lol of course
Lol of course
LALALALALA
Incredible how the least entertaining character got the spinoff
>wtf how could they make a spinoff based on a small side character for diversity purposes
anyone else have absolutely no fucking interest in this shit growing up
me
Was there any minority character in Beavis and Butthead? they are next
yeah, same here, don't know anybody that watched that shit
lmao who the fuck would want that
>Their target demographic is 12-14 year old girls
Actually, why did Judge let this happen?
Daria is already a feminist spinoff of Beavis and Butthead. It's amusing how much the two situations overlap, and Daria fans don't even notice
thank fuck
all my old friends i went to highschool with fucking cream themselves over the show
meanwhile i don't fucking understand why it was so god damn popular, i just never found it funny, even when i was a teenager it was just "dude edgy teens against society shit lmao"
Beavis & Butthead is still funny to me. Never watched Daria.
Daria's dad best character.
Wasn’t Daria far more a 90s things than an “aughts” thing?
Daria was a fucking loser and was jealous of her hotter sister who was a better person in every regard.
The 2016 episodes are legit great.
But anything that's not a smart phone advert for a channel that became for 16 year old girls will always fail.
always thought him and hal from malcolm in the middle were super similar
>No spin-off starring DeMartino.
Why live?
Never realized it but you're right. Daria's mom was the bread winner and he got irate over mundane shit.
Him bonding with the jock guy friend visiting is something straight out of real life.
I think you mean WHY even LIVE!
it was about feeling alienated from normalfags.
so of course a normalfag wouldn't really understand it.
Go to bed, Quinn.
Mike Judge should have tried to make a deal to get it on Comedy Central. I agree the new episodes were great, but I couldn't watch them on MTV anymore after a few episodes due to all the obnoxious pop-ups. I bought the blu-ray as a way to support the show. Oh well.
It was pretty smart for the time, and not just in an overly snarky cynical way. The show itself even pokes fun of Daria herself being overly cynical.
As the series progressed it kind of became less of a bullhorn for bad monologues and more a point-counterpoint for someone living it.
Of course it was mtv though so the tv was forever set to it anyways not sure I wouldn't seen it otherwise.
Until Road Rules came on. Fuck Road Rules.
i used to watch it then completely forget about it 15 minutes later
Yup cartoons were for babies. I watched kino history channel shit and the simpsons when it was still good.
The Simpsons is for babies
>dude haha homer get drunk and he stupid xD
In a perfect world maybe. I believe he said every one of them started life as a King of the Hill script that wouldn't get made but seemed perfect for B&B.
I did a lot of IT jobs and the tech support B&B episode sent my sides into orbit. Between that, Officespace and Silicon Valley you can tell he lived in those trenches for years.
What really hits a nerve though is I don't think he ever got the music rights to do the video reviews, i.e. the best fucking parts of any episode. In that way just downloading them is the purest way to watch them today.
I thought the new episodes ended around 2012.
I might be off. Don't think I saw them until way after the fact.
i thought the sister was hot when i was a kid
so tired of this faggot shit.
>spinoff of a spinoff
THIS IS MY STOP!
I WANNA GET OFF!
Daria was arguably the least interesting character on Beavis and Butthead. It works because like Daria Jodie can provide a straight man to the chaos around her. Hell even her father is broadly similar to Daria's mother.
The real issue that instead of the social commentary of Daria and B&B we are going to be getting a shitload of political BS shoved down our throats.
I loved it. I even watched it a few years ago when it was on logo. I won't watch the spin-offs though considering the current political climate.
I saw the entire series and rewatched it recently for nostalgia purposes. It's pretty blackpilled but there's no reason to make a spinoff for the unfunny black girl no one cared about
formerly was good
>early aughts?
There's something wrong with my memory. I thought that came out right after B&B, mid- to late Nineties.
>Daria fans don't even notice
yeah, that’s kinda the point of good storytelling. Not everyone here is a tard that hates even well made non preachy feminist stuff
March 3, 1997 – January 21, 2002
>the video reviews
>that one for helmet's 'unsung'
>SATURDAY
>SATURDAY
>SATURDAY
My favorite was when they shit all over a song I actually liked.
I kind of hope Judge does a B&B film where they've actually aged. It'd be hilarious to find one of them had like three bastard kids and the other did time for getting handsy at a gym and is still a virgin or something. Shoot for an R rating.
I've never seen Daria - do Beavis and Butthead make an appearance?
She was certainly the least interesting, which is the fate of all women, but that doesn't mean there isn't a show there. I always kind of thought it was an ironic stab at lefty feminist not-like-the-other-girls types and they were too thick to notice.
No, they don't. It wouldn't fit the liberal fart huffing theme of the Daria series. This is coming from someone who liked both.
Ah, okay. Thanks for the assist.
What's wrong with this?
I don't care about nigger media but as long as shit like this makes /pol/ seethe I'm ok with it
It is going to be like the Cleveland show all over again in that you take a boring character that can't stand on its own to base a series around except this time a lot of liberal preaching.
>i despise nigger bullshit and also despise wignats
You're my kind of nihilist, bud.
I watched it but I hated Daria. Everyone was so nice and patient with her and she treated them like shit. I would've killed to have parents like that growing up, and Quinn isn't even a mean sister.
Was it that political? I always thought the contrast was that she was thoughtful and poetic while B&B were dumb and crass. I saw that dynamic a lot in high school (metalheads picking on goth chicks a la "diarrhea cha-cha-cha") and always found it amusing.
The original Daria series was a bit political though somewhat in a different vein than today but a modern day spin off in the age of Drumph will be completely beside itself. The show will be just one big freak out and they'll completely forget it was meant to be a comedy. Also this series is being based off of a black character from the Daria series that was never in B&B and was really just another foil for Daria.
Is Daria still relevant? Wouldn't you need to reintroduce the character and her friends to your 12-16 year old audience before you can make spin-offs?
In the original B&B series, B&B were just a couple of knuckleheads looking to score while Daria was a malcontent looking to hurt and manipulate them. In the Daria series she is made out to be the fount of wisdom while everyone else is a knuckle dragging ape.
Jodie's character was about not being rewarded/made a spectacle of because of her gender and skin colour. Stuff like this is what the original show would have made fun of. This is just tonedeaf.
I said I don't care about nigger media, not that I despise it
There was a hispanic kid in some of their classes. He only had a couple of lines though.
Some of the topics covered by Daria never really changed. They could still be relevant.
A spin-off depending on how it's made can be a very independent creation with no need to reference the series it came from. I don't recall Frasier heavily referencing Cheers or Frasier being an important enough character in Cheers though both still did well. I think this series will be more of a Murphy Brown situation where they bring it back just to be a leftist platform and it just doesn't click with audiences.
I hated daria.
People tend to associate Daria more with the 90s, since the show is a product of 1997's late gen x culture, even though it was still airing in 2001 when the 90s spirit was long dead
DIARREAH CHA CHA CHA
Except everyone that's freaking out over this, it's the same exact shit. If you liked Daria but think this is cringe, you are retarded
It's gonna suck.
>if you like a well written show but don’t think a spin-off 2 decades later will do as good of a job ur cringe
k
To add to this, if they spin the show in this angle with Jodie actively not wanting to be the center of attention they'd actually accomplish something and it could be neat. I doubt it'll be that way, but it doesn't feel fair to assume the worst as a kneejerk reaction.
THEY ARE GOING TO FUCKING KILL THIS SHOW AREN'T THEY.
FUCK THESE GREEDY ASSHOLES
>spin off of a spin off
He didn't mean cartoons in general though.
The Hollywood industry is desperately throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks. They see netflix banking on nostalgia and hoping it will work for them. They would be better bringing out gross out series like The Head, The Brothers Grunt, B&B, or a new liquid television/cartoon sushi.
The Daria dad is where they got the malcom in the middle and Rick and Morty dad from.
Daria was a spinoff done without the original creator's knowledge, by MTV, to cater to a different audience. It was virtually the same situation. The problem everyone bitches about is
>reee this is not true to the original show!
Neither was Daria
Was Daria autistic?
>daria's negro friend
she cute
Daria can't be remade because the zoomer spirit is pretty much oppositional to gen x's
But how many of these nostalgia reboots have ever worked? I only remember Roseanne because the news wouldn't shut up about it.
I probably avoided it for the art style alone
The baby boomers, gen x, and zoomers are all whiny leftists. They are like three peas in a pod.
Battlestar Galactica
It looks like an ultra simple and sterile flash cartoon.
The zoomers think leftist baby boomers and gen x are all conservative nazis now. The world is a silly place.
Im sure some people are like that, but I’m just talking quality. Don’t care about branding. 90s writers and animators were just better all around.
I don't agree with that. Even if they are all leftist, zoomer Daria makes no fucking sense to me. How does it make sense to you? Zoomers are unable to be cynical they think it's cringe and gay
It had the exact same screenwriters and story editors. The creator of B&B gave them his blessing
calm down /pol/ for a second i have a question for /daria/ and Yea Forums
they said in the press release for this daria remake that the new show "would be about daria and daria's friend jodie"
but jodie was never daria's friend. they knew each other. classmates yes, but friends? i dont think so.
same with beavis and butthead, they have no friends. there are other kids, younger and older, and adults who know them. but not friends.
these shows were made in a time right before the internet made us all focus on "friends" when we could watch mtv in our basements up til 3 am head banging to music videos and playing nintendo. the current generation of kids/teens doesnt even watch tv. they watch other kids opening boxes on youtube. that is insane to me.
This was the only good MTV spinoff (Downtown) and then, only because they constantly shit on MTV.
I liked it. The dad was hilarious. It turns out the sister was a nice person and Daria was just a normal bitch despite all of her efforts not to fit in. Maybe that is a little harsh, but she was no different from anyone else.
I have no clue if zoomers are truly like that. I just know that is how Yea Forums is today in response to everything since they don't have a better response.
the ending credits with the "Alter Egos" were always fun , other then that it was ok
>Krstic was originally one of the co-creators of MTV's Downtown.
No that was not a spin-off of downtown.
I watched this as a kid and again somewhat recently. In the current era it really feels like there's not enough talent out there to write daria as a character. She's probably one of the deepest and most resolved cartoon characters and is insanely anti establishment to her own detriment. Everyone is so fiercely establishment these days she couldn't be written without some hack writer projecting a bunch of their own bullshit politics into it and thinking they're counter culture.
I remember at some point they were warming up to each other but Jodie was in a different social circle from Daria. Even in the 90's there was a big push not to be independent and the most important thing in life was socializing/friends. I got hit with that a lot. I think Daria covered that as well.
Love and kisses from /pol/
Her anti-Russian story at the coffee shop that got numbskulls looking for the Russian embassy to torch would turn from malcontent manipulation to non-ironic "IT WAS HER TURN"
There was already a reboot of that show like a decade ago and no one watched it.
People did watch the B&B reboot but mtv wasn't interested because their core demo had become female tweens. It didn't match the image they were going for.
>think it's cringe and gay
It is
>WHOA dude everyone is a sheep I'M the ONLY conscious person IN THE WORLD
I HATE LANYARDS!
The History Channel when it was still focused on antiquity was very good.
>the Daria Universe
Fuck racist people, I never cared about them making Daria & Jodie.
But Jesus fucking Christ, Daria isn't a UNIVERSE. Lawndale might be a fictional city, but it takes place in the real world. Not everything, least of all a show that was about high school students, has to try to ape the MCU.
Literally only hipster latinas like this Daria garbage. They sometimes base their entire personalities on Daria
Even Daria itself changed and dropped the Gen X spirit by the last season or two. Went from
>Daria is so smart, ironic, and aware unlike all the dumb normies around her
To
>Daria is kind of a preachy conceited bitch who thinks she's better than everyone just because they are still earnest
No zoomershits who think like this are more like
>I aint cringe, ur cringe af nigga. Bet you dont even watch capeshit or listen to Lil Peep lmfaoooo nigga af washed af nigjagnfxlfl;;gfglkgg]vc;]v
it's nothing like gen X cynics even if they were huge pseud faggots like Daria. It's like the equivalent of Daria being an obsessive britney spears fan and shilling it everywhere and calling everyone a pseud if they didnt agree
Nobody still watching MTV will give a shit about this. Remember they gave Beavis and Butthead a new season and nobody watched it except 3 boomers including myself?
Dariaverse
Really it should be the Beavis Butthead-verse
This could be decent. Daria was a show where everyone was normal, but Daria was an asshole constantly judging and fucking with people, thinking she's better than them when's she's just as bad.
New show stars the black female friend that was the protesting activist in a rich white neighborhood.
Season could be her going in with some sjw group and seeing how messed up that group could be and drops them end of season.
>wondering why there are so many movie buffs on tonight
>check the board
>Yea Forums
>havent read a tv-related thread in weeks
>cold sweats, diamonds
Holy shit I forgot about this show
Daria is a wish fuffilment revenge fantasy for gen x'ers coming of age.
>even when i was a teenager it was just "dude edgy teens against society shit lmao"
except absolutely nobody spoke in this moronic bullshit way when it aired, not even the teens. jackass. show was alright.
this user gets it
