The trailer was extremely deceptive with a cool music track that is evocative of Hotline Miami (as is the use of a hammer and ultra violence) and which itself is, ironically, deceptive (the full song sucks they use the only 40 seconds of it that doesn't suck).

It's shown from the perspective of a security camera, you don't really see it, just him swinging slightly out of frame.

I liked the movie a lot and disagree with his opinion of it but he's a little bit right about the not showing it, like the big rescue scene letting him down action wise isn't a crazy idea. It does show violence elsewhere, however.

I read that Joaquin was supposed to get shot in the leg but he thought guys limping throughout movies is annoying to watch and to act, so it was changed to through the cheek (into the tooth? I thought that was fucking weird and I was very confused over where or not he was or rather how he was shot in the face for a good 15 minutes... and is just going through the rest of the movie with an open bullet hole in his cheek apparently.)
