Where to go next?

I've seen every good or decent giallo movie (except for the few which I can't find anywhere) and recently I've seen almost every decent slasher movie available online.
Where do I go next?
Plus: are there more hidden gems like pic related which I may have overlooked?

This was another fun one. The acting was bad, but not terrible, but the incredible stupidity of the story made it one of those movies where you doubt if they did it on purpose or if the makers were just really incompetent (probably a mixture of both).
I really loved the total lack of logic in the story and how they tried to create tension by adding things which made no sense (the guy eating a burger dripping ketchup on her shoes in the elevator with ominous music in the background, the janitor staring excessively even though he later turned out to be innocent). I also loved how the killer turned out to be the most obvious character, even if we didn't see him for the entire movie. There was no mystery at all, you just forgot about him.
The story kinda started dragging along after a while and the movie took too long (or just had too big a lack of story), but all in all it was very much worth watching.

bump

A very late one, but still great. Features Sam and Ted Raimi plus Bruce Campbell as a cop a the end.
The killings and the gore is all in good fun with a not-too-serious tone, but at the same time never too ridiculous.
The story and the character development isn't exactly top notch but it's certainly adequate considering the genre of the movie.
The only real downside is they pretty much give the killer away in the tagline of the poster (which you hear somewhere early on in the movie).

This is one by giallo-director Umberto Lenzi.
More like in the sense that the fun resides in the complete ridiculousness of the movie: motorbikes with inbuilt electric chairs, 'high speed' chase scenes on mopeds going 15 mph, a random drunk college kid shouting 'go gators!' at unexpected moments, a priest with a 'lewd' daughter, etc.

Regardless of the quality of these movies, the cover art is often really great as well.

I'm trying to get into the italian splatterhouse genre, can someone post me some reccs for starting

Zombi 2
Antropophagus (the movie is quite slow and the gore is mostly at the end, but boy does it make up for it)
The gates of hell trilogy (The beyond, City of the living dead, House by the cemetary): these have a specific, 'surreal' way of storytelling though where logic is deliberately put behind atmosphere and visuals (Fulci had long since proven he could make movies with decent stories) and it's not something everyone likes.
Zombie holocaust
maybe Demons also

New York Ripper my man

Demons is fucking fun

Hospital Massacre/X-Ray is very underrated; it's dumb on purpose, like you suspected
at the climax, if you listen close, the choir that's singing on the score are singing about the villain "He's Evil! He's Evil!", lol

Y’all have great taste. Being in a similar boat may I also suggest the following?
>Tombs of the Blind Dead 1 & 2
>Four Flies On Grey Velvet
>Just Before Dawn
>Blood Rage
>Blood Moon
>Blood Beat
>The Church
>The Sentinel

Japan is a country worth exploring for more gore as well. Maybe you can look into Sushi Typhon productions if you like early Peter Jackson type splatter the 80s-90s direct to video SFX showcases.

Hidden Gem for you

Ha! didn't notice they were singing that. I was just already surprised to hear this Omen-type chanting in the background of a slasher movie.
And what about the scene were Susan gets an 'examination'? The music suggests the it's supposed to create tension because she may be in danger, but in the end nothing happened and the whole point was just to show her boobs!

pieces sucks dad dick, watch Torso and be amazed. Also gain a familiarity with giallo films (the girl who knew too much, the bird with the crystal plumage, don't torture a duckling, deep red especially) and then watch Tenebre by Argento to really get your shit fucked uo

You should also watch Angst

seen all of these, and Torso def was the one I was least impressed by
Pieces is great
Tenebre is great as well, of course, and DTaD has one of those great Fulci slow-mo cliff deaths like The Psychic did, but you sound like kind of a shithead.
YES, Angst is a fucking MASTERPIECE
and it's an obvious suggestion, but if you're gonna watch Dangerous Seductress you also have to watch Lady Terminator

let me try another then, Let the Corpses Tan.
Also, what did you think of Mandy?

don't give a shit what the reaction to this is going to be, but loved both of them.
Mandy is better than Black Rainbow, and is the second best movie of last year, behind Damon Packard's Fatal Pulse
Let the Corpses Tan is awesome, but I found the on-screen time/date gimmick irritating, and still prefer The Strange Color of Your Body's Tears

Have you seen A Short Night Of Glass Dolls? Great giallo.
I fullheartedly back this user

Joe Bob Brigg's return to Shudder has been a great run for anybody that likes horror enough to be in this thread. Check him out, really knowledgeable about film's you may have already seen.

Thanks for all of these!

I've seen all of these, great stuff.
This one as well. Most if not all Franco Nero movies seem to be worthwhile, I also really like him in Hitchhike. A quiet place in the country was interesting but not completely my taste.

What Have You Done to Solange is my favorite, non-Argento giallo.

For some reason, I thought the kid in Blood Rage sounded like Seinfeld a lot and I couldn't unhear it anymore while watching the rest of the movie.

since this thread started out with a Grindhouse Releasing movie, thought it's worth saying that basically everything in their catalog is on a scale of 'worth your time' to 'fucking excellent'
The Beyond and Cannibal Holocaust are obvious prerequisites for even being a horror fan, and the lesser known stuff in here is often pretty surprising
loved The Photographer, for instance
