Refn is all style but no substance. The meta elements of his flics often feel forced and the dialogue reads like something a pretentious double digit IQ film student wrote. Nice cinematography though.

the cop is supposed to be the angel of death or judgment sent by god.
the whole point of the movie is that only god can forgive, but not its emissaries sent to punish the mortal humans.

Shit movie, it looks like shit, even Refn said it was shit. The Neon Demon is his only recent accomplishment worthy of praise.
