sneed

Child's Play up to the one where he gets a wife
It's garbo after that

Maaaaaaniaaaaaaac

I like the remake as well.

>Sleepaway Camp 1-3
>A Bay of Blood
>The Burning
>Black Christmas
>Silent Night, Deadly Night
>Prom Night

Attached: XRAE0346.jpg (520x320, 54K)

the remake was surprisingly very good, also that OST was top notch.

the maniac cop trilogy

no this was good

Attached: curseofchucky.jpg (220x254, 24K)

halloween 3 was fucking shit

Attached: 1559853246129.png (1334x750, 1.22M)

Pieces ('82)
criminally underrated

top notch nude scenes in that movie

Definitely not Halloween 3.

Some obscure ones
>Slaughter High
>Hotline
>Death Spa
>Dead and Buried
>Black Devil Doll from Hell
>Video Violence
>Microwave Massacre

Attached: hotline.jpg (511x400, 49K)

Maniac Cop 2 is pretty kino. Just saw it for the first time recently and thought it was fun.

Attached: BloodAndBlackLace-LobbyCard1.jpg (650x442, 164K)

Bride of Chucky is entertaining but it feels like they radically changed Chucky to be more like a generic slasher villain.

Halloween 3 = pleb filter

It was better than Halloween 1, aka the most overrated slasher of all time

based dubs. just rewatched it this past weekend, best in the series

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2

Deep Red

The Funhouse

Are giallos usually considered to be a part of the slasher, or a separate subgenre?

The Prowler

It's the parent genre, slashers were born from the giallo. Blood and Black Lace could be called a proto-slasher

Yup. No argument here

The burning is the best stand alone slasher

My Bloody Valentine (the original)

it came directly out of the bumpercrop of self referential meta horror coming out at the same time like Scream and Scary Movie. It was also a huge step up in terms of reviving a stagnant series.

Death Spa is fucking spectacular
Dead and Buried didn't knock me out, but anybody who liked The Fog should watch it
Black Devil Doll is borderline unwatchable but really amazing if you can handle stuff like Things; Science Crazed is also worth a watch if you're that type of movie masochist; OH, and Boardinghouse
Video Violence is fun trash, but Microwave Massacre is sub-Troma level.

Death Spa was definitely a good one. So many great tits on display including based Brenda.

what unbelievably stupid faggots
if it wasn't called "Halloween" the same people would be calling it one of the most underrated horror movies of the 80s
all great picks (I'm not as into the Sleepaway Camp sequels as the original, though. I like Return To better than 2 or 3.)
the original is essential; the remake deserves kudos for going in such a different direction with their approach
the meta Chuckies are def worse than the first 3, but they did course correct, and you've gotta give 'em credit for being so willing to experiment. Also the only franchise besides Phantasm that's primarily the brainchild of one person who stuck around through all the installments. I guess you could count Scream if you think Craven's the only name that matters there.

Tobe Hooper is one of the most underappreciated names in horror, despite the original TCM
The Funhouse
Eaten Alive
TCM 2
Spontaneous Combustion
Lifeforce
Salem's Lot
are all GREAT, and Invaders From Mars and The Mangler aren't bad either. His late stuff really is garbage, though.

The Violent Shit series is good if you want something funny.

Yeah. Furthermore, Bay of Blood is pretty much a straight up slasher. Especially since Friday part 2 ripped off/homaged some of the death scenes.

VS 2 has one of the best theme songs for any slasher.

>The Prowler
>Chopping Mall
>I Drink Your Blood
>Return to Horror High
>Christmas Evil
>Linnea Quigley's Horror Workout (Kind of, the last part of the tape becomes a short slasher.)

Attached: unnamed (3).jpg (400x570, 40K)

Was it Kino or just another exploitation flick?

Attached: 91Qaw5xMe7L._SX342_[1].jpg (342x444, 41K)

kino easily

Torso is another classic. Also that Colors one with Edwige Fenech where she looks very beautiful the whole time and kind of like the hot chick in Love Witch.

it's great, for fuck's sake, duh
I Drink Your Blood and Chopping Mall are both excellent
I couldn't get into Horror High at all, it feels like they made it up as they went along and wanted to make a meta spoof but had no ideas
Christmas Evil has THAT ending, so yes, it's great
The Prowler is good for fans of My Bloody Valentine and other "classy" slashers like that, lol
Horror Workout's just a big joke, of course, but if something being called Horror Workout appeals to you, you're going to get exactly what you were hoping for here

Absolute horseshit.
It has nothing going for it besides the raft massacre.
The cast is entirely severely unlikable.
The killer's make up isn't menacing once revealed.
The sex scenes aren't sexy.

Just considering slashers of the same era My Bloody Valentine, The Prowler, The Final Terror, Madman, Just Before Dawn, Night School, The Slayer, Humongous, Superstition are ALL better.

>Maniac OG & Remake
These are trashy kino. Both films are equally nasty and disturbing. Both films have their pros and cons but I find that both are equally as good. I think that Joe Spenelli, Tom Savini, New York City, and the 80's highlight the original. The remake has an amazing score, better actors, a better script, and creative directing. The beginning of the remake is fucking amazing.

This was kino. Felt like a Friday the 13th movie. Rains throughout most of the film. Stuck on an island. Body count gets crazy. Good chase scenes. Hotel. I think the worst part of this movie is Freddie Prinze Jr and he isn't even in it that much. The first film feels too much like Dawson's Creek and this one ramps everything up.

there are more slasher films out there than most people will ever be able to watch

doesnt hold up for me but for some reason ill watch its shitty sequel if its on

you mean I'll Always Know WYDLS? Haha, I'm shocked there's a fan of that movie out there; talk about the flimsiest premise for a sequel ever

not a fan, i just can never remember a thing about it. its fucking terrible, down to rasta jack black and brandy.

you're talking about part 2 then, which is the movie in the post you responded to

yeah i am i watch it but it sucks and i still dont like it. i realized why though, im a sucker for small group stuck in an isolated environment getting picked off movies.

The sequel is hilarious and highly rewatchable, unlike the original which is just a Scream ripoff with none of the charm.

Original > Remake > Beginning
I have to say the prequel to the remake although being more of the same is a surprisingly nasty slasher film. The gore is really grizzly and the movie is kinda mean spirited. Great Saturday late night movie to watch. TCM 3D is an absolute piece of shit but I think it is somehow so bad it's good.

Attached: 51HT54EJTSL[1].jpg (338x500, 44K)

I couldn't get into the remake, but I found The Beginning surprisingly entertaining. Teleporting Leatherface was bullshit, but R. Lee Ermey owned the movie.

I’ll give you a couple from each decade.

>Friday the 13th: Part VI
Why do plebs love this one so much? It's shit

why do people like part VI more than part IV? although both were easily the best 2 in the series., even though I have a soft spot for VII because Jason's design was just wicked in it and the battle with a psychic was kind of cool.

It's the one that fits your sensibilities if you grew up with Scream
It's also the one that feels most like an Elm Street movie
Personally, I think EVERY F13 movie is wonderful

Fags love 6 because it's meta and they feel cool for enjoying it, and they waifu the blonde girl even though she's completely forgettable and just obsesses over the main guy for no reason, hmm

I like Jason Takes Manhattan better than VI because at least VIII knows it's shit.

for me its mid tier f13 at best, has nothing in it that made the good ones good.
scream is top 10 horror for me but i still think jason lives is blah.

For me its part 2

god brads daughter was so fucking hot in this and cult

try out Island of Blood, if you can find it

big ups to this nigger, terrys lake dip stole many a load from my adolescent self.

id counter recommend to you Island of Death if you want some groovy fucked up video nasty kino

She made Part 2 memorable, with this short-haired goddess and her glorious nude scene it would have been completely pointless. She is the first thing anyone thinks of when the movie is mentioned

part 2 is the best one

I think the most meta one is V, where it's all about PTSD and copycat killers. VI is the moment where it becomes an occult series. Where IV is the end of it being something that could "plausibly" happen (although recovering from an axe to the brain is probably not going to happen)

Nah, it's good but I hate the way they kill off the original final girl. They either should have ignored her or made her a main character, Jason just showing up at her house was a terrible scene, poorly done and pathetic. I get the urge to skip the opening every time I watch it, that alone brings it down in my ranking

V isn't meta so much as it is exploitative, as in let's pander to the target audience as much as possible. VI was self-parody and that's why I hate it, made by a writer/director who clearly didn't like Friday the 13th and so it feels insulting.

agreed. also why i like 5, i enjoy the offbeat characters, tits, kills, and slimy tone that came from a smut directors pandering tactics. 6 was like fanfic. 2-4 are the best because they strike the right tone and have all the ingredients. 7, despite being as out there as the rest of the latter ones, would be high up there if they didnt neuter it.

They had to get rid of her because the actress didn't want to do it anymore. But I agree they could've written her off better.

The paintball scene in 7 is probably the worst scene ever filmed in a Friday the 13th movie.

loved Island of Death but it's a different type of movie; IoB is a And Then There Were None knockoff where everything's from the victims' pov, IoD is just a couple of psychos running around doing fucked up shit and you're following them around

Out of the whole series, I want to see an uncut part VII more than anything. That uncensored head crush is the shit.

The adventurous tone of Part VI makes it a seminal 80s movie. It has the best Tommy Jarvis and one of my favorite Jason designs. It manages to be tongue-in-cheek without jumping all the way into comedy territory, remembering that it’s supposed to be a horror movie at its core. It has some great kills (though a little too many are held back) and gets the action going right from the start, with never a dull moment.
As for the Part IV argument, I find Part IV kind of dull. There is a long lull in the action (I’m talking 30 minutes) where there are no kills. Its finale is great, but I can’t say I like the movie as much as a whole.
Plus, Part VI has Alice Cooper.

VII has my favorite kill (sleeping bag), and I have a soft spot for it because they just said fuck it we're an occult monster movie series now let's just roll with the supernatural, also as I said before, seriously wicked Jason design.
I was pretty sad he was so terrible in the video game, being that he was also the only Machete Jason too

that was in VI but it did have the triple decapitation which was pretty cool.

That reboot sounds like it's gonna suck.

There's no way it'll be as good as the original. Remakes don't generally bother me, but that's one movie I don't see being improved upon. They definitely won't beat the soundtrack.

Eh fuck Jordan Peele. He claims it wont be about race / ism but I find that hard to believe. Honestly if he just made it a hard ghetto film with candy man brutalizing unlikeable gang bangers in Chicago with not pseudo intellectual SJW message to it than it would at least be watchable.

They buffed Part VII in the video game. Also, once you get to a high enough level, you can have the Jasons change weapons and give the machete to any of the other parts.

do people even still play the game? I haven't since they announced they weren't going to release any more content because of that lawsuit.

It was such a grind, I think I got into the level 60's or something. I did enjoy the single player challenges though.

Go back to Yea Forums

I don't care if he makes it about race; I just don't think Jordan Peele is all that great a director. Get Out was seriously underwhelming.

>want slashers devoid of political commentary
>realize they always had political commentary trying to discourage premarital sex, binge drinking, and smoking the marijuanas
Shit.

1 and 2 are equal and both damn good to great.
Always is actually shockingly decent for a straight to dvd sequel with no story connectivity.

> Halloween
> Nightmare on Elm Street, Wes Craven's A New Nightmare, Dream Warriors
> Halloween (2018)
> Scream 1
> Texas Chainsaw Massacre (OG)
> Psycho (OG)
> Hush (2016)
> Child's Play (OG)
> Black Christmas (OG)

That's about it for "Good" slasher films. The rest are pretty derivative, and enjoyable because they're so bad they're good. Slasher films as a genre are notable for a handful of clever takes on the formula, and the other 95% being lame cash-ins.

> 1974 >> 2003 > 3 > Beginning >>> Leatherface >> 3D >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Next Gen >> 2

>Fags love 6 because it's meta and they feel cool for enjoying it
6 is my top favorite f13 movie and yet I actively dislike the meta parts of it. Fuck your assumptions.

>7, despite being as out there as the rest of the latter ones, would be high up there if they didnt neuter it.
And if the cast wasn't severely unlikable besides Tina.

Depends. You can get games on Friday or Saturday nights. During the weekday, you’re better off doing single player.

>Spontaneous Combustion
>GREAT

yeah, no.

THE 5TH 6TH AND THE 7TH FRIDAY THE 13THS ARE KINO. EACH ARE GREAT FOR THEIR SPECIFIC REASONS.

Chop Top is the best horror villain ever

I like Spontaneous Combustion better than The Funhouse or Salem's Lot, and I like both of those plenty. I think time's going to be pretty kind to it. 90s horror is getting re-evaluated these days, and SC is definitely better than something like The Resurrected, and at least as good as something like The Horror Show or Guilty as Charged.

everything Michele Soavi touches turns to gold
The Church
Demons
fucking Cemetery Man
fine, The Sect isn't that great

Sorority House Massacre is the best horror movie that people still don't know about yet
perfected the stupid beyond belief style of slasher, where the girls are constantly in skimpy lingerie and covered in blood

Twisted Nightmare
Scream (not the craven one)

Savage Weekend

Great taste user

That and "potato sack" Jason.

yeah it’s really overrated and is a bad tv movie. i loved the suddenness of the ending though

>discourage
I dunno what movies you were watching but that was not their aim

Well I mean the killer always kills people who do those things and the virgin who stays sober is the final girl, you know how they are.

Except the tongue-in-cheek humor falls completely flat, the horror elements are equally unimpressive, and Zombie Jason is garbage, plain and simple. Also the camp being full of kids completely removes any tension. and the film's pathetic attempt to fool the audience into thinking they might be in danger is cheap and insulting to fans.

yeah you're right, most of them were bland. even bernie lomax should've been a better antagonist (he was still way better than Uncle Touchy from part 8, although I'd argue Uncle Touchy was ten times more punchable).

It's the best in the franchise. Also not a slasher
