shitposts happen in spring, winter and august

maybe he was scareded and wanted a new fren to watch movi with and go hang out later :)

>it was awful and cringe!

thank you so much for that thought provoking criticism, user. have you thought about becoming a movie reviewer? i'm sure you'd be great!

>No, that isn't anything like the movie.

That *is* the movie.

The mother is basically conditioned from childhood to keep the grandmother's secrets, to the point where she'd burn herself alive before admitting any of them even to herself. That's why she won't even say the truth in her own dream. Her husband is a therapist that married his own former patient. He either never got the truth out of her, or he did but never believed it. He allowed his wife to give over his child to his psychotic bitch of a mother-in-law, while raising the elder child that wasn't even his and sinking deeper and deeper into substance abuse and denial. He's a weak, pathetic man married to a deranged woman whom he "medicated" into a semblance of sanity rather than actually helping her. Her artwork is all about working through her trauma, but all she ever shows(at least all we're ever shown) are things from her adult relationship and her adult life. That suggests that her husband never even got past the surface. He gave up. He surrendered. And his whole family payed for it with their souls.

the movie isn't as deep as that description of it, the characterization is not there at all. the reality of the grandmother plot is confused and probably meaningless on the whole.

thanks, I consider this a recomendation list

You're trying way too hard. It's a run of the mill horror movie.

Really liked the Ritual, didn't find it uneventful at all
