Had an IT guy come fix my PC that got busted when lightning blew the circuits in my house and PC wouldn't recognize anything anymore, and he told me that I should get a VPN since he saw how many torrents I had downlaoded and that he did that too till he had to go to a prosecutor and pay thousands of euros for the things he torrented; he gave me a free one year subscription to a VPN he bought that allowed him to use it on as many of "his" devices as he wanted.
That scare exists here just as much as in the US buddy.
